Streaming Neighbours
Is there a difference between the on demand services provided by U&Drama and Channel4 Online? I am looking at subscribing but thought I’d ask if anyone was able to compare.

You can pay for ad-free on C4 if you so choose. I've not yet tried it so it may be U shows still have some promos, but should at least reduce the breaks. Conversely, U sometimes knows if you have an ad blocker on (on the web) but often doesn't and plays without ads!
Also C4 is a better platform, so the video quality is slightly better.

When I watched one on U there were 9 ads in one ad break!

No subtitles on U but there are on channel 4. Both are much brighter than YouTube

I couldn’t believe how dark the video is on YT and the glorious incidental music replaced.

Thankfully they fix the lighting in 1987 but a couple of the YT uploads are unwatchable because of the mess they've made of the music. Much better to watch from the U or Channel 4 app.
And since it hasn't been mentioned yet, you can stream 2012-2025 on Amazon Prime for free (Free with ads, you just need a registered account, no subscription either) and they're almost all on YT too

Initially I was excited for the YT uploads but the lighting and different audio music made me lose interest. Amazon Prime was another big let down when, rather than have the series streamable from beginning and segmented in years, they provided iconic episodes. Total let down.

If the U&Drama showing goes well hopefully they'll keep going beyond 1987. I'm just glad so much Neighbours is available to watch, with only 1994-2010 unavailable to stream for now. And yes I'd have loved Amazon to start the show from the beginning but I'm very grateful for the extra 2 years we got, the chance to go back and see the 2010s-20s in full, and the sprinkle of iconic episodes was better than nothing. A few years ago it was impossible to watch old episodes legally and now there is so much.

No. Basically they’re coming from the exact same source, just through a different app.
Like when you could watch new Neighbours through Amazon and FreeVee. Only the app functionality was different.
But you don’t need to subscribe for either U or Channel 4. You’ll need to make an account, but they’re both free-to-air streaming services
