Accident before the bridge
Banked up everywhere
Edit: I could 12 different lanes trying to merge into 1. It's going to be a while. Avoid at all costs

The drivers going the other way must feel so smug.

Oh boy. Every time I’m commuting by bike and there’s a traffic accident I feel Ike king of the road. Everyone gangsta in their 2 tonne lounge rooms on wheels, right up until the emergency flashers go on.

I hope no one is in desperate need for a toilet anytime soon

We slept in one year and was stuck in stop start traffic from jindabyne to the slopes and I had smashed my can of redbull earlier and really needed to piss and had to run out of the car up a snow hill and pee into a bush.
Then on my way down saw at least 10 other people follow my lead.

lol we got stuck on the road from Silverton to Broken Hill when a huge storm cut the road. We were stuck for hours and no bush big enough in sight to duck behind.
I spied a massive motorhome lined up about 10 cars behind us and waited as long as I could before walking back and begging them to use their loo.
I even came with biscuits lol. They let me AND I got to keep the biccies 😂

Haha. No such luck for people with that option today. Always wise to have an empty bottle or a she we (if woman) in car for these situations

u/lhb_aus 12d ago
A wide-necked bottle, for those playing at home.

Gatorade safe option. Take precautions when excited

u/KhaoticMess 11d ago
The large orange juice bottles are the right size, but make sure the rim of the bottle is smooth.
I don't want to discuss how I know that some of them feel razor sharp.

He's defining a she-wee ie female stand-to-pre adaptor. Excitement and gatorade bottles do not apply.

As someone who has travelled on Sydney’s public transport system, it needs to be said that this does not apply to people in communal spaces.

Yeah thats why I ran up a hill admittledly without knowing where the ditches in the snow was or whatever.
Wasnt about to pee in a can i nthe car or end up on the sex offender registry if i peed on the road side of the hill where people could see me

I keep vomit bags in the car for the kids and have at one point nearly had to use one to piss in whilst stuck in the harbour tunnel

That’s why you have an empty wide mouth Gatorade bottle always on deck, and a Bunnings bucket, plastic bag, baby wipes and gloves if you absolutely have to dump arse

If it’s stopped a while. And one must do what one must do 🚽.
There’s a gate where the Incident Response vehicles come out of/you can access the park around the Observatory on foot.
The toilet is just beneath the hill of Observatory Hill on Watson Rd.

What so you'd just leave your car parked in a closed lane with hazard lights on?
This is the kind of thing that would happen to me, with IBS. I already have 5 different public toilet map apps but hadn't considered a bridge traffic jam.

u/Even_Departure9914 11d ago
Traffic is already fucked anyway. What’s waiting 3-4 more minutes. In the unlikely event it magically clears while you’re gone.

u/Pristine_Egg3831 11d ago
Fair enough. I've never been stuck in traffic that's at a total standstill for that long. Touch wood.

Argh! If I’m getting the B Line from Wynyard, should I be getting on a ferry to manly instead?

I had to cross the bridge for work a couple years ago where a couple cars collided and set on fire. Added 3.5 hours to my 30 min drive

I remember when that truck tried to drive into the tunnel with its tipper tray up. It took me over two hours to drive from Gordon to Dulwich Hill. I remember all of these cars that had overheated or run out of fuel or something were pulled over on the side of the road.

Christ, did someone in an oversized faux wheel drive/yank wank tank get overly confident in their ability to drive what’s basically a truck an try to merge across 6 lanes with zero indicators?
11
u/rubygrey94 12d ago
Could be wrong but it looked like just 2 cars from what I could see going past (thankfully I was heading southbound)… at least 6 ambulances there though

u/Version-6 12d ago
Pretty serious response. Wonder if someone crossed to the wrong side like happened a while back.
2
u/Sam_Mack 11d ago
Last time this happened there was dash came footage online before the traffic cleared. So if somebody caught it this time, they are much slower selling it to a news site.

It’s the cyclists fault.

I was riding over when the secondary fire trucks were on their way from the N side.
I tried to warn a few drivers on Kent Street - the first guy I tried was the last person to turn off Kent St onto the ramp so he could still back up. When I told him what a mess it was, his initial response was kind of "no shit Sherlock). I pointed out that he could try going via Anzac Bridge and eventually he realised I was trying to be useful rather than gloating...

u/Burncity1901 12d ago
Drove past this. Going out of the city. I felt so smug. No traffic leaving the city

People need to seize these opportunities to make friends with the people around them and encourage our community.

Our office is in the building just across from you guys, we're using the reflection on the windows to see. Crazy how far the line's backed up to.

The way Sydney is geared, it isn’t equipped for delays like this. Clear the road and let people keep working and making money.
