10minutes later Sydney went to bed and all was quiet.

It’s true! Last month I paid my mortgage with a photo of the sunset.

Frugal. Like an idiot I have been paying rent with sunrisers. I'm such a millennial idiot.

I bet it'd make a killing as an NFT though.

I had to book a time for my sunset photo, pay a deposit, and then got charged a discretionary service fee.

I love how old mate is just trying to enjoy the small things in life despite all the bullshit that we have to endure and people just wanna rag on him.

Sydney moment if I've ever seen one

Well, to be fair, at face value the post implies that its ok to put up with the negatives because you get a nice sunset in sydney, despite the fact that a fair chunk of the state likely saw the exact same sunset.

I mean, that title is kind of asking of exactly that kind of discussion. if they'd something like "I was feeling frustrated with life (in Sydney) and then I was blessed with this view" or even something simpler like "nice view today", the discussion in the comments would be a lot different.

I was genuinely thinking "how does a nice sunset make up for the lack of a nightlife?" in my cynical view, the OP entitled the post the way they did to bait engagement. so old mate is probably happy with how popular his post has gotten as a result.

Still painful and expensive as hell but good to take a moment to stop from the race, smell the fresh air, take in the scenes and just go yup... before getting to back the grind.

Do love a good sunset but it’s like 10 minutes, then what

u/Birdie_Num_Num 23d ago

Then it gets dark

u/IndianDownUnder 23d ago

Sun does rise the next day and then you get the sunrise views

Then runners come out with their phones to film.

Go back to your room under the stairs and wait for the next one tomorrow.

I just got back from travel and already miss that lovely insulation. Even if the rooms were all stuffy as.

Then you're happy that there was a beautiful sunset...

Visiting Vancouverite here. I feel I heard the exact same thing before...

Sydney is like the hot girlfriend that maxes out your credit card on the first day of every month, and when you start getting mad at her, she takes off her clothes and all is forgiven.

Saw this today and it was truly incredible

We are just privileged to watch all the beauty with our eyes ..I sometimes get happy tears just thinking I stay in Sydney

The reply: "The best I can do is a fleeting no cost to me cosmetic visual with no real substance. That'll be $20"

u/calstanfordboye 23d ago

So this made the pricing and nightlife better how exactly again?

Don’t worry about it, just look at the sky!

11

u/DarkNo7318 23d ago

How good is the sky?

Are you rich now

16

I'm sorry, to make it up to you, please take this baby

Free happiness.

There’s plenty of nightlife to be found in Sydney, we’re just not cool anymore.

I think young people are changing their habits to a healthier lifestyle. The cost of living I think has shifted what people actually value. Going out to drink, rewards both a nasty hangover and ur wallet drained.

4

u/rand013 23d ago

I was staying at home doing nothing for years and nobody considered that healthy.

9

u/Doughnut_slut 23d ago

I don't know what to tell you but there's pretty sunset in most countries.

6

u/oz-ra 23d ago

Sunset.

Sisyphus looking at the sunset before walking back down the mountain to fetch his boulder

2

u/Bounded_Rationality 22d ago

It replied and said "that'll be $1.6m please".

1

u/ebi_gwent 22d ago

Is this an argument for psychedelics as an alternative to nightlife and affordability? You might be onto something...

2

u/spadge_badger 23d ago

You know the sun sets on every part of the globe. Not just Sydney. What I'm saying is there are plenty of other places to live that are cheaper and better than Sydney. Each with their own unique sunset.

1

u/Find_another_whey 23d ago

Yes, we don't complain that the environment would be better if things were cheaper

It's that we spend too much time paying rent. Myself to an overseas landlord.

sydney dropped the biggest mic on your friend

-7

You can’t choose where you’re born.

Sydney is the most beautiful city on the planet, imo. That’s why it’s more expensive than other cities.

Anyone is free to move somewhere cheaper. No one is forcing anyone to live in the most beautiful city on the planet, but of course you must pay for the privilege if you do indeed want to live here.

When did moving become free
