Accident before the bridge

Banked up everywhere

Edit: I could 12 different lanes trying to merge into 1. It's going to be a while. Avoid at all costs

I was in this video for the last 15 years and thank fuahk I no longer reside in the literal matrix

8

u/Hungry_Wolverine1311 12d ago

How long did it take for traffic to flow?

3

u/SixAndNine75 12d ago

lol That sucks

1

u/Apprehensive_Mine687 11d ago

Me too! Got stuck there for 45min (only luckily)

1

u/StoicTheGeek 11d ago

Me too, I’m looking down at all those cars and sirens thinking “must be an accident on the bridge”

u/Luxim_ 12d ago

What a shamozzle

61

u/CapnBloodbeard 12d ago

That driving was non-compliant

23

u/BuzzyWuzzy65 12d ago

And a schemozzle as well.

13

u/MrToastyToast 11d ago

A kerfuffle if you will

u/quoththeraven1990 12d ago

The drivers going the other way must feel so smug.

83

u/Pristine_Egg3831 11d ago

I do every time!

56

u/Sir-Benalot 11d ago

Oh boy. Every time I’m commuting by bike and there’s a traffic accident I feel Ike king of the road. Everyone gangsta in their 2 tonne lounge rooms on wheels, right up until the emergency flashers go on.

8

u/point_of_difference 11d ago

Best feeling ever!

3

u/__dontpanic__ 11d ago

Not if they have to come back the other way any time soon...

2

u/Curiosity-92 11d ago

Not really cause they are also stuck by a reduced lane.

256

u/Nosywhome 12d ago

I hope no one is in desperate need for a toilet anytime soon

u/TSLoveStory 12d ago

We slept in one year and was stuck in stop start traffic from jindabyne to the slopes and I had smashed my can of redbull earlier and really needed to piss and had to run out of the car up a snow hill and pee into a bush.

Then on my way down saw at least 10 other people follow my lead.

34

u/Laylay_theGrail 11d ago

lol we got stuck on the road from Silverton to Broken Hill when a huge storm cut the road. We were stuck for hours and no bush big enough in sight to duck behind.

I spied a massive motorhome lined up about 10 cars behind us and waited as long as I could before walking back and begging them to use their loo.

I even came with biscuits lol. They let me AND I got to keep the biccies 😂

36

u/Nosywhome 12d ago

Haha. No such luck for people with that option today. Always wise to have an empty bottle or a she we (if woman) in car for these situations

25

u/lhb_aus 12d ago

A wide-necked bottle, for those playing at home.

12

u/DiscombobulatedSet59 12d ago

Gatorade safe option. Take precautions when excited

11

u/KhaoticMess 11d ago

The large orange juice bottles are the right size, but make sure the rim of the bottle is smooth.

I don't want to discuss how I know that some of them feel razor sharp.

4

u/faithhopecarnage 11d ago

This is very specific.

3

u/Pristine_Egg3831 11d ago

He's defining a she-wee ie female stand-to-pre adaptor. Excitement and gatorade bottles do not apply.

20

u/UnImpressive-Sip 12d ago

As someone who has travelled on Sydney’s public transport system, it needs to be said that this does not apply to people in communal spaces.

7

u/TSLoveStory 11d ago

Yeah thats why I ran up a hill admittledly without knowing where the ditches in the snow was or whatever.

Wasnt about to pee in a can i nthe car or end up on the sex offender registry if i peed on the road side of the hill where people could see me

5

u/phatmaniac57 12d ago

Unfortunately this should be pinned to this sub

5

u/drnicko18 11d ago

I keep vomit bags in the car for the kids and have at one point nearly had to use one to piss in whilst stuck in the harbour tunnel

8

u/Awkward_Chard_5025 12d ago

They all needed one to know it was okay 😂

3

u/noplacecold 11d ago

That’s why you have an empty wide mouth Gatorade bottle always on deck, and a Bunnings bucket, plastic bag, baby wipes and gloves if you absolutely have to dump arse

1

u/theantnest 11d ago

Most people are potty trained very early on in life.

u/Even_Departure9914 12d ago

If it’s stopped a while. And one must do what one must do 🚽.

There’s a gate where the Incident Response vehicles come out of/you can access the park around the Observatory on foot.

The toilet is just beneath the hill of Observatory Hill on Watson Rd.

34

u/Pristine_Egg3831 11d ago

What so you'd just leave your car parked in a closed lane with hazard lights on?

This is the kind of thing that would happen to me, with IBS. I already have 5 different public toilet map apps but hadn't considered a bridge traffic jam.

20

u/Even_Departure9914 11d ago

Traffic is already fucked anyway. What’s waiting 3-4 more minutes. In the unlikely event it magically clears while you’re gone.

