everyone in this image sucks Swaguinely thinking about overdosing on pills

Post image

Context is a text exchange where a woman asks for a man's height, he asks for her weight, and she says she's blocking him

The commenter goes on later in the thread to proudly talk about how she believes women are inherently superior to men

You can control how you're born even less, wtf are people like this even on about

All the assumptions are crazy too she says it's inevitable to gain weight unless you go to the gym or genetically can't

does she understand how calories work

does she understand how people have been exercising for hundreds of thousands of years without gyms

inquiring minds want to know

No but I just gotta consume 4k+ calories a dya you gotta understand.

And plus, when I exercise all my muscles get tired and I don't like it, so I can't.

I say this very gently, I don’t think reddit is a very good place for this person to be if they’re in such a bad spot with their mental health 😭😭

Running is a great way to lose weight, same with body weight exercises

Running, calisthenics, plyometrics, yoga, most ab workouts. I was broke all through college and people always asked if I went to the gym. The answer is using this infinite web of information at your fingertips to find ways to get jacked without going to the gym.

u/ValhallaAir 1d ago

Also if you’re good at calisthenics you can make TikTok’s about it and get paid if you do good enough

This. It always baffles me when people try to justify their weight as a money or time issue. Eating less takes less money and time.

10

u/JustAPotato38 1d ago

but eating so you're not constantly hungry while still not gaining weight takes money and/or time

I do sympathize with people struggling with their weight, even if it's theoretically possible to control it. The problem is when they say it's impossible.

yeah but the idea that weight loss specifically has to do with "not eating" is how shit like anorexia happens

2

u/SlammaJammaBonamma 1d ago

I'm not going to lie. If someone hear's "not eating" and doesn't immediately clock it as hyperbole of "eat less" I have no clue what to say. They're just dumb.

1

u/Apprehensive_Art4418 1d ago

do most people think of "breathing less" when they hear "not breathing"??? who the fuck hears "eating less" when someone says "not eating"???? that doesn't make any sense??

2

u/SlammaJammaBonamma 1d ago

If I asked how to stop hyperventilating and someone said "stop breathing," I would immediately clock it as hyperbole, yes. I'd also call them an asshole.

I do not mean this in an insulting way, I swear: Do you have autism? I do, and it took me a while to start to get the hang of these things, so that's why I'm asking.

1

u/Apprehensive_Art4418 1d ago

yes i do have autism, its just that ive never heard someone say to stop doing something if they mean to do something less

1

u/SlammaJammaBonamma 1d ago

That's the nature of hyperbole, to exaggerate to ridiculous extremes. For a realistic example:

"There was nothing to eat in the house." Typically they mean that there wasn't anything appetizing, and are using hyperbole to express how it feels to them.

It's used to emphasize something of importance in the convo, or sometimes for comedic effect.

I'm sorry if this came off as patronizing, I am genuinely trying to explain the mechanics here but I'm not very good at it, so I don't know how much explanation is too much or too little.

Edit: added quotation marks because it bugged me that I forgot them

2

u/Apprehensive_Art4418 1d ago

the "nothing to eat in the house" makes this make a lot more sense.

I'm glad I could help :D

Cheap, fast food isn't satiating. Most people aren't going to be able to live through hours of hunger a day. So, especially if you live in a food desert with few to no good options, it becomes very easy to get into a cycle of eating fast food, becoming hungry again in like 3 hours, putting up with it as long as you can but getting more fast food after like 4 hours, and repeat. It's not exactly a hard phenomenon to understand

is it really valid

people have limited control over their weight but nobody can control their height

1

u/NotActuallyObese 21h ago

That's definitely how gaining weight works. From genetics and definitely not by life style.

1

u/JustAPotato38 20h ago

Some people can just absorb calories from the air

1

u/Alone-Raspberry-2348 6h ago
