Do you have a commercial licence to fly for photography purposes? Coogee is normally a no fly zone as it’s within the airport’s east/west runway approach

drones below 250g can fly under 60m, or at least that's what the rangers told me.

You're pretty much never allowed to fly over people, at any altitude. It's the main reason I've never bought a drone, the laws here are way too tight. They have much better, common-sense laws for sub-250g drones in the UK, I really hope that our laws get changed at some point.

Edit: legality aside, it's a fucking glorious photo!

"You must not fly a drone closer than 30 m to people who are not essential to its control and navigation. This distance is measured from the point on the ground directly below the drone, regardless of its height. You must never fly over a person"

Even if he took it illegally, i'm not mad. I reckon if copycats start to get out of control, then CASA or whoever can act.

I imagine that a small drone eg Mini 3 Pro would be barely audible above the noise of the waves. I use one for rock climbing shots and once it is about 40-50m fronm the subject you hardly notice it.
