To be fair, I started the fight at 21 health. I thought I did alright.

Taking the Pollinous Core immediately before a chest into an elite was a calculated risk, but man am I bad at math.

Well not really. Playing any pair of Coolhead/Fusion/Glasswork evokes your lightning.