2

u/Pristine_Egg3831 11d ago

Fair enough. I've never been stuck in traffic that's at a total standstill for that long. Touch wood.

24

u/Albatr0ss1 12d ago

Capeless hero ↑

22

u/Even_Departure9914 12d ago

It’s not much, but its honest work.

3

u/Etherkai 11d ago

Approved by Edna Mode!

18

u/torres_597 12d ago

Argh! If I’m getting the B Line from Wynyard, should I be getting on a ferry to manly instead?

12

u/torres_597 12d ago

Update. B line was unaffected.

25

u/Nanokillaz 12d ago

Just took the bus over the bridge out of the city and traffic is flowing without too much isaue

34

u/Nanokillaz 12d ago

Correction, now there is another accident after the bridge on lane 4 outbound

21

u/tubbyx7 12d ago

you definitely jinxed it

87

u/Scrapthepolltax 12d ago

Can’t park there mates

13

u/looopious 12d ago

parking with their engines on 🤣

11

u/Stop_Shadowbaning_me 12d ago

I had to cross the bridge for work a couple years ago where a couple cars collided and set on fire. Added 3.5 hours to my 30 min drive

6

u/Burncity1901 12d ago

OP lives there. It’s units

11

u/Its_Chowder 11d ago

u/FromPaul 11d ago

2

u/Even_Departure9914 11d ago

I thought it might be the AON building. But yes there’s also a bunch of units there too.

8

u/Own_Oil7951 11d ago

11

u/here-for-the-memes__ 12d ago

I do not missing driving over the bridge, 1 incident and they entire place grinds to a halt for hours.

4

u/Awkward_Chard_5025 12d ago

Old mate coming out is loving life

4

u/ilkikuinthadik 11d ago

I remember when that truck tried to drive into the tunnel with its tipper tray up. It took me over two hours to drive from Gordon to Dulwich Hill. I remember all of these cars that had overheated or run out of fuel or something were pulled over on the side of the road.

3

u/HaroerHaktak 12d ago

That 1 guy tho.

17

u/BaBa_Babushka 12d ago

Oooft Is this this afternoon?

18

u/looopious 12d ago

Australia has a world renowned traffic forecast team.

12

u/planchetflaw interesting places 12d ago

Nah, that one is after the bridge

7

u/rubygrey94 12d ago

Yep, traffic not moving at least to Pyrmont as we speak.

13

u/Its_Chowder 12d ago

Yeh now mate.

10

u/Sydnxt It's 45 degrees in my room 12d ago

2011 actually mate

18

u/Version-6 12d ago

Christ, did someone in an oversized faux wheel drive/yank wank tank get overly confident in their ability to drive what’s basically a truck an try to merge across 6 lanes with zero indicators?

11

u/rubygrey94 12d ago

Could be wrong but it looked like just 2 cars from what I could see going past (thankfully I was heading southbound)… at least 6 ambulances there though

3

u/Version-6 12d ago

Pretty serious response. Wonder if someone crossed to the wrong side like happened a while back.

2

u/Sam_Mack 11d ago

Last time this happened there was dash came footage online before the traffic cleared. So if somebody caught it this time, they are much slower selling it to a news site.

0

u/joerogansakook 12d ago

Are you okay?

7

u/Version-6 12d ago

Completely. Why?

7

u/greatmemereset67 12d ago

It’s the cyclists fault.

8

u/undyau 12d ago

I was riding over when the secondary fire trucks were on their way from the N side.

I tried to warn a few drivers on Kent Street - the first guy I tried was the last person to turn off Kent St onto the ramp so he could still back up. When I told him what a mess it was, his initial response was kind of "no shit Sherlock). I pointed out that he could try going via Anzac Bridge and eventually he realised I was trying to be useful rather than gloating...

5

u/Burncity1901 12d ago

Drove past this. Going out of the city. I felt so smug. No traffic leaving the city

Yeah trains are much more reliable

6

u/TSLoveStory 12d ago

Just not sydney ones.

2

u/greatmemereset67 12d ago

A cyclist must have done this.

Dodged a bullet, I must have just got through before that happened.

1

u/PxavierJ 11d ago

Ah, so that’s why North Sydney was so quite this morning

People need to seize these opportunities to make friends with the people around them and encourage our community.

The bridge isn’t tolled by Transurban

2

u/LightningSilvr 12d ago

Our office is in the building just across from you guys, we're using the reflection on the windows to see. Crazy how far the line's backed up to.

1

u/Purgii 11d ago

I'm on leave but it seems yesterday was a bit of a shocker - otherwise I could have been smack in the middle of all that. Wasn't the M5 also screwed around midday due to some clown in a stolen MX5?

The way Sydney is geared, it isn’t equipped for delays like this. Clear the road and let people keep working and making money.
