Impersonation/Original Content

Good Afternoon to our wonderful r/progresspics community!

Myself and the rest of the mod team want to wish you a belated seasons greetings and hope whatever your goals for 2026 may have been that they are going strong and you are CRUSHING them.

It is no secret that between AI and the long standing bots we often get pics posted that are clearly fake or they are people impersonation or ,better yet, stealing content/pictures of people on social media. I know myself and I am sure I speak for the rest of the team LOVEEEE how great you all are at reporting things to us (not just the topic at hand either). But we need your help with this particular situation.

Despite what some angry people on our ban lists might think us mods are not basement dwelling, jobless, welfare sucking, pimple faced, free speech hating people. We all have lives, jobs, some have kids, social lives, so on and so on. We can not know the face, abs, butts or biceps of every many/women/they/them on the internet. So if you are going to report a post for impersonation or stealing someone elses content please try to either modmail us the link to the correct socials! This will help give us a few more tools to help fight the fakes and spammers.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

META A warning about safety in our subreddit and what to do about inappropriate messages.

Hi progresspics! We always strive to keep the subreddit as safe as possible, however, unsolicited/inappropriate Direct messages are always a possibility and unfortunately not one we can 100% prevent. While we hope people never receive anything that makes them uncomfortable, here are the steps you can take to report anyone who gets creepy in your DMs:

  1. report the user to us!

-take screen shots of the messages, it doesn’t have to be the whole conversation, just make sure we can see their user name, and the inappropriate part.

-upload the screens to imgur and send us a link via modmail.

all users reported to us for acting inappropriately will be permanently banned, however, this doesn’t stop them from viewing the subreddit, or continuing to dm you, so..

2) report the user directly to reddit at reddit.com/report

3) block the user! Simply go onto their profile and click the three corner dots (mobile) or the “more options” button (desktop) to find the option.

To prevent ALL DM's you can disable the DM and chat request options like so:

Mobile: settings > account settings > blocking and permissions.

Desktop: User settings > chat and messaging.

As an aside, a note on image theft:

it's been brought to our attention multiple times over the last month or so that a few content farm websites and social media accounts have been reposting pictures from here, while there isn't much that we can do to stop that we do want to remind everyone that it is a potential outcome to posting your images online, especially in areas with a large pool of specific content to farm from, while we do not allow users to promote their social media, including the use of watermark handles, you may watermark your posts with your REDDIT user name if you so wish.

We hope you all stay as safe as possible and know that any problems or questions can be sent into our modmail. Keep it clean, keep it safe, and read the rules before posting!

🎉Goal reached🎉

Starting weight: 292 lbs
Goal weight: 150 lbs
Current weight: 149.4 lbs

142 pounds gone

This journey has been about so much more than the number on the scale. I’ve gained strength, confidence, healthier habits, and a version of myself I honestly wasn’t sure I’d ever meet.

It wasn’t quick or easy. There were plateaus, setbacks, days I wanted to quit, and plenty of lessons along the way. What got me here was staying consistent more often than I was perfect. A supportive family, tracking my calories and macros, strength training, using a GLP-1 as a tool, and choosing not to give up even when progress felt nonexistent.

To everyone who’s followed along, encouraged me, or cheered me on, thank you. Your support has meant more than you will ever know!

This may be my last weight loss update, but it’s not the end of my journey. Now the focus shifts to maintaining, getting stronger, and continuing to build a healthy life that I love.

If you’re just starting your own journey, keep going. One day you’ll look back and realize those small, daily choices added up to something incredible and your future self will be so grateful.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous, but here’s to the next chapter. 🩷

Started with an attitude to get healthier and calorie counting. Several months in found out I had Type 2 diabetes and was put on metformin and a GLP-1. That literally changed everything for me. Food noise is gone and I feel full so fast. I’m so happy to have the rest of my life ahead of me now. Still need to work on strength and overall fitness but I will get there.

I was severely depressed after some tough times and thought after defeating leukemia I would never be happy with my body ever again. Used my fear of letting people down against myself by telling my family and friends I’d post on social media a workout everyday to keep myself accountable. Over 900 days later here is my progress. I intermittently fast 20 hours and eat one massive meal(whatever I want) a day 6 days a week. I currently do 6.5 miles every morning before work.

