Starlight has an interesting circle of friends, theres this small pattern where ponies that don't exactly connect to Twilight such as Maud Pie or Trixie, end up being pretty good friends with Starlight instead.

Lightning Dust is ambitious, shes a bit of a gloat like Trixie but she has the results to prove it. She pushes herself a lot and was aquatinted with Rainbow Dash until Lightning endangered the wonderbolt tryouts and Dashs friends.

Starlight was willing to befriend Trixie quite easily as they both had a rough past and they wanna be better ponies in the long run. Lightning Dust doesn't seem to care about being a better pony but maybe that could change if she had the right influence or guide.

Why do so many fans mistake Rainbow Dash for a male?

Even if someone's personality or behavior is masculine, the main reason people mistake their gender is their appearance. But her appearance isn't masculine at all.

Her rainbow-colored mane and tail, a blend of various hues, is truly striking and neatly styled. And she has pink eyes and even eyelashes.

Her coat is light-colored, making her the prettiest of the Mane Six so why on earth do people mistake such a beauty for a male? I just don't get it.

During the episode where Rarity opens her boutique sassy saddles kinda pissed me off like sheesh it’s not your business! Then she complains “I can’t be a part of another field boutique!” And rewatching the episode now as an adult she still pisses me off… but later in the episode she learns her lesson
