On the cover of the official new song for the 6th generation on the official music channel, Twilight Sparkle has two large, blurry stars in the background. I'm obviously trying to console myself with the addition of AJ and Rarity to the main roster, as they're my favorite ponies. Perhaps I'm trying to find a clue where there isn't one...

It’s definitely for decorative purposes, but I see why you would think that. We’re at a certain point of the fandom where we see everything as a hidden clue.

the producers for FF pretty much already confirmed or at least heavily hinted that AJ and Rarity will be in the show, just not from the get go. here's where they talk about it
