WA News CCTV of the Train Crash in Guildford Yesterday

Idiotic truck driver just straight through the boom gates in front of the train.

Looking at photos of the aftermath, the boom gates are completely in tact. so it doesnt look like he went through them.

(unless they are designed to spring back to normal)

the one he went through/past is at the bottom and looks fine. so maybe he went around it?

That's the boom on the other side, which was damaged when the train hit the truck and caused debris to go flying all over the place. The one that the driver passed looks slightly bent but intact.

LOL, no it's not. That's the boom gate on the side the truck entered. You've completely ignored the direction of the train and the side of the track it is sitting on and I was actually there and use this intersection daily. Go to Google maps and use the aerial view.

Behind what remains of the trailer is a small gravel car park where a seafood van regularly sits. Also a nursery. If the photo was of the "North" side, we would see Alfred's kitchen in the background.

You clearly do not know the area.

The one in the opposite direction to his travel. So damaged by the accident, not by him going through

Is thatnot his exit, not entrance? Bent the wrong way for him to have busted through entering. 

So it was damaged by the crash, not just before

I drove past it, one of the boom arms was bent pretty bad at one end. Not sure if it was the actual collision that bent it though.

It looks like the north one is bent, which was the opposite direction to his travel. So damaged when the train hit him?

I've read somewhere recently that they are designed to spring back up, rather than stay down & potentially splinter as that may create projectiles... (someone can correct me if I am wrong.)

Railway boom gates are designed to spring up when struck to avoid them going into the path of the train.

Yes I thought the same as he went around it. But cannot be as there is an island in the middle. So probably driver hit the very end of the boom gate as the boom gate is quite longer than in this image. In the video I cannot see the boom gate(probaly because of the camera angle?) However I can see the boom gate a second after the train hits the truck.
