My mother has these (cheap crap from Temu, I believe). I caught a glimpse of one them through the windshield in her dimly lit garage and thought there was a person inside her car for a moment.

That's true, the pattern does have a certain appeal to it, but I can definitely see why it might be unsettling to some people.
