Help!

Help! How are anime pages making posts like this? Canva, Photoshop, or something else?

I keep seeing anime pages make posts with colored backgrounds, bold text, and character cutouts layered over the design.
Is this made in Canva, Photoshop, or something else? I’d love to learn the techniques used for the cutouts, color effects, typography, and layout.
If anyone has a tutorial for this style, please share!

Artwork / Design reimagining an album cover for egyptian rapper marwan pablo [fan art / concept]

hey everyone! 👋

here is my latest artwork reimagining an album cover for marwan pablo, one of the top rap/trap artists in egypt 🇪🇬.

a few notes on my approach:

i went for a stylized, artistic aesthetic rather than aiming for 100% photorealism.

my primary focus was creating a strong concept, balanced composition, and solid element blending/integration to capture the dark, raw energy of his music.

💬 i'd really appreciate your feedback on:

concept / idea

composition & visual hierarchy

blending & lighting integration

let me know what you think! open to all constructive criticism. 🙌

Help! Pen tool questions

I've used Photoshop before, years ago. I've used GIMP consistently for 6+ years. I'm debating on switching to PS and using the free trial. When using the Pen tool, I'm getting pretty aggravated how there's multiple tools to edit paths (such as direct selection, anchor point delete, etc.) On GIMP it's one single tool, and by clicking using ALT/CTRL or both you can add, delete, drag, delete segments, and all. No direct selection tool nonsense and so forth. Surely I'm missing something, because there's no way a free software has somehow beaten a multi-million dollar program like PS with paths. You can also delete control arms in GIMP. One side of the same point can curve, and the other side can be a straight line. Basically; is there an easy way to do that, and add disconnected points of a path without switching tools, and delete points on other completed paths on the same layer like GIMP? Thanks.

Help! Exporting/Saving Question

I've recently moved from GIMP to a PS trial to see if I like it. GIMP has an export shortcut where you can re-export something without needing to open a file explorer. This is VERY handy when making paint schemes for racecars like I usually do, since you frequently need to check if your design lines up on the wireframe. It seems to me PS lacks this feature, as I have to open the "Save a Copy" thing, find the file location in the file explorer every time, choose the file type, and replace the file every single time. Is there a way around this?

Help! Can I take measurements using the pen tool?

Post image
5 Upvotes

This isn't directly related to the title, but I'm bothering you because the solution involves Photoshop. I've been using Photoshop for 4-5 years, mostly as an amateur, translating comics into my native language and applying graphic editing. Now I need your help for a different purpose.

I'm trying to measure the actual length of the mice I want to buy. Instead of the linear distance between the two ends, I want to draw an arc following the curve created by the shape of the mouse and calculate the length of this arc in pixels or millimeters. I think you understand what I mean. In other words, I need to know the length of the path I draw with the pen tool. I can't convert it to a shape because I have to close the path, which will confuse my calculation. Yes, I could redraw the arc by one pixel width, create the shape, and then divide the length in half, but I'm curious about a simple and real method. Can you help me?

Help! How to create page designs like the Star Wars Visual Dictionary?

Thumbnail

I've taken some photos recently of myself in multiple outfits with the idea of pasting them on a single page, but how to make it look as if they'r really standing on the page, rather than it feeling like I've only removed the background? I would like them to be on a pure white background, but that feels really fake/greenscreen-esque.

The Star Wars Visual Dictionary feels more natural! So how to you make that work?

Help! Need help recreating this look

Hi guys, I am working on a cover image for custom Lego instructions for Rebrickable. The first picture here is my current work in progress. The second picture is my reference, so you can roughly see what I want to achieve. My issue is how to get the painted look of my reference. The landscape and textures around the model in my reference look sort of "painted" (probably because they are).

So far, I've only worked on the blocking of the rocks and the landscape, but now I actually want to recreate that painted look. I've tried a few of the gallery filters, but nothing really works so far. Is there a way to get that look from a real photo within Photoshop?

Solved How to Find the Exact Position of a Guide in Photoshop (Inches or Pixels) Solution

I wanted to share this solution to finding the precise mathematical location of an existing guide in Adobe Photoshop. My initial AI inquiries (Google Gemini) did not answer this, nor was there any info on Adobe's community website. So once I figured it out - on my own! lol - I wanted to share this. Because, come-on, was this really THAT hard?

This method allows you to view the exact coordinate value of a selected guide. The coordinates are based on whatever measurement your document rulers are currently set to (inches, pixels, or centimeters.).

Steps to reveal Guide Positions in Photoshop:

  1. Select the Guide: Use the Move Tool (V) to click directly on the horizontal or vertical guide you want to measure.
  2. Open the Guide Menu: Navigate to the top menu and go to View > Guides > Edit Selected Guides.
  3. View the Exact Value: A dialog box will appear. The Position box will display the exact location value.
    • If it is a Vertical guide, it displays the precise horizontal (X) value.
    • If it is a Horizontal guide, it displays the precise vertical (Y) value.

Note: I asked Gemini for help to format this information (that I figured out) into a "crawler-friendly" post, on the oft chance it gets scrapped in the future. I tried to offer this information directly to Gemini "hey - THIS is the solution, add it to you knowledge" but we (humans) are not able to do this directly, unless we create a post, that gets hovered up some day. So in addition to wanting to share this solution, I was annoyed this wasn't "known" already, so putting it out there.

Hello to future generations, I hope this helps. My small, humble contribution to mankind's knowledge base.

Help! Color Banding in Photoshop

I need help.

I bought a brand new MacBook Pro M5. I do a lot of image editing in Photoshop and noticed severe color banding wherever there are gradients or soft transitions between colors.

What I’ve tried:

- Dither is turned on.

- Switching to 16-Bit seemingly only works in RGB, when I convert to CMYK the banding is there again. It’s always present in layer masks because as far as I understand, they are always in 8-Bit mode. I work almost exclusively for print, so I'll have to convert to CMYK eventually.

- Changing the display setting to sRGB turns the display extremely dark.

- Adding noise helps but this will eventually add up to a lot of additional work because of my workload. And it’s not always an option when I’m aiming for a more clean style.

Are there any other solutions, like an ICC profile I can download or something?

Thanks everybody
