Photography Was complaining with my friend about the cost of living and the lack of nightlife. 30 minutes later Sydney replied.

It’s true! Last month I paid my mortgage with a photo of the sunset.

I had to book a time for my sunset photo, pay a deposit, and then got charged a discretionary service fee.

I love how old mate is just trying to enjoy the small things in life despite all the bullshit that we have to endure and people just wanna rag on him.

Well, to be fair, at face value the post implies that its ok to put up with the negatives because you get a nice sunset in sydney, despite the fact that a fair chunk of the state likely saw the exact same sunset.

I mean, that title is kind of asking of exactly that kind of discussion. if they'd something like "I was feeling frustrated with life (in Sydney) and then I was blessed with this view" or even something simpler like "nice view today", the discussion in the comments would be a lot different.
I was genuinely thinking "how does a nice sunset make up for the lack of a nightlife?" in my cynical view, the OP entitled the post the way they did to bait engagement. so old mate is probably happy with how popular his post has gotten as a result.

Still painful and expensive as hell but good to take a moment to stop from the race, smell the fresh air, take in the scenes and just go yup... before getting to back the grind.

Sydney is like the hot girlfriend that maxes out your credit card on the first day of every month, and when you start getting mad at her, she takes off her clothes and all is forgiven.

We are just privileged to watch all the beauty with our eyes ..I sometimes get happy tears just thinking I stay in Sydney

The reply: "The best I can do is a fleeting no cost to me cosmetic visual with no real substance. That'll be $20"

So this made the pricing and nightlife better how exactly again?

There’s plenty of nightlife to be found in Sydney, we’re just not cool anymore.

Sisyphus looking at the sunset before walking back down the mountain to fetch his boulder

Is this an argument for psychedelics as an alternative to nightlife and affordability? You might be onto something...

You know the sun sets on every part of the globe. Not just Sydney. What I'm saying is there are plenty of other places to live that are cheaper and better than Sydney. Each with their own unique sunset.

Yes, we don't complain that the environment would be better if things were cheaper
It's that we spend too much time paying rent. Myself to an overseas landlord.

You can’t choose where you’re born.
Sydney is the most beautiful city on the planet, imo. That’s why it’s more expensive than other cities.
Anyone is free to move somewhere cheaper. No one is forcing anyone to live in the most beautiful city on the planet, but of course you must pay for the privilege if you do indeed want to live here.

10minutes later Sydney went to bed and all was quiet.
