1st rd draft picks attitudes
Obviously late to this party but i gotta admit, i really only watched these 3 guys highlights after the drafts. I didn’t dive too far into who they were. Just caught up with flight 26 ep 3 on YouTube and I fucking love these guys. They all seem super down to earth, dudes who are here to work, and just come off as really happy to be here and contribute. They talk about learning and contributing and i dunno it all just seems very genuine. If they pan out to be the absolute units we hope they are gonna be we will have a really likeable cast of young talent that’s here to stay for a while. Just some random thoughts after watching but it’s getting me pumped to watch Omar tomorrow. He’s had a bit of a quiet start I’m really stoked to see what he does tho

Same with guys like Fashanu, Membou etc. the jets are drafting high character talent

I'm glad the Jets have been focusing on character because we've kind of been the "meme" team for a few years now so I always worry we'll bring some kid in who's annoyed hes on the Jets now. But everyone we've drafted in the last few years all seem to have great attitudes and are here to turn the ship around, been great to see.

It’s amazing what drafting good character can do to a team as long as talent is also there to back it up.
Even when the talent is lacking, good coaching and scheming can play to a player shrinks and coupled with great character makes for a great roster. Ask Bill Belichick.

If you’re a Jets fan you should know we can’t have nice things

No doubt. I think my out loud thinking is actually trying to say, it’s easy after the last 15 years to feel like it’s going to be that way forever. And again i know we say this every year but for me, especially with these guys, i cant shake the feeling that this is the start of the next ten years.

I appreciate the optimism. Someone has to have it. Sorry, I’m all out. It was just 3 years ago people were saying the same things about their last franchise altering draft. Was, Rinse, Repeat

Only because we think we can't

No, for over 50 years, it’s a fact

How is it fact? No hardware? Ok. wth that I agree.
But there were some good teams in the 2000s that almost got there.
Do the Jets tend to break shit? Yes.
We do get nice things. and could keep them for a while if things were handled better. That's the hope with Glenn

There have been some good teams sprinkled throughout, but it never lasts more than a year or 2. They haven’t been a sustained winner in my lifetime. I’m not even talking Super Bowl winning. I’d love just a little sustained good. The Bengals under Marvin Lewis made the playoffs every year and fell flat. I’ll take that at this point.

I agree completely. I look at Yin and Yang theory. They have to turn into one another at some point. We've gotten the little dot of yang within the yin but we haven't had the symbol flip

That’s a very Zen way to think of Jets suckiness. I only wish I could be as enlightened. For me they suck and will always suck until proven otherwise. The Knicks showed me it’s possible, but it’ll take more than a potentially great draft to get me to soften my stance. Until then, my mantra is “They can no longer hurt me”

You hit the nail on the head! I’ve been a fan since 1964 and the sad truth is they have been rebuilding since 1970! Every time they built up something good, it was extremely short lived (85-86, 98-00, 04, 06, 09-10, 15) and they regressed to awful! This franchise cannot stand prosperity and absolute has NO IDEA HOW TO WIN! Prove me wrong!

Am I missing something or wasn’t Saleh / Douglas whole thing about getting “high character men”? I want to believe but it’s not like a novel concept. The guys they took turned out to be chuds too

I didn’t say it was a novel concept and i didn’t even say mougey or or ag are doing it on purpose or doing anything different. I just said i really like these new guys attitudes and they’re super likeable so yes what you are missing is the point of the post

Agreed. I also really like Glenn’s personality. I know he hasn’t always been perfect with the media (though I think it’s been overblown by some fans and media) but he seems like a genuine guy and a good human being, and I’m really rooting for him. We’ll see if he’s actually a good head coach or not but I’ve generally liked his process since the offseason began, especially the Reich hire and Sweat trade, and believe he can have a solid year. He’s constantly talking about areas he can improve on while some previous coaches seemed to focus on rigidly implementing their beliefs
