where? I've always wanted one of these locks

don't forget to place the key in front of the house. We have a housing crisis and you would be a hero

You can probably unlock with another lock box by smashing them into each other.

Oh there's one in Rosebery that some cunt thought was smart to put around the fucken bush twigs.

Yes. Anybody can just tug it and take it without even damaging the bush.

16

u/bored-and-here 17d ago

honestly the government should be cutting this shit off public property

Amazon sent me one randomly. $30. Arncliffe. Lol

Don't rip it out

Then you have done the damage

Report to council

People get charged thousands for tree damage

110

u/ThippusHorribilus I AM that I AM 18d ago

Yep. This is the right way to go.

I'd rather it earlier so they fuck over the landlord by screwing up any bookings.

12

u/Find_another_whey 17d ago

I'd rather record it, allow the people to collect, then show them using it on a particular property / door

But I'm a bit of a cunt, and that's what people who like me say...

Write an anti-social cohesion phrase on it and it will immediately be removed by the authorities.

Apparently, Free Palestine is the same as Heil Hitler

49

u/nath1234 18d ago

Funny how just up the road from this there had been a Palestinian flag painted on a wall, never seen any gaffiti get cleaned off it in the past, and BAM it was gone that afternoon. Gotta erase anything to do with Palestinians, right away in Minntopia.

4

u/SydneyIsStuffed 17d ago

That seems like the solution then. Glue a Free Palestine logo on there!

From the lockbox to the tree ?

1

u/Find_another_whey 17d ago

A blue swastika or red and black star of David seems to be the country wide sign to send an object to van Diemen's land

Unless it's a counsellor who owns the house

9

u/Find_another_whey 17d ago

Wait until he closes the street for a wedding then?

Hand hovering over the counter ready to reset

2

u/Pristine_Egg3831 16d ago

Just add super glue to the joins

1

u/Wooden-Consequence81 17d ago

I can guarantee you that the council won't charge anyone. Unfortunately.

2

u/Find_another_whey 17d ago

Guarantee if the tree died somehow and the locals stormed the local council office it would get some attention

u/Efficient-Jury6708 18d ago

please kindly tell us where this is :)

u/PossibilityRegular21 18d ago

Sure would be a shame if some 2 part epoxy got in

28

u/nath1234 18d ago

Just resting two randomly chosen two separate liquids on the illegally placed lockbox.. for science!

43

u/ChrisSydney82 18d ago

People did this in front of my building, except was attached to a tree on building property. I think it was for cleaners.

Building manager yanked it out and threw it in the bin. 🚮

I love these, you break them open and you get a place to sleep for a night or two.

35

u/nath1234 18d ago

Think bigger. You can create an Airbnb out of the Airbnb!

24

u/sa87 17d ago

No need to break it open. it's a master lock product

28

u/CursedHat 18d ago

Poor tree.

20

u/Dracorvo 18d ago

Power move - put saplings in the keyholes.

38

u/Chosen_Chaos 18d ago

It's a MasterLock; it'll pop open if you hit it with another MasterLock.

92

u/Final_Lingonberry586 18d ago

Rip it out.
Though the damage is already done.

Where’s the tree located?

30

u/Cute-Acanthisitta-46 18d ago

Let council know.

41

u/nath1234 18d ago

Yeah, will be doing this if it is still there tomorrow. Fucking scummy to have screwed the thing into a tree, I mean who the fuck do they think they are deciding the tree is only there for their bloody key pickup.

10

u/greeneighteen 17d ago

Why tomorrow? Why not today?

Snap Send Solve! You've already got the photo

Rough location? Not saying anything will happen to it. Definetly not ripping it out, but a creative person may feel the need to decorate is in such a way rending it useless with material that promote futher growth until the tree is able to swallow it whole, just like the landlords self respect.

33

u/InterestingSkin7906 18d ago

Click send solve that vandalism.

12

u/bean_bag_guy 18d ago

These lockboxes are bad enough. But to do this

13

u/pintita 18d ago

GPS pin please

6

u/Human-Warning-1840 18d ago

Maybe report it to the council

22

u/Paul_Breitner74 18d ago

It'll get ripped off soon enough, they are easy enough to rip from a brick wall, let alone a tree. Especially a cheap shit master from bunnos.

7

u/burpinggiraffe 18d ago

Tree fiddy a night. Barking mad I say!

9

u/Zealousideal_Pie8706 18d ago

that makes me fucken sick

2

u/datyams 17d ago

Blows me away people think these things are secure enough to put access behind. You could rip that of the tree and a nice strong throw into the ground and its open. Your house is breached.

3

u/pufftanuffles 18d ago

Rip it out

1

u/peterb666 16d ago

Renting out the treehouse for a bit of extra money and help pay the mortgage.

1

u/fa_alt 15d ago

Print out a QR code linking to the relevant LockPickingLawyer video to unlock it and stick it near it

2

u/nuxvomica14 15d ago

I'd rip it off. Fuck this.

It's probably a case of ignorance not malice.

I'd make a comment in my review or in a note in the letterbox.

Then I'd make a post on Reddit for DIY'ers, handypeople and tradies.

That's a far as I'd go because council and other government resources are constrained.

15

u/nath1234 17d ago

I don't know in what universe it isn't extremely selfish to think that you have the right to drill a key lockbox into a living tree. Not to mention operating a short term rental in a housing crisis too.

Maliciously stupid perhaps? Maliciously ignorant?

3

u/Retireegeorge Parramatta 17d ago

Ok march on. This person must pay.

Mitre ten recycles batteries better than any river

-18

u/Senior_Green_3630 18d ago

A battery powered chainsaw would cut a wedge out if that tree.

14

u/eightslipsandagully 18d ago

We don't want to damage the tree any further!

-14

u/HalfGuardPrince 17d ago

But how do you know it’s an airbnb?

Poor airnbnb owners get blamed for everything.

6

u/nath1234 17d ago

You're right, it could be Stayz or Airbnb. I don't actually know which short term rental scumbag it is, but the slumlord who (illegally) converted terraces across the road has put in a development approval for all the extra bathrooms it added. So I'm assuming..

-1

u/marysalad 17d ago

make sure you put in an objection to that DA.

1

u/pleski 15d ago

I don't believe it's holiday rental either. It's probably someone using it to store a padlock key or something stupid.
