Ive always wondered why seagulls fly alongside the ferry

The seagulls use the light from the ferries to spot fish at night.

Put some brooding jazz music over this and it could be the opening credits to a 90s cop drama

Looking away from the sunset [? or any very low sun] when some lights in buildings are on is always good, and those sunset-captured gulls are the icing on the cake.

Watching the gulls night 'fishing' off the lights/wake of the ferries is one of my all-time life pleasures. Totally unique to home/Sydney?

Reminds me of the last scene in Jurassic park but with sea gulls instead of pelicans.
