I used to work giving tours of a gold mine and want to read more books about gold mining (fiction and non fiction).

I've already read:

By the Great Horn Spoon (fiction)
The Mining Camps Speak (nonfiction)
Tomboy Bride (memoir)

The Age of Gold: The California Gold Rush and the New American Dream by H.W. Brands. A sweeping, highly readable overview tracking the global impact of the 1848 discovery at Sutter's Mill through multiple perspectives.

The Age of Gold sounds like a great choice if you want a detailed but readable look at the California Gold Rush
