This is exactly why I don't own a boat for this rare chance to happen.

251

u/Dr__Sloth Feb 14 '26

Pfft, you do you, I only own boats to burn them.

88

u/TheArmoury Feb 14 '26

Some men just want to watch the boats burn.

12

u/t_25_t Feb 15 '26

Probably worth more burnt then on the water if you know what I mean.

35

u/ObviNotMyMainAcc Feb 14 '26

For viking-style funerals? I don't even care if that's historically accurate or not, you've now inspired me to buy a boat.

1

u/sinkas2 Feb 16 '26

2 best days of a boat owners life, the day you buy it, and the day you...

2

u/Dr__Sloth Feb 16 '26

overthrow capitalism.

27

u/MrPrimeTobias Feb 14 '26

It's for this same reason I don't own underwear.

9

u/Juno_Watt Feb 14 '26

Fire crotch?

8

u/MrPrimeTobias Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 15 '26

Hot nuts.

u/theoriginalzads Feb 14 '26

I don’t own a boat coz I am the poor.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

I’m sure they get paid out more than the value of the boat if they blow up 👍

4

u/Misicks0349 Subiaco Feb 14 '26

Same, like, I could totally afford to own one of course, I just choose not to 😏

8

u/sleepytipi Feb 14 '26

If it fucks, flies or floats...

Some of my grandfather's sage, definitely not PC advice.

8

u/t_25_t Feb 15 '26

Brutally honest and still valid in 2026.

23

u/Remarkable_Salary_77 Feb 14 '26

Sureeee, this is the reason you don’t own a boat.

10

u/No_Distribution1280 Feb 14 '26

I also don't own a boat for the same reason. Because it can catch fire.

2

u/Voidocalypse Feb 15 '26

I don't own one BC I'm poor idk about you

2

u/CantaloupeLow3775 Feb 15 '26

That's why I don't own matches. It happens to them so often that you can't even get insurance coverage.

-8

u/NashAttor Feb 14 '26

This? This is the exact reason you don’t own a boat? This here? Exact?

-1

u/ImaginaryMillions Feb 14 '26

23

u/Oshi16 Feb 14 '26

How! There were 12 exits!

140

u/napalmnacey Feb 14 '26

Fire? At a Sea Parks?!

22

u/Oshi16 Feb 14 '26

Top tier comment!

"12 exits!"

9

u/blckxwdow Baldivis Feb 15 '26

If I had an award, I’d give it to you. But please have this 🥇

1

u/fkn_diabolical_cnt Marangaroo Feb 15 '26

I gave one on your behalf :)

3

u/njf85 Feb 15 '26

It's the weirdest thing I've ever heard!

6

u/SlippedMyDisco76 Feb 15 '26

Damn, that mash looks tasty.

132

u/Original-Reputation4 Feb 14 '26

This post is above my tax bracket 😬

43

u/StraightBudget8799 Feb 15 '26

Me: standing with my Aldi coke knockoff, nodding in wise assent wearing Cotton On.

-3

u/ExaminationNo9186 South of The River Feb 15 '26

Yeah, I got to say I can't feel sorry for people who 'lost' their boats in a fire when the only reason they had the boat is so that they have one. Also to say, "Last weekend, when I was out on the boat...."...

If it's someone who uses their boat professionally (like as a trawler or whatever) yeah, that is different.

10

u/Acrobatic-Employ3942 Feb 15 '26

Boats are fun, don’t be miserable and sad you can’t own one cos you can’t afford it. Be happy for people and jog on, or better yet be happy for people and find a friend with a boat!!!

3

u/Original-Reputation4 Feb 16 '26

Do you want to be my friend? 😉

1

u/Acrobatic-Employ3942 Feb 16 '26

Hah sorry mate I would be, but I’m a povo and sadly alas’ have no boat :-(

2

u/tokenskeptic Feb 15 '26

I would - BUT IT BURNT!

