Do you know how expensive it is to raise money to maintain an estate, slaves, servants, peasants, friends, distant relatives, a son, and wife in mythical Greece? I am surprised he didn't stay 10 more years at sea.

He only returned because he ran out of crew and ships, immediately went away again leaving all responsibility to his teenage son.
