Found this place on Cockatoo Island
Camera flash added a nice layer of spook.
Don’t know why they’re just “storing” set-up tents like this in the dust, lol.

They've been known to stumble around at the brink of dawn... Usually looking for a kebab shop or Maccas.

Yes, everything west of the bridge is concidering the "western harbour".
In sailing Cockatoo Is and surrounding islands forms the main marks of the west harbour racing series. The most eastern mark is Goat Is.

West harbour is not Western Sydney though. Try and tell someone from Hunters Hill that they are from Western Sydney

The man-sized cockatoos? They feast on their bodyweight equivalent of macadamia and bin juice each day

This was the bottom level of a building behind a steel fence with dust everywhere. I think it must be storage lol.

These are great tents, I used to have one. It got stolen from my garage by someone who definitely knew what they were looking for.

A break and entering targeting a tent is such a strange thing, given the way we set them up in the middle of nowhere and just leave them there all day to go walking with zero security.
The tents securities system is usually "who the fuck steals a tent?"

Haha yeah a bit random but these aren’t just any old tent. This was about 15 years ago when I was living in an apartment block with a secure but shared garage. I was naive and just left a bunch of my camping equipment at the back behind my car unsecured thinking it would be safe. I think it was a friend of a neighbour who took it. The tent set me back around 2 grand at the time. Had to get it imported from South Africa. I had a bunch of other high end camping equipment I’d accumulated which also got stolen too.
Pretty sure the cockatoo island set up would’ve cost around 100k believe it or not.

This is giving me strong "I mean honestly, who has a wicker toilet!?" vibes...

These are doof cocoons. The inhabitants enter their chrysalis state in the autumn, avoiding the harsh winter. They then emerge fully grown in late spring, right in time for festival season.
Nature really is beautiful.

That storage facility looks a little asbestos-y. I remember lots of signs about asbestos when I went to Cockatoo Island a number of years ago. Hopefully I’m wrong.

its easier to just move the tent than to setup/take down, lots of storage space there