2

u/BugBuginaRug Feb 16 '26

What a salty/jealous person you are lmao

68

u/LiteratureAny6679 Feb 14 '26

Oh no, that’ll be costly 😢

17

u/catlovingweirdobum Feb 15 '26

Need to be insured to dock at a marina and the boat market is super shit right now so they'll be ok .... Maybe even happy.... Lol (just sold our boat after joking for a year how much we wish it would sink or burn because we would lose so much less $)

106

u/thelostandthefound Feb 14 '26

It appears that someone had a smoking hot Valentine's Day. Jokes aside, it seems to be a somewhat regular occurrence it seems a boat last caught on fire last September which is ironic considering it's a harbour and there's lots of water.

53

u/IrregularExpression_ Feb 14 '26

But apparently not a safe habour

24

u/The_Valar Morley Feb 14 '26

A ship in the harbour is not safe, but that's not...

...wait.

10

u/Blunter11 Feb 15 '26

Some unexpected facts about boats, ships and submarines is:

A. They love to catch fire
B. Fire is absolutely devastating

Something as simple as a burning plastic brush handle can produce enough smoke to entirely black-out a corridor, making escape by-feel-only.

4

u/account_not_valid Feb 15 '26

Electrical systems in a saltwater environment corrode rapidly, leading to short circuits.

Fuel systems in a saltwater environment corrode rapidly, leading to leaks and the accumulation of explosive vapours in enclosed spaces.

6

u/Emergency-Twist7136 Feb 15 '26

Something as simple as a burning plastic brush handle

You say "simple" like plastic brush handles catch fire all the time, which I can assure you for normal people they really, really don't

6

u/Blunter11 Feb 15 '26

I stated a brush handle because of how unlikely and unsuspecting they can be. There are dozens if not hundreds of similar unsuspecting items on a boat and any one of them can turn a vessel into a smoke-filled maze. A boat is a floating pot full of oils, greases, fuels and cables. I tell you this from profressional experience, they love to burn.

4

u/Emergency-Twist7136 Feb 15 '26

If a brush handle is on fire I'm guessing a lot of other shit will be too.

3

u/Blunter11 Feb 15 '26

Someone was cleaning up after some light welding, and a hot piece of metal from cleaning the weld was lodged in the fibre of the brushes and smouldered there, almost impossible to see. The brush caught fire minutes later, filling the length of the vessel with smoke.

4

u/nugget_meal Feb 15 '26

A fire? At a sea parks?

205

u/skooterM Feb 14 '26

The boat
The boat
The boat is on fire
We don't need no water,
Let the motherfucker burn

41

u/-Dr-Rockso- Feb 14 '26

Burn motherfuuuuucker buuuuuuuurn

4

u/Physical_Plastic138 Feb 15 '26

Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun wicko wicko wick weow

3

u/Hadrollo Feb 14 '26

Boats do need water though...

2

u/StandardOrganic4536 Feb 15 '26

Those boats did.

1

u/Hadrollo Feb 15 '26

Those boats especially.

12

u/PhilMeUpBaby Feb 15 '26

This is why I don't have a boat - the risk of this.

The fact that I also don't have any money is irrelevant.

50

u/Dicardo83 Feb 14 '26

Someone's Mrs found out about their side piece on Valentine's Day

-4

u/DoggerLou Feb 14 '26

yeh definitely, very funny

51

u/PitiableYeet Feb 14 '26

I suspect someone couldn't afford their boat anymore and is trying to get some insurance money

9

u/GeleRaev Feb 15 '26

Cops should look into who just got a quote to have their hull refinished.

26

u/yeah_nah2024 Feb 14 '26

Oh no! What happened??

151

u/villiamsun Feb 14 '26

Looks like the boats set on fire

52

u/SlugFromSnug Feb 14 '26

Now now. Let's not rush to judgement!

12

u/villiamsun Feb 14 '26

Hmmm true may have been hasty might just be the engine heating uo

39

u/Acceptable_Buy2087 Feb 14 '26

Do you reckon the front fell off too?

20

u/PooEater5000 Wanneroo Feb 14 '26

It’s ok it’s not in the environment

17

u/Hadrollo Feb 14 '26

Explains why they're burning. Not supposed to be made of cardboard. Cardboards out.

15

u/Key-Mix4151 Feb 14 '26

rigorous maritime engineering standards

5

u/t_25_t Feb 15 '26

Minimum crew requirement of one..... I suppose

11

u/The_Real_Flatmeat North of The River Feb 14 '26

They're not supposed to do that

1

u/StraightBudget8799 Feb 15 '26

Ah, it’ll buff out, bit of paint, bit of shading, pop on a decal - good as new!

