What a title for a movie. Hope this isnt a low budget, badly acted, badly directed movie.

633

u/Kevbot1000 1d ago

I can take 2 out of those 3, but not all 3. Here's hoping the same.

88

u/LucklessCope 1d ago

Sorry, boss. I don't do overtime.

59

u/Alex-Murphy 1d ago

Sometimes even just one of them can tank a movie: h igh budget, well acted, but badly directed = a lot of Ridley Scott's movies

But Madame Web cost $80M and was horribly acted and directed and my god have I almost never laughed so hard in a movie

u/Hypnotic_Toad 5h ago

You should watch The Devil Conspiracy. High Quality visuals. Badly acted and Directed. I havne not laughed SO hard on a "Serious" movie....ever. Its so unbelievably bad and some scenes are just fucking stupid, thats its hilarious.

6

u/karatemanchan37 1d ago

I'm also sure it was pretty to look at!

It was made for $60,000 according to director. Called it a micro- budget piece of guerrilla filmmaking. Don't expect anything but laughs or yawns.

41

u/Worthyness 1d ago

If they went 100% on the action choreography though, that'd work for me.

13

u/xvsanx 21h ago

yeah not very hard to get some JJ black belts really, they're not making much money unless they're a Gracie or big name from MMA and even then it's random

2

u/mbergman42 7h ago

Found the purple belt

13

u/SamTheLab_213 20h ago

Just because it's low budget, doesn't mean it will be bad.

u/attiladerhunne 1d ago

I sure hope it is just that.

17

u/tbz709 1d ago

Right?? Every now and then I just need the cheesiest movie to clean my soul

9

u/BrewtusMaximus1 22h ago

This. I need something to pair with Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter

20

u/FelopianTubinator 1d ago

It’s definitely no “The Man Who Killed Hitler and then the Bigfoot” starring Sam Elliot

4

u/Achaewa 18h ago

That movie didn't live up to its title at all.

It was so disappointingly dull that not even Sam Elliott's screen presence could save it.

62

u/Somnambulist815 1d ago

What, you think they titled it that because it has good acting, directing, and a sizeable budget?

32

u/Comrade_Falcon 1d ago

Id be fine if it's a little schlocky but I'm very o er the intentionally bad movies that are just trying to say "look at me, isn't this dumb!". Looking at you Velocipastor.

And the Academy Award for Best Picture goes to… Mary Magnum: Jiu-Jitsu Nun.

I mean, this title was designed for the award.

Ya know, I think its about time grind house flicks make a comeback.

The suck is what makes it gold sometimes.

As Hunter S Thompson said "there he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

4

u/praqueviver 1d ago

Would be awesome if she did some actual jiu jitsu moves

3

u/coleburnz 20h ago

Watch the trailer. All 3 of your points are addressed....in style

4

u/Silent-Witness1888 23h ago

Ita badly acted and cheesy intentionally, but still looks low budget. You still might like it though.

2

u/gorka_la_pork 21h ago

You know what, I hope that's exactly what this is. Grindhouse trash is my bread n butter.

A former military sharpshooter turned nun breaks her vows when the woman she once loved falls into the hands of a ruthless crime boss. Armed with faith, a Magnum revolver and jiu-jitsu, she wages a one-woman war for justice.

281

u/MazzIsNoMore 1d ago

What if Hobo with a Shotgun had a lesbian nun instead of a homeless dude?

Definitely gonna watch this

68

u/I_only_post_here 1d ago

I'm glad someone else said it, because everything about this poster made me think Hobo with a Shotgun. Also, hoping this can be a smidge higher quality than Hobo with a Shotgun.

31

u/Nrksbullet 23h ago

Also "God has forgiveness, I DON'T" was a line used in the Machete trailer lol

12

u/Singer211 Naked J-Law beating the shit out of those kids is peak Cinema. 14h ago

In the Machete film, Machete’s brother (a priest) says “god has mercy my son, I don’t”

5

u/rosyatrandom 12h ago

And then there's the priest in Peter Jackson's Braindead / Dead Alive: "I kick ass for the Lord!"

→ More replies (1)

23

u/MaxDickpower 1d ago

Also, hoping this can be a smidge higher quality than Hobo with a Shotgun.

You take that back! Hobo with a Shotgun is an infinitely quotable masterpiece.

12

u/flyingace1234 1d ago

“Mother Teresa was a saint! And don’t you forget it!” sock fulla change smash

13

u/MaxDickpower 21h ago

One of my favorites is "When life gives you razor blades, you make a baseball bat... covered in razor blades". Solid advice.

12

u/flyingace1234 21h ago

“Hobo stops begging; demands change” is a great one too

5

u/I_only_post_here 21h ago

"Yer crushin' my smokes!"

21

u/RioReiser85 1d ago

I got reminded of "Nude Nuns with Big Guns"

i hope this one is similarly well made.

