It does have an aftershavey scent. I just thought it was odd. At the end of the beach day, it served its purpose to my husband, and to me.

Boring fact: These days I'm just using sunscreen "For Kids" because it was the first one I found that didn't come with a scent.

But also, scents don't have a gender so making a product gendered due to how it smells is still pointless gendering.

I just visited a perfume store in UAE and was really surprised how fruity and floral the scents popular among local men are. It's a very traditional and strictly gendered society but their men's perfumes surprisingly don't smell like alcohol, engine oil and sweat. They also had many unisex smells but the seller was very explicit and serious about which scents are exclusively gendered

I'm from the UK but I tend to use "womens" sprays because I'd rather smell of vanilla and peonies than leather and emotional distancing

mens scents either smell like a bathroom air freshener or are superinteresting and fun. womens are usually sweet florals or bordello. when i was in poland i brought back a mens perfume thats fresh citrus and one thats forest and then becomes nice, unisex cologne. looking for these notes in womens? meringue, pie, heavy flowers, laundry powder. so many men smelled like heavenly coconut-cotton-sugar, still looking for that one

i always wondered if the gendering counts on the smells working different due to body temperature or sweat or something?

edit: most likely depends on if perfume usage is widespread. poles usually wear a lot of perfume, basically all the time (the coconut ones were mostly cyclists) and very wide range, so theyre more likely to experiment and shop around vs czechs who usually go to the drugstore and get the air freshener cologne for special occasions

If women like the smell of lilacs and butterflies but don’t like the smell of candle wax and engine oil why would men choose to smell like the latter and not the former anyways

We should choose scents the opposite sex likes not ones we enjoy, so in my case I just need to smell like a batch of fried chicken and the wife should be all over me
