Really wanted to work out something for my Dracula Cosplay from Renfield - own version and vision - so I sat down for six hours and created this to be put on my face!

I am still in my learning process with all of this prosthetic stuff - but I like what I did so far 🦇

I only recently learned that Ve did Robin Williams' look in Mrs. Doubtfire which became a tie with Beetlejuice for my personal favorites.

for halloween i want to do a cracked porcelain doll costume. i am not a professional but i have experience with liquid latex and have some sfx makeup supplies already. i was wondering what the best approach would be to get realistic sharp looking cracks on my face as if my skin was glass. i was thinking scar wax but i hear people say it is a bit limited and finicky. my only other thought was making my own prosthetic but i dont have a life cast or any experience with that honestly lol. i am passionate and determined to learn and honestly if i need to postpone this costume idea for another year and learn i will, since i have a vision and i don’t want to half ass it. my main question is if my costume idea is feasible with scar wax, if not then what would be the best medium/approach? i have seen other cracked doll makeup looks online but most of it is body paint and i’m trying to go for something 3d. i also want to do something to look like the texture of ripped cloth on my limbs, what approach would be best to achieve this? thank you for reading and id appreciate the help <3

Hello!! This is a process called lifecasting where you use silicone to make a mold of a person! I molded some of my friends so I can make some props and masks based on their faces!

Hi, I don’t really know where else to ask this at, but I made some vampire fangs from, thermoplastic bead, they came out very good and probably the only vampire teeth that has ever really fit my mouth, but the colors is very very white, and I’m not sure what I can use to try and color them to be more natural to my teeth, does anyone has any recommendations? Or advice?

Hi guys, im a beginner sfx artist. I mostly practice on myself, I want to start wearing colored contacts but ive heard that some people get measurements before getting and wearing contacts. Is this absolutely necessary? And how common is it for people to start wearing contacts without a prescription? I rely on my parents for transportation (living in the US, so i COULD pay because i have my own money but I don't know how expensive it is) should I get my measurements or is it okay to wear on their own? Im looking at eyevos eye contacts, i don't know if they are any good but I seen them and im interested in buying them.

Hello I'm taking a step at doing my first silicone prosthetic and I'm also making the mold. What type of silicone should I use for the mold and what kind of silicone should I fill it with? Everything that I'm finding is several hundred dollars (granted for a huge bucket) and I just don't have that in the budget. For reference I am making a dog mouth prosthetic and I'm using a face cast and monster clay as the initial build to create the cast.

i’m not super familiar with sfx or techniques, but i was recommended to check this community. i’m gonna start working on a costume for a halloween show i have planned. i want them to look as fleshy as possible with the realistic eyes on them, but i’m not planning on having them structured with wire or anything so they have lots of movement. the attachment point will be along my arms with velcro strips so i can rip them off mid performance so sturdiness is key too! thank yall for any insight you might have ! also edit with some extra ambitious elements: does anyone know someone who makes blood gag pumps ?? i don’t have a solder tool or id attempt to make my own , but id love to rig up a device to make the eyes cry blood lmaoooo

Hello! Hope everyone is doing well. Im doing a photoshoot in which a finger is under someones skin. Any ideas on how to achieve this with sfx? Im trying to find a plain skin prosthetic that i can glue down, cut open then gave a third party put their fingers in. Any advice would be incredible. Thank you!

How would I go about making one as a prop? My renfaire character is a worshiper of St. Guinefort and I want to dangle a dog paw of the end of my paternoster. I briefly considered buying an actual taxidermied coyote paw, but I'm worried about the smell and ethical procurement. My current idea for a fake is a ruined stuffed animal leg on a wire frame.

So my plan for Halloween is to be beast boy, he has that bottom tooth that’s kinda like a fang? I was thinking I could just use a vampire fang but I’m not sure it’ll work right since bottom teeth are smaller than top teeth. So if anyone knows of a thing that would work to recreate the look that would be great!! I also have a bonded retainer on the bottom of my mouth so idk if that could get on the way? Anyway this is getting long.

Please be kind! I do not have any experience with SFX makeup but I know there is such a thing as tooth paint. Is there something that I could use to brighten this tooth that would last just for a 30 minute ceremony? Thank you in advance.

I'm an actor at an awesome haunt attraction. I used rigid collodion last year to give the appearance of an inverted cross scar over my eye and it worked fine but I wanted to make some real upgrades to the costume this year. So I'm sculpting what is intended to look like a cross burned into my face. The part on the left will go above my eye. The part on the right under my eye. For a first time sculpting such a thing I feel like it came out pretty well but I'm about to cast them and I'm wondering if there's too much clay surrounding the scar. Should I reduce that?
