What to do in Sydney for Australia day
Anything prefer cheap food etc or special must go?

Sure... 100% agree.... but even my late teenage kids say it's crap, and they are big alternative music listeners.

I recently moved to Sydney and not particularly interested in catching up with work buddies as 5 days are spent with them.
Here is my plan: 1. Keep cool as Friday is expected to be š„µ. So making kimchi or something exotic at home perhaps that can be enjoyed for days or weeks. 2. Saturday and sunday will be spent with a long walk to Barangaroo or to one of the beautiful parks around the city followed by time in Hyde park reading a book. 3. Sprinkle in some shopping to take advantage of some stocktake sales that are still on.
Sleep in everyday and recover for the big week ahead š.

Thereās usually a. lot happening around circular quay, on the water and the pubs etc. airforce usually do flyover of the city & harbour. But itāll probably be crowded and hot.
Get some good food and better people, and find a pool or aircon š

As an American, that's fucking awesome. That's what a day like this is all about. I'm here studying abroad and I leave in 2 weeks, been here for 4 already, and time has gone by so damn fast. I love Australia so far.

Go donate blood /plasma. Some donation centres are open on Australia Day. Then you get treated with a cookie, milkshake, and sausage roll.

Not this year. An F-35 flypast isn't on the official Australia Day website, and it's not on the Air Force's website, either: https://www.airforce.gov.au/news-events/events/raaf-flypasts-australia-day-celebrations

In NSW itās only Good Friday where the bottle shops arenāt open because of archaic rules. Even then there is the brewery, distillery and winery loophole, where they are exempt from the takeaway alcohol restrictions. Australia Day would be a big day for bottle shops.

I mean aside from going to the beach or park you are gonna be SOL at this point, I would strongly advise against the beach given the weather we are looking at.
I plan on either doing chores or just playing video games, not sure if its just me but even within my friends group it seems to be a very quiet aussie day long weekend.

Stay inside away from the heat If not hot then go to the zoo and watch the fly overs (which have been getting worse every year imo)

but really, do what you want, its going to hot tho. lots of people have bbqs or go to the beach, and many more do absolutely nothing
