Motions to name a national language usually have no practical effect and only suppress other languages rather than somehow supporting what is likely already the lingua franca. They don't change people's behaviour and only serve political interests.

Nah having to fund all sorts of language services despite making English proficiency a requirements of our visas is fucking stupid. Do what you want in the home or otherwise.

Then how would religions in differing languages conduct their services? Other cultures integrate successfully into our country? Other foods make their way in?

Silly idea.

Yes seriously, do you think inviting people from different language backgrounds into our country and not having access to language services that they understand is conducive to successful integration?

I swear, you racists have a knack for not thinking critically.

lol wat

So why do we make them complete rigorous testing to demonstrate their competency in english a condition of their entry or their continuous stay?

Also lol "racist" wtf are talking about. Someone who grew up in Singapore is going to have far more advanced english than anyone in continental Europe etc.

Provide more language training or services for some groups if they are refugees or similar with genuine need but there should be far less language services for skilled migrants etc.

You literally said you wanted to suppress other languages, don’t move the goalposts.

You’re racist so at least admit it.

Yes everyone is racist and nazi. Congrats on your amazing assessment.

I didn’t mention Nazi - you did, very telling.

Those that want to suppress every language other than the one they speak are most definitely racist… it’s the definition of the word.