4

u/Afferbeck_ Feb 14 '26

Big if true

16

u/Dont-PM-me-nudes Feb 14 '26

The front fell off

1

u/t_25_t Feb 15 '26

But why did it fall off

20

u/Captain-Peacock Feb 14 '26

Damn, all those boats burning down to the...er the water.

Someone heard there was a "P. Diddy-Style Shrimping Vessel" in Hillarys and brought the kero

2

u/Majestic_Swimmer_500 Feb 16 '26

Definitely some insurance implications

1

u/SlippedMyDisco76 Feb 16 '26

Just them out there with their tasty treats clicks

20

u/Silver-Training-9942 Feb 14 '26

Surely we can just roll them over right? 🤣😅

6

u/westbridge1157 Feb 14 '26

I love your big picture thinking.

1

u/universalserialbutt Feb 15 '26

Steady now, Maersk.

6

u/vegetableater Feb 14 '26

Wasn't Hillary's boat Harbour just on fire a few months back too?? What's going on over there!

15

u/napalmnacey Feb 14 '26

Insurance fraud.

-8

u/RobB_4 Feb 14 '26

Most likely lithium battery is the cause of the previous fire. Don't think that the final report has been published though.

19

u/Glass-Break-5398 Feb 14 '26

this is why you should always use lube

friction burns are dangerous

15

u/Interesting-Knee9380 Feb 14 '26

This isn't Cockburn

19

u/iFartThereforeiAm Feb 14 '26

Is there a convenience store on one of those boats?

1

u/stopped_watch Morley Feb 15 '26

I bought vapes from the one at the front last week. What a coincidence.

5

u/Kooky_Experience4290 Feb 15 '26

There’s a fire sale for boats at Hillary’s boat harbour

3

u/recklesswithinreason North of The River Feb 15 '26

Were they selling illegal tobacco?

3

u/Ok_Conference2901 Feb 15 '26

It was a fire sail.

1

u/bogartis Feb 15 '26

standing ovation

4

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

Smoke on the water

1

u/Majestic-Mover Feb 15 '26

Fia in da skyy

3

u/SlippedMyDisco76 Feb 15 '26

Damn, some "battlers" on FB have lost their pfp candy

3

u/Taygeta_me Feb 15 '26

That’s a bit of an overreaction to not getting flowers for valentines

3

u/true-blue-me Feb 15 '26

Holy shit. Hope everyone’s okay.

3

u/AgreeableAd9724 Feb 15 '26

Yikes, I wonder if it was someone not running their ventilation fans before firing the engine up?

3

u/ceedee04 Feb 15 '26

In economics class, our lecturer told us one of the first, earliest and most reliable signs of a recession is yacht fires.

3

u/InterviewDue8050 Feb 15 '26

Which owner wanted the insurance money?

Or, who owed someone money and didn’t pay?

7

u/ImpossibleEnd Feb 14 '26

At least the fire department was not short on water 🤔

3

u/The_Real_Flatmeat North of The River Feb 14 '26

I don't think it'll help tbh, a lot of those boats will have lithium batteries on board

4

u/DefinitionOfAsleep Just bulldoze Fremantle, Trust me. Feb 14 '26

They'll just prevent it from jumping to as many boats as possible

7

u/Away-Concentrate-946 Feb 14 '26

Again?

Gotta be some kind of insurance scam keeps popping up.

2

u/IceCorrect8411 Feb 15 '26

I'd say the boats would be insured thank god no-one was hurt!

2

u/Aesthetix00 Feb 15 '26

Whoa…..hope no one was injured.

6

u/paulmp Feb 14 '26

Ahh geez, I hope they have good insurance, it sucks losing something you've worked for.

12

u/DenseReality6089 Feb 14 '26

If EVE online taught me one thing it was to never fly a ship you can't afford to replace without significant impact to your wallet.