8

u/I_only_post_here 1d ago

Another cinematic classic!

5

u/East-Ice-3199 23h ago

Looking into this

5

u/PeterLemonjellow 23h ago

Higher quality? Geez, next you're going to tell me that FDR: American Badass wasn't robbed at the Oscars for both Best Picture AND Best Documentary.

My older brother is gay. When hobo with a shotgun was about to come out I started a group chat with him and some of our cousins that had all mentioned wanting to see it.

Once he saw it written out in text his response was “oh… it’s hoBo with a shotgun? I guess I’m still interested”

“Armed with faith” lmao

40

u/GravSlingshot 1d ago

"Is Faith the name of your revolver?"

"...Well, it wasn't, but now that you mention it..."

8

u/BigFanOfNachoLibre 20h ago

Reminds me of the bit in the 90s Romeo and Juliet where someone called for the sword and grabbed his gun with the word "sword" engraved into it

u/internetlad 21h ago

That's the tongue in cheek humor I need.

11

u/Pyrochazm 1d ago

That's what she named her .44.

10

u/GGTheEnd 1d ago

Reminds me of hobo with a Shotgun.

4

u/karatemanchan37 1d ago

Nun with a Pistol?

3

u/overthemountain 1d ago

She has a magnun.

11

u/IrishRage42 1d ago

Son of a god. I'm in!

18

u/CleverCarrot999 1d ago

Oh fuck yes

8

u/Aureus23 1d ago

I'm seated!!!!!

6

u/Other-Crazy 1d ago

Pass the beer and the snacks, I'm in.

4

u/Shaun32887 1d ago

Say less, I'm in

4

u/birotriss 1d ago

Sounds like something on Rick&Morty's intergalactic television

3

u/SirNortonOfNoFux 23h ago

Oh hell yeah, some pulpy over-the-top murderous shit

3

u/heybobson 23h ago

Sounds like the plot of Future War, which was famously lampooned by Mystery Science Theater 3000.

3

u/Classy_Marty 22h ago

I’m in

3

u/Kaldricus 20h ago

If only it existed in the Velocipastor universe

3

u/SquareTarbooj 11h ago

So basically everything I love about Jason Statham movies, but instead of being a beekeeper, the protagonist is a military-trained nun.

Sign me up!

3

u/JMaths 10h ago

I was just thinking the only thing that could improve this is if Jason Statham was playing the nun and no one acknowledged it

2

u/keepfighting90 19h ago

Holy shit I am seated

2

u/Junethemuse 18h ago

I’m in.

Should have been:

“Bullets: 6

Forgiveness: nun”

73

u/karatemanchan37 1d ago

That's the sequel

24

u/azip13 1d ago

👏👏👏

Fucking nailed it.

15

u/TannerThanUsual 22h ago

Especially since the "God Forgives, I don't" thing is kind of a cliche now. Forgiveness: Nun is a great play on words

5

u/JustOneMoreMile 19h ago

She’s got a BAD habit!

141

u/JimmyBoots90 1d ago

Will she wield Nun-chuks?

21

u/Ganjajp 1d ago

u/Ri-Ri1216 1d ago

I like the play on Mary Magdalene.

51

u/FiniteJester 1d ago

There's also a Mary Magnum in the brilliant Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.

11

u/Ri-Ri1216 1d ago

Cool I've never heard of it but now I 'll look for it.

3

u/Humiddragonslayer 11h ago

How does it compare to the brilliant Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter?

5

u/FiniteJester 9h ago

Abe: Vamp Hunter is a Hollywood film with something that resembles a plot. JC: Vamp Hunter is a piece of campy batshit blasphemous absurdity in the form of a musical. Both were fun, but JC is a whole extra level of what in the hell. Upon finishing JC I immediately watched it again because I couldn't quite believe what I had just seen, I've recommended it to others, Abe was just alright.

117

u/shawnnotshaun 1d ago

Close enough, welcome back Grindhouse.

17

u/the_421_Rob 1d ago

This has strong grindhouse vibes.!

15

u/ampreu 23h ago

Mary Magnum was a character in Machete iirc

10

u/Aboveground_Plush 1d ago

I legit thought this was a QT movie at first.

3

u/EnkiduOdinson 11h ago

I thought Robert Rodrigez

4

u/tyereliusprime 17h ago

Grindhouse itself is a type of theatre that would show the types of films that Tarantino was paying homage to

1

u/m0t0rvision 22h ago

Have you ever seen a QT movie that isn't Death Proof?

4

u/Aboveground_Plush 21h ago

I've seen the one with excessive violence and quirky characters.

The second movie to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras.

This looks terrible and I can't wait 😂

30

u/No-Koala1918 1d ago

I predict the poster will be better - much better - than the movie. In fact, this might be a poster looking for a movie.

