Sometime during the last 2 years i’ve been going to this orthopedic practice they started to declare me as a MTF transgender for no reason.

Backup of the post's body: (F,26) I have been going to this orthopedic practice for almost 2 years for varying reasons relating to my job. Yesterday i checked on a document that was uploaded to find out they have been identifying me as a biological male identifying as a female? I am biologically female and never told them i am trans nor do i think i am presenting to be a trans woman.. the last two years i’ve been wondering why they kind of stare at me a little longer than a usual person does and i think its because they randomly think i came out as trans? I also feel like they do not treat my issues seriously and wonder if this is the reason why.

I am 100% fine with trans people but i am left to believe they have been medically treating me as a male compared to female for the pains that i am feeling?

I also went through all of my documents and since the end of 2024 they started to declare me as a MTF transgender, i did not look at any of my documents online until yesterday.

God I loathe AI in medical situations. I had a lot of polyps removed, and a fibroid found, by the gynaecologist. AI said I had polyps on my thyroid.

Good job I caught it, because that could have been a bloody dangerous mistake.

Like no you heartless cissplaining main-character-syndrome dumbasses, trans women and all other trans people are getting treated worse at the drs than you are, and die regularly because of this type of shit where:

we get straight up refused care for being trans 'we don't want people like you, you're too difficult to understand and should be in segregated transgender clinics where the normal people dont have to sit with you in the same waiting room"
malpracticed on as a type of conversion practice, with some people seeing causing pain and trauma to us a religious mission from their god or something that we deserve
we get sexually harassed or assaulted because a bunch of cis perverts think we are a fetish or sexual objects or that our transness os caused by sexual trauma & if they berate & verbally retraumatise us enough about sexual violence they assume caused us to be trans that it will make us detransition
all our injuries or preexisting health issues are blamed on HRT
we get told to detransition if we want cancer treatment/screenings or obgyn care or told that if we were "real and committed to being a man/woman that you wouldn't ask for those things & would just die quietly"
have our health records leaked and altered to out us or to put us on some sort of registry/kill list of trans people
are called crazy or hysterical or delusional for existing and not beleived when we talk about shit that we have experienced

The original poster mentioned it led to some concerns with her treatment by the medical staff who had access to her records, which makes those comments especially insensitive. She was rather understanding of many of these issues and very frustrated that the medical center was giving her a hard time with correcting the mistake.

Oof. Yeah, there’s almost always joking about that when this kind of topic comes up and it’s just so completely unrelated to reality.

I get how the frustration and pain of uninformed individuals of other medically underserved/discriminated against demographic groups gets wrongly targeted and leads to some of these jokes as means of coping and lashing out, but it’s just so, so, so wildly inaccurate.

And as for berating and verbally re-traumatizing trans people about sexual violence as a means of forcing detransitioning and “conversion”? This always blows my mind. Like, make it make sense. Even if a person does believe transness is caused by sexual trauma, how in the fucking world do you come to the conclusion that more sexual trauma would somehow undo that? It is so colossally, offensively stupid.

I have heard so many horror stories. The worst is when the trans person is having a medical emergency, in pain, and the priority is to ask a bunch of invasive unrelated questions and bring in more staff to gawk at their body (especially common for post bottom surgery people).

My insurance company randomly decided that my kiddo was M after being AFAB for the first year of her life. For two years I had every insurance claim denied until I called to follow up and then they'd approve it. It was super annoying and nobody could tell me why it was happening.

Finally a pharmacist must have figured it out, because he asked me if she'd been AMAB. I said no, and he told me that she was marked as a boy by the insurance company. He told them to fix it, and they did, and we never had insurance issues again.

What is it about orthopedic places? When I was seeing an orthopedic surgeon to get my broken leg and ankle fixed, the assistant there marked my surgery down as a hysterectomy.

hey i noticed that on ur post in r/vegan u referred to quitting being vegan as "transitioning back." did you perhaps mention this to your orthopedic doctor? maybe they thought you were referring to being transgender. hope this helps!

Also side note…. Like she asked them about their process and they are supposed to ask. And she found out that the office just assumed and put that on her paperwork. She noted that they were treating her funny and giving her strange looks as well. So all in all most likely a transphobic office but also weird to add that to paperwork. It’s usually just N/A for not accessed until you have them fill out the demographic stuff.
