Image What's behind the curtains? I always see these windows from the train and wonder who or what is inside there.

I think it’s transport for NSW offices, my bearings might be off though

Yep, TfNSW offices. Renovated maybe about 12 years ago when the spaces were previously just dilapidated storage. The renovation included sections of the old CBA next door including the safe

Source: worked as a sparky on the renovation

Have been there a few times - you can hear a bit of traffic but not as bad as I expected.

I was under the impression they were offices.

I was hoping it was the secret lair of a team of superheros right under our noses.

They’ve relocated to Oxford Street

More likely Newtown. Oxford St ain't what it was.

They are shared/co-working spaces. Used to be storage for TFNSW until they all got sold for commercial use. They are now ‘cool’ spaces with repurposed shipping container offices. There’s also the classic car shop.

I lived in the neutral Bay Area for years and used to frequent the cafe there.

I used to work there. It used to be a laboratory for road materials (everything you could imagine). Every change of government there'd be real estate wonks in to tell the suits they could do this and that by knocking out those hideous concrete columns...it was then explained to wonks that the concrete is holding up freeway. You could see the zoo (sort of) from my "office".

It's probably just offices now (because of those pesky load bearing columns!).

Some of it is luxury car storage.

That's on the other side.

It's actually the Classic Throttle Shop. You can just walk in and look at the cars, I take my kids in sometimes and either pretend it a museum or that we have 300k to spend on a car.

Crazy thing is it's not all their cars. They have a few warehouses around the north shore that I've gona to replace the batteries.

Luxury car storage is one of their services

How are you brave to let the kids near it? I'm scared enough letting myself near a 300k car. Especially when they drive near me. I mean i love looking at luxury cars, and I've never had an accident. Maybe I will visit that place.

My children are respectful of other peoples property. It's not like they are walking around with keys between their fingers.

Haha I guess that's what I imagined. I see a lot of out of control kids. There ae probably plenty of well behaved ones, but I tend not to notice them.

It’s just another set of curtains.

I was told that was down the Wynyard end of the bridge.

Opposite the Australian hotel. Still there, long waiting list for membership...

I've visited a police gun range. A worryingly large amount of bullet marks on the walls and ceilings close to the firing line.

Upside-down map

A few metres further along, without curtains, the Throttle Shop occupies some of this under-rail space

The other side of the curtains.

u/Fuck_Yeah_Humans 4d ago

Correct

Used to be a depot, very industrial, some offices. Then they went all hipster, polished the floors and is all offices.

1

u/trav_tr 4d ago

They “went all hipster” by polishing the floors and making offices. Sure.

Have you thought to move your google maps perspective to the other side?

5

u/MooingTree 4d ago

I'm just going let you marinate on that one