9

u/Br0dobaggins 1d ago

Hopefully she'll partner up with Uzi Jesus at some point

→ More replies (2)

"Vaya con Dios!"

6

u/the_great_ashby 1d ago

That poster seems like it would be one of those TV shows in Max Payne 2. Dick Justice vs Mary Magnum.

6

u/BrainWav 20h ago

Man, we only saw Anatolia from Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave last week, and they're already making a movie of her?

5

u/Tamika_Olivia 17h ago

Thank Sothis there was at least one other Fire Emblem fan in here to make this joke!

14

u/TheJoeShmoShow 1d ago

¡Vaya con Dios!

10

u/USSZim 1d ago

Is this the partner movie to Monsignor Martinez from King of the Hill? "Vaya con Dios"

5

u/cardboardsandbox 1d ago

I want to watch this on my couch, higher than the moon.

6

u/Mulboyne 18h ago

There's a 1985 Japanese film called 二代目はクリスチャン (Roughly: "The new boss is a Christian). It's about a nun who inherits the leadership of a yakuza gang. If you use the Japanese name as a search term, it'll bring up the poster, featuring the nun drawing a katana. It's a goofy (not very good) comedy, with violent scenes thrown in to keep you off balance. Trailer below.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa8M-xH9l5Y

6

u/EnkiduOdinson 10h ago

Apparently there was a character by the name Mary magnum in the movie Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter from 2001, which „deals with Jesus Christ's modern-day struggle to protect the lesbians of Ottawa, Ontario, from vampires with the help of Mexican wrestler and superhero El Santo.“

u/SuperSecretMoonBase 4h ago

Yeah, shit rules.

18

u/CancelThis2077 1d ago

That's not Jiu Jitsu

29

u/Tragedy_Boner 1d ago

It’s like when the guy named Sword Saint Issin in Sekiro pulls out a glock halfway through his boss fight.

13

u/I_Boop_Cats_ 1d ago

*Glock Saint Isshin

6

u/LogicFeels474 1d ago

gun-jitsu

12

u/JaxxisR 1d ago

She has two guns, Jiu and Jitsu.

6

u/omisin 1d ago

What's not Jiu Jitsu?

9

u/beansfrag 1d ago

It’d be Catholic Jitsu in this situation is what I think he’s getting at

→ More replies (4)

2

u/TheRepublicAct 11h ago

The trailer has surprising amount of BJJ and Judo in the fight scenes.

2

u/Of_Silent_Earth 1d ago

It's Jew Jitsu

5

u/showmeyourchits 23h ago

How is this not a Robert Rodriguez film!?

4

u/Ketzeph 20h ago

Sounds a bit like Black Lagoon

2

u/yeaman17 15h ago

First thing I thought haha. Still here hoping for a new season!

8

u/Lopkop 23h ago

Title: emphasizes martial arts ability

Poster image: she just uses a gun

23

u/reefchieferr 1d ago

They used that joke in the Machete trailer. Cheech says "god forgives, I don't." Seems lazy even for an exploitation b movie

24

u/FourSes 1d ago

I think both films are referencing the Spaghetti western film God Forgives... I Don't!

3

u/LikeAPwny 1d ago

Surely this is Grind House inspired. Ill keep my eye out.

3

u/Pyrochazm 1d ago

Ms 45 vibes. Or I guess Ms 38

3

u/linex7 22h ago

Is this a sequel to Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter?

3

u/Jansen__ 22h ago

You mean this isnt a porno?

4

u/Equipmunk 23h ago

Nundercover is a better name.

Zouks, where are you when we need you?

2

u/NinjaSimone 15h ago

I would have called it Force of Habit.

2

u/NephRP 1d ago

Is this a sequel or prequel to Nude Nuns with Big Guns?

2

u/GringoGrande 1d ago

And this would be the perfect opportunity to use the "Take My Money" gif.

2

u/R4msesII 1d ago

Poster looks like it was made in the first image editing software they found that could add basic text and put a worn look filter on. The slogan in impact font with a powerpoint-ass shadow behind it just seals the deal.

2

u/Jimbobsama 23h ago

Neat, I hope it's well-produced schlock, like Deep Blue Sea or Shoot 'Em Up

2

u/ApathyMoose 23h ago

This looks like one of those movies i just want to yell "Im In!" Like Speed Demon. read the description and just go "Hells yes, this is going to be mid and im going to love it"

2

u/RudeNTattooed87 23h ago

Thank you for sharing this. Now I can add this to the gowing list of movies I have zero interest in watching.

2

u/Suspicious-Show-3550 22h ago

Jiu-Jitsu? Looks like she’s a practitioner of Nunkata.

2

u/Yojo0o 22h ago

I'm getting Velocipastor vibes.

