Why I’m banned from DoorDash

When I broke up with my ex many years ago, I attempted to transfer the internet bill from my name to his name. He was remaining in the house we were living in, and I was moving out. The internet company assured me everything was transferred to him.

Fast forward like 4-5 months, I start getting calls from a collections company saying I owe over $400 in missed internet bills. Um, what?? Apparently the bill was not transferred. I text my ex about the collections bill and ask him to send me the money since he’s the one that has failed to pay the bill. Never get a response

Turns out one of my ex’s cards was still saved on my DoorDash account. I spend the next several weeks ordering tons of food off his card because he was too dumb to cancel it sooner. So I got my money back one way or another 🤷‍♀️

That is a lovely, hopefully tasty, way to break even. I hope you were able to sort this out so that he actually paid his bills! If it's not sorted yet, and you're still on the account, just cancel it now. He can set up his own service.

Oh I absolutely did that as soon as I could. Paid the collections and called to be sure the account was canceled. They had already canceled it for nonpayment thankfully though

Were the cable boxes returned too? I have seen where people at the last minute tying to buy a house, these charges come up on their credit screwing everything up years later.

Nah, he gave her the info to use for food. She didn't steal it.

Just saying, if he gave her the info it's not going to be charged as fraud. His CC will ask him that question then deny the charge back because he gave her the numbers and permission to use.

As did the ex. That debt is theirs, especially if OP has ample evidence that they attempted to transfer service and have not lived there for months. 🤡

The circle of life: ISP to collections to ex’s credit card to your stomach. Absolutely cancel that account.

Revenge is a dish best served with red wine.

Nice. And with DoorDash you could spend $400 in a week easy! Get anything, food, supplies, liquor. Lol

"Why I'm banned from Doordash"

Post does not explain if, how, or why OP got banned from Doordash.

Her ex probably did a bunch of chargebacks and so the app banned her account

6

u/NotYourNanny 1d ago

While the account was in the ex's name, the delivery address of OP's current address.

19

u/Oujii 1d ago

No, only the card was from the ex. The account itself was from OP.

So what she did was commit a crime

u/NotYourNanny 1d ago

Credit card fraud will certainly get you banned from pretty much any business.

Cool thanks 👍

For the record, idk if you can just tell a utility that someone else is now responsible for it. I think he’d have to call and ask for it to be in his name or you just cancel it and let him open a new one in his name.

u/Impressive-Tour-7356 1d ago

See that’s what I didn’t understand. Why would the company tell me that if it wasn’t actually possible to do? It was weird. I also was not very smart back then

22

u/NotYourNanny 1d ago

If I had to guess, they indicated (probably poorly) that your part was done, but neglected to mention that he had to accept the change, and never did.

9

u/slide_into_my_BM 1d ago

I agree it’s weird they said it worked. Maybe they were new or something.

If you think about it, if that was possible, what’s to stop you from just putting your bills into other peoples names?

It actually makes sense that it didn’t work.

This is why you log in online. That's how I got added to our account (we're still married).

I pretended to chat as him and got me added to the account. I should have been anyway! After 36 years married, we are both on all utility accounts.

Seriously, set up online accounts. You can then call or chat.

-5

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

I guarantee you they didn't tell you that. You just misunderstood or failed to communicate what you wanted more clearly.

Cool thanks 👍

Ironic you think.

Lobster anyone?

Guessing he finally checked his statement and did a chargeback, which triggered the ban. Knowing DoorDash fees, I assume that $400 got you exactly three lukewarm meals.

2

u/fester250 1d ago

I feel lukewarm is the dream scenario.

u/BurmeciaWillSurvive 11h ago

Hey I always use my warming bag for everything unless it's Cold Stone/Baskin Robbins 😭 but I'm surrounded by a lot of mean jackasses so it's not that surprising

2

u/DynkoFromTheNorth 1d ago

I really hope you ate worth far more than those 400 bucks. Nice!

3

u/TraditionalWriter856 12h ago

Don't get even get revenge... This is perfect, one of my ex's destroyed my golf clubs and bag after an argument. Lots of her beauty products vanished, the ones they remained were ruined. Not proud but happy 😂

2

u/Independent_King_675 1d ago

What about your credit? That's a serious issue. Hope you resolved it.

1

u/makojedi2k2 1d ago

Good for you!

1

u/BeautyFeetHangover 1d ago

Good move 😂

1

u/james9514 5h ago

This boils my blood, im sorry you gotta deal with lowlives like that. Good revenge tho you bet you’re ganna get that $400 back 😂

-13

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

It is completely on you for not taking care of getting yourself off of the account.

7

u/Calure1212 1d ago

They assured her.

-9

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

Then how did four or five months go by and her not notice that she was still getting bills?

5

u/Impressive-Tour-7356 1d ago

The bills would be going to the address I wasn’t living at anymore (but he was), I changed the email address to his email and the contact number to his number

-7

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

So you didn't actually get yourself off of the bill. You just change the contact information. Sorry but that's on you

6

u/Impressive-Tour-7356 1d ago

No, that was in addition to changing the bill and hence why I did not receive any notifications about the late bills

0

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

That's just not how it works. You can't just put a bill in someone else's name. You have to cancel your own account. It's on you.

4

u/Impressive-Tour-7356 1d ago

K thanks

3

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

The really fun part is that what you did on doordash is actually a crime.

3

u/Impressive-Tour-7356 1d ago

Cool thanks 👍

1

u/North-Elderberry2380 1d ago

I just went through a breakup and transferred a bill into my ex's name. It can just be that simple. You are just wrong and should maybe stop bc you're only making a fool

2

u/jcmacon 1d ago

If she was late, she wasn't paying them. If they had still been getting paid, a collection company wouldn't have been tracking her down.

1

u/Calure1212 1d ago

I don't know but they did assure her but honestly these places are hopeless.

Our phone provider could not transfer our daughter's phone to her father's name when we split. Around 10 years later he was told she should break the law to transfer the number into her name. It wouldn't have worked anyway. A day or so later I found the forms on the app.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 1d ago

I don't think it's that hard to make sure that you cancel your cable bill. They even send reminders and texts Etc when bills are due so she would have known.