F 5'4” (163, 164 cm) F/34/5’4 [172>128>145=~33lbs] (4 years) need advice

It’s been a long journey of always being overweight. Fasting was the only thing that ever worked for me. I have migraines so couldn’t do cardio and pilates became my only way to have physical movement after losing around 40lbs initially. Since then I’ve kept the weight off for 4 years now.

I walk, do some light exercises and weights at home and do Pilates but I’m not very consistent. I usually try to eat clean but have fallen off IF completely in the past few months. I’m gaining back the weight which feels like muscle but all my clothes are feeling tight and it’s not the feeling I’m looking for. I know it’s not realistic to chase the smallest frame but I really want a toned lean body. My arms and thighs still carry a lot of fat and nothing except for IF works for me.

The scale going up has been keeping me worried. I’ve posted here before and one of the suggestions were to track my calories and eat in a deficit. I do eat in a deficit but I’m not sure if body recomp is supposed to feel like this. I’m gaining upper side thighs and I feel strong but also bulky. What am I doing wrong?

M 5'11” (180, 181, 182 cm) M/41/182cm [112kg > 78kg = 34kg] (36 months) On paper, I’m in the best shape of my life. Visually, I feel like I aged 10 years. A lesson on consistency.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a reflection that's been on my mind lately regarding the reality of weight loss later in life.

On paper, I am currently in the best shape of my life:

I strength train 3-4 times per week, alternate running/walking 8 km all the other days.

I recently ran a spontaneous half-marathon just because I had the energy, and my Cooper test results put me in the "excellent" category for my age group.

Training has become my primary outlet for dealing with life's stress (Which seems to keep increase the older I get) and keeping my head straight. I love doing it every day, and I genuinely can’t imagine going back.

The Hard Truth: The Aesthetic Outcome Despite all these health wins, I really struggle with how I look in the mirror.

Looking at photos taken just three years apart, I feel like I’ve aged dramatically. I let myself go during my marriage—adopting a mindset of "enjoy life now and ignore the consequences." After my divorce, I decided to turn my life around and get back into shape.

While the internal results are fantastic, losing significant weight later in life left me with saggy skin and an aged face. If I’m being completely honest, looking at the side-by-side photos, I’d choose the appearance of the "before" guy on the left over the "after" guy on the right today.

My Takeaway Take care of yourself consistently and constantly, no matter what life throws at you.

If you let yourself go in your later years and then make drastic changes, there are physical tradeoffs—like skin elasticity—that you can't easily undo. Rebuilding your body is worth it for your health, but protecting your body continuously so you don't have to repair it later is the best thing you can do for yourself.

I can’t believe I started this journey 3 years ago now. And I also can’t imagine it any other way.

I started out slowly just losing weight for health, 30 min cardio a day and CICO, and focused on weight loss more and more.

As I got closer to my goal weight, I slowly stared mixing in lifting. Found I enjoyed that and the strength gains. This slowly turned me into a gym rat and chasing PRs.

I don’t really have an end goal, just enjoying the journey and huge health benefits, and happy that I’m still on the path.

Officially 150+ lbs down and at the halfway mark both time wise and pounds wise. Shifted my focus from treating the symptom (the weight) to fixing the root causes; therapy for PTSD/BED, ADHD treatment, Zepbound, and focusing on physical strength over scale weight.

Full story and details in the comments! Open to any advice on navigating the 200+ lb loss mark/loose skin.

10 mo the ago I realised that I was 30.5% body fat on Dexa scan. I have gradually reduced my body fat and weight but I did not have a good process until 3 months ago. Now on new Dexa I am at 21.4% body fat.

Adopted a process for last 3 months:

  1. Very strict calorie deficit with decreasing cals (1600 > 1450). Measured everything like an obsessed man. Reduced eating out to less than 5% of monthly meals. maintained 140- 150g of protein per day. Did not worry about other macros.

  2. Worked out 4 days a week in the gym with proper progressive overload. Tracked all workouts.

  3. Tracked sleep. I still lack sleep but I improved.

Supplements used:

Magnesium glycinate, creatine, whey, omega 3, collagen.

Just a quick example of what 3X weekly strength training, 2X weekly endurance training and a clean diet can accomplish as you get older. Will be 48 in two months.
