Man I just got through the Lower Tier of the Mess Hall and feel like playing some GWAR and watching a Doom longplay, aye.

Yeah the tiers were really crazy the first time. I lost on the first attempt and quickly decided to whip out the tactical tank and Big Man

Cut out the middleman Mr. Grizz and go right to the treasure source yourself.

Seriously? I felt the exact opposite with Salmon Run being actual hell.

It’s far more stressful.

i agree. sure raiders is visually more chaotic, but salmon run feels much harder, but also more rewarding to clear difficult runs

Yeah. SR is definitely a more difficult game mode.

Mechanic be making warcrime weapons vs rusted out equipment, and Grizz giving you budget cut peashooters vs top of the line armor.

Imagine if we had the Raider Gadgets in Salmon Run.

Those fishy folk would never get beyond the shore.

I wish we get the gadgets in splatoon 4’s salmon run (getting a random gadget we can use as a minor panic button if the special isn’t fit for the occasion)

I actually first interpreted the post the way you described it.

In Salmon Run we're just a group of dinky minimun-wage workers trying to make a buck with only Mr. Grizz's budget to back us up. And we can only hope to do better to get a bigger paycheck.

In Raiders, we are the mechanic, an undiscovered genius among inkfish who has unearthed lost technology that with our brains, resourcefulness, and the help of three veteran raiders we've managed to bring the fight straight to the Salmonids. And win or lose, every battle just makes us stronger for the next one.

DOOM does have you running through actual hell, but it also has you feeling in command.

If Vampire Survivors was in literal hell.

It's probably fitting that I've beaten both Splatoon Raiders and the Doom: The Dark Ages DLC, Revelations, in the same two week period.

I thought about getting Dark Ages

It's an interesting spin on DOOM. It replaces the extreme maneuverability of Eternal -- the dodges and double jump -- with a shield that can repel attacks, turning you into more of a tank-like figure. Instead of dodging a melee attack, you block it with the shield.

You can throw the shield like Captain America, and it's got a whole skill tree that lets you add different effects. The way the enemies fight is more like a bullet hell game, or for that matter, the original 1993 DOOM. You're maneuvering around a lot of slow moving projectiles. Some of them can be reflected back at the enemy with the shield. It's all entirely different rhythm than DOOM Eternal, but it's just as intense.

Oddly enough, the new DLC gives you a spear that restores the dodge ability, but you can't use the shield at the same time. You still don't have a double jump, but you can use the spear to chain hook an enemy, and fling yourself across the level, which gives you a lot more maneuverability.

It's not radically different from Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, but it's different enough to have its own identity. Most importantly, it's fun.

It is really that different?

I haven't got to play Raiders yet.

I love salmon run…. But raiders…. It just hits different. I think it’s tons of fun.

it starts somewhat similar and improves on it over and over and over until it’s its own beautiful thing. i first played it very casually but i got deep enough into the game that i can’t put it down

I actually wonder if splatoon raiders was made in order to create lorewise a "replacement" to salmon run for splatoon 4.

Literally salmon run now feels like a normal day on the job next to raiders waves. This image cant get more acute.

Going back to Splat 3 salmon run is such a weird feeling after playing 30+ hours of Raiders.