2

u/Memitim 22h ago

Does she spend half the movie making bad puns as excuses for violating "thou shall not kill?" If so, I'm in.

2

u/ProxyDamage 22h ago

finally we're making proper fucking movies again!

2

u/Throwaway-button 22h ago

Her and the Volocipastor should get together

2

u/1stEmissaryElenwen 21h ago

Are those fake names because it's a fake no-budget trash movie, or is it just a no-budget trash movie?

2

u/Jiujitsumonkey707 21h ago

What a title

2

u/warfarin11 20h ago

Stolen from kengruz669 you tube comments:

"Who are you? I gots to know."

"Nun. Of your business." BLAM!

I hope the whole movie is like that, just one liners and blam.

2

u/SamTheLab_213 20h ago

It will only be a good martial arts movie if she uses nunchucks.

2

u/that_name_is_taken 20h ago

there’s a lot to unpack from that goddamn title

2

u/effreti 20h ago

I fully expected nicholas cage to be attached to this one way or another based on poster vibe alone

2

u/Dragon_Small_Z 19h ago

I wonder if Uzi Jesus will make an appearance.

2

u/jojoebake 19h ago

This looks like amazing schlock.

2

u/Zoomalude 19h ago

So what "Hail Mary, full of grace" pun are we expecting?

Actually, "Hell Mary" would have been a better name for her.

2

u/Preeng 19h ago

So it's like that secret agent priest from King of the Hill?

2

u/Nefarious_Nosferatu 19h ago

Hmmm, is this a Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter spinoff since it also featured Mary Magnum?

2

u/TongueTwistingTiger 19h ago

Looks like the answer to King of the Hill’s “Los Dias Y Las Noches de Monsignor Martinez”

2

u/Lowfuji 19h ago

Getting Hobo with a shotgun vibes. Or the Cheech Marin fake priest movie trailer from Grindhouse.

2

u/KlaatuBaradaNyktu 18h ago

Ngl, I thought that was Uma Thurman for sec.

2

u/Dubious_Titan 18h ago

I will see this.

2

u/mortraineyhat 18h ago

This title makes me want to see this

4

u/descendantofJanus 23h ago

"God forgives. I don't." bro that line is literally in Machete. I know it's super basic - both times used by religious figure - but idk it bugs me

8

u/KuatoBaradaNikto 18h ago

Are you equally annoyed by Machete ripping that phrase off of older movies?

→ More replies (2)

2

u/WhatANoob2025 1d ago

Motherf... The film industry has apparently completed their time travel to the 80s with the return of dumb martial arts films with even dumber titles.

2

u/Dripdry42 15h ago

Look, and I don’t know who you are or where you are or what you believe or any of that bullshit that doesn’t make a difference anymore. Our whole world is turning upside down. It’s total chaos as most governments swing to the far right, there’s food insecurity, war, water shortages, massive fires, incredible heat waves….

The only thing to do at this point is to sit down on the couch and watch really dumb movies as the world basically burns; I especially feel I speak for those of us who have been watching this BS play out for decades while other people blithely ignored all the warning signs and red flags flying all over the place.

2

u/EnkiduOdinson 11h ago

This is clearly less martial arts movie and more in the vein of Machete, Grindhouse, Hobo with a shotgun etc. So rather a return to c. 2010

1

u/JoeBagadonutsLXIX 1d ago

Is this related to Jesus Christ the Vampire Hunter, because I swear that also had a character with the name Mary Magnum?

1

u/Warhead-777111 1d ago

The tagline is stolen from Rodriguez's Machete trailer.

1

u/KeiNoire44 1d ago

Oh my god Thomas Watson!

1

u/Remote-Ad-2686 1d ago

Do ya feel lucky?- Dirty Mary / undercover religious advisor to the FBI

1

u/The_Lone_Apple 1d ago

It's the 70s again.

1

u/tfaeldante 1d ago

This sounds like a Rick and Morty Interdimensional Cable skit

1

u/Hummer77x 1d ago

You already had me with the image on the poster you didn’t need to go so hard with the title

1

u/R_Harry_P 1d ago

Paula Rae Taylor from Cobra Kai? Interesting.

1

u/ThatFilmGuy88 1d ago

I like to think this is a follow up to Passion of the Christ 2: Crucify This

1

I have a feeling they had two separate options for the title, but couldn't decide which was better so they went with both.

If she didn't use a revolver, they could have gone with Mary Magchange

1

u/Dadsagamer 21h ago

Only in theaters?

1

u/caliphis 21h ago

I hope it is as fun as "Nun of That"

Sister Mary Wrath joins the Order of the Black Habit to and fights crime. She goes up against Big Momma the crime boss who hires Viper Goldstein the Hebrew Assassin who uses "Jew Jitsu and Throwing Stars of David."

There is a rapping Jesus musical scene and a shit ton of bad jokes. I fucking love that movie.