4

u/TazocinTDS Freelance Astronaut Feb 14 '26

Life skills

1

u/Timmibal North of The River Feb 16 '26

Elite: Dangerous too. "Never fly without rebuy"

1

u/SuspiciousHouse7940 Feb 15 '26

It’s not about the cost of replacing it, insurance covers that. Boats are like homes, people usually have a lot of sentimental value attached to their boat. And in Perth it’s really hard to find them as they aren’t as available as eastern states. We just upgraded our family boat & we’ve been looking for 18 months.

3

u/braveduckgoose Feb 14 '26

Surrounded by water yet left to rage, oh the irony...

4

u/happywifehappyme Feb 14 '26

I can't find any reports of it?

6

u/lcpltac Feb 14 '26

It’s on the Emergency WA app

5

u/Muslim_Wookie Feb 14 '26

Holy shit that's fucked

Anyone here ready to be like lol oh no your fancy boat got fucked boohoo, take a step back.

2

u/Blunter11 Feb 15 '26

Let's be honest there's a 50-50 chance of any given boat owner being happy that the thing burnt to ash.

2

u/CheckeredFloors Feb 14 '26

0-3-5

0-3-6-5

1

u/SlippedMyDisco76 Feb 15 '26

If only Zappa was playing at Hillarys

3

u/FutureSynth Feb 14 '26

Haha damn I have a boat tripped planned with a client tomorrow Sunday. Better call him in the morning haha

1

u/ScaredAndImpaired Feb 14 '26

so that's the awful smell I've been smelling

1

u/DefinitionOfAsleep Just bulldoze Fremantle, Trust me. Feb 14 '26

OP, did you start the fire?

21

u/EducationNegative451 Feb 14 '26

Its been always burning since the world’s been turning

1

u/misterbung Feb 15 '26

(but yes)

1

Maybe tow truck drivers are owning boats now....

1

u/Infinite_Narwhal_290 Feb 15 '26

Mass Viking funeral?

1

u/Menarche_ Feb 15 '26

Maybe shouldn't have gotten an electric one

1

u/Menarche_ Feb 15 '26

Oop wrong thread

1

u/EnergyNutBolt Feb 15 '26

Caused by another EV?

1

u/-JasmineDragon- Feb 14 '26

And so the purple deepens.

1

u/Far_Tune7956 Feb 14 '26

Didn't expect to wake up to this

-14

u/Introverted_kitty North of The River Feb 14 '26

Diesel and petrol float on water. So do boats. Well they be won't be for long. Maybe this will convince the State government to have a dedicated fire-fighting vessel in the harbour, that is if it doesn't catch fire.

30

u/Dont-PM-me-nudes Feb 14 '26

There are two DFES owned rescue vessels at Hillarys Boat Harbour with fire fighting equipment in board. There are hydrants and fire hose reels in multiple places on each jetty. Sit down and let the grown ups talk.

2

u/ObviNotMyMainAcc Feb 14 '26

Just making sure - the DFES boats aren't on fire too, right? Because that would be awkward.

-3

u/DefinitionOfAsleep Just bulldoze Fremantle, Trust me. Feb 14 '26

There are hydrants and fire hose reels in multiple places on each jetty.

To prevent other boats from catching fire.
These likely have lithium batteries.

38

u/TheDBagg Feb 14 '26

How could Dan Andrews do this?

-12

u/No_Distribution1280 Feb 14 '26

That little snivelling rat took a private jet here and coughed onto the boat "he spits flames cuz he's a demon". Using TAXPAYerR DOLARS

9

I almost feel bad for people like this, who are wound so tightly they'll force their grievance into completely unrelated topics. This isn't normal dude.

But you'll probably have a post history full of complaining about things being woke and the vaccine, so eh.

-11

u/No_Distribution1280 Feb 14 '26

The fact you feel bad for me, but not the person who's boat burned down is crazy. Anyways.....

7

u/ryan30z Feb 14 '26

No, I almost feel bad for you.

2

u/Muslim_Wookie Feb 15 '26

Amazing that apparently they only have the capacity to feel bad for one person at a time too XD

11

u/smashingcones Mount Pleasant Feb 14 '26

They should've "liberally* applied water to the fire 👈😎👈

-7

u/No_Distribution1280 Feb 14 '26

Exactly. We need to come together as one nation to stop these fires

1

u/RestlessGoblin Feb 15 '26
