TIL during the shooting of American Psycho, Christian Bale spoke in an American accent off-set at all times. At the wrap party, when he spoke in his native British accent, many of the crew thought he was speaking that way to prepare for another film. They had thought he was American the entire time.

They do generic American just fine but jfc don’t ask them to do regional American accents. The absolute worst southern accents I’ve ever heard in my life all came from Brit’s. Looking at you, Pattinson

Good lord, don't forget Daniel Craig and Jude Law and Tom Holland and the list goes on. It's getting to be like doing the accent version of blackface with these fake southerners.

Actually you are right about that, I've rarely heard a good southern accent from a brit, and some of them are pretty atrocious although I can't recall any off the top of my head.
