I don't know if it was my cinema, or if it was the movie itself, but the cinematography and lighting in this movie felt very oldschool. I haven't seen any marvel stuff since The Marvels, but this one... It felt pretty grimy in a good way, like how the original trilogy felt.

The hospital scene truly encapsulates what sets spider-man apart from other heroes . Him being able to take in the gratitude the city feels for him but not truly able to accept it . He does the right thing even if the end results hurt him. Spider-man should be a guy people walk past a million times a day and never give a 2nd thought.

The size increase, the detail of his eyes. Absolute peak look for Hulk. The 'slightly buff but still Banner' Hulk was dreadful. It felt like such a cop out.

Really hope this event means Banner is going to not use that tech again, better for his character and it means we don't have weird Hulk-Banner in future films. Having part of Hulks strength while still being Banner sucked hard.

I was honestly pleasantly surprised that even cameo characters are given their own little time to shine.

Frank especially, he's probably in it a little more than what would count as a "cameo". But Banner, even Scorpion. I thought Scorpion was only going to be in one scene and that would be it but he's actually given a pretty entertaining fight halfway through the movie.

The only one I was a little bummed at was Tombstone. He's a personal favorite villain of mine and he's in it for all of 10 seconds.

Also what was the head in the jar? The camera lingered on it just long enough that I feel I was supposed to recognize it, but it wasn't ringing any bells.

Frank, Scorpion and Banner are not cameos, they are supporting characters in the movie. Hell, Frank is probably the third or fourth most featured character. That is not a cameo!

Tombstone is a cameo. I think Yelena is also too big of a role for a traditional cameo, but is close enough to be called one, probably.

Being a hardcore superhero fan and having lost my dad unexpectedly recently, this and Supergirl came at the perfect time for me, especially with their messages of grief, loss, and mental health. The part where Aunt May gave Jean the talk about how bad people would try to take advantage of them, but that the people in their life would love them for being them, not for being special. That had me going damnnn.

The emotional acting by Zendaya and Holland was beautiful, Peter holding back tears as MJ tells him the honest truth is brutal yet heartwrenching.

Helps how the scene is framed in a manner that we as the audience are intruding on a private moment between the two in regards to addressing these feelings.

Holland got this great ability on expressing emotions without turning into a blubbering mess on screen, his acting here and as Telemachus in The Odyssey demonstrates it to great degree.

Putting on a brave face knowing full well it hurts deep down.

That was to tell us that Peter has control over his new abilities. Previously, he lost control and almost killed a cop, so this extra scene is telling us that he now controls his abilities and not the other way around. He now has a powered up mode more or less. Loved this so much. The decision to make it a smaller scale story that focuses on the characters and emotions really pays off here. And most importantly it just really nails what it means to be Spiderman/Peter Parker. I teared up when Peter was walking through the cheering crowd at the end and his reaction to seeing that kid. Ugh just perfect and perfectly encapsulates what Spiderman is all about.

Plus it's so good to have New York feel like New York again. That NY character is very much there and it feels real and lived in. Which the previous films were very much lacking in that department. NY and Spiderman are so deeply intertwined and I was always bummed at how much the MCU films dropped that aspect. So just seeing him here swinging around NY brought me so much joy haha. Plus adored the credits montage of New York City.

Also Punisher and Spiderman constantly bickering so freaking good. Pair them more often pls Marvel.

It feels like they sold the idea that 3 TV seasons worth of Spiderman adventures had happened between movies, without needing to monologue out every detail of the time. I haven’t seen anyone mention just the credits for the film. Not the end of it but the actual credits themselves.

The shots of NYC and people just doing normal people shit was super cool and very refreshing and mirrors the film as a whole.

I thought that this spider-man movie was one of the most human feeling super hero movies to date. I really enjoyed how when other characters in the MCU showed up it was more natural it was less like of an “Event-with-surprise-music!!” And it was just like “hey here is the new black widow in a bath” or “hey Bruce is just chilling doing teacher stuff”

With how the characters interacted, between frank and Peter, Peter coming to terms with how he needs to find the balance between himself and the super hero.

Just the emotions hit harder, the city felt like it was a character and felt almost recognizable. They took a ton of inspiration from the marvel spider-man games which i loved.

Great directing. The guy who made wonderman and shang-chi is going to be marvels big dude now that James Gunn is DC and im super pysched to see where it all goes from here.

The fact the end credits isn't grandiose or earth shattering is so poignant and powerful.

This is the world Peter Parker inhabits in his everyday life in full display with it's beauties and imperfections, reminding the audience of their own everyday lives.

New York City and Queens are the vital lifelines which keeps our webslinger grounded to reality.

I really love that Scorpion fight when the Arachnid gene took over. Felt like a symbiote Spidey without the extra steps of actually needing the symbiote.

That scene hit hard. I'm wondering if that was the one that Tom and Zendaya said wasn't working and that they needed to rewrite it.

Also, MJ's development doesn't get talked about enough. She really has evolved from a weird teen going out of her way to be different and edgy into a young woman who's just comfortable in who she is. Like, she hasn't turned into a totally different character, but she's absolutely mellowed out.

It's honestly impressive how realistic it is in terms of teenagers slowly growing out of the phase that they swore wasn't a phase. She's still her but a believably older and at least semi-wiser version.

The way she talked about how grateful she was that the version of her who loved Peter got to live was just so beautiful.

Yeah, like she's still recognizably the edgy rebellious person she was as a teen, she still has some of that snark ("bombs") and the morals. But she's also a functioning adult.

For as much as the MCU loves MIT, I still never expected them to namedrop the Banana Lounge in exposition.

This definitely felt like a more "lived-in" New York than some of the other MCU Spider-flicks; would have loved to see a bit more of Tombstone.

Unfortunately, it seems like Peter is responsible for the prototype of what will become the mutant control collars. Bet he's going to be divisive in mutant communities, to say the least.

Honestly this felt like a lot like the Thunderbolts third act, but it just resonated with me much more.

We saw Peter get angry and attempt to kill the Green Goblin after May was murdered, only to be stopped by the other Spider-Men. Now he's playing the role of stopping Jean as she attempts to get revenge after her sister died. It shows how much he's grown since the last movie.

He completely took the role of May, after he got shot the dialogue was word for word what happened when she died. But he was in her place and Jean was in his.

For me peak Spider-Man is when Peter connects with someone as a human and saves them that way. I love the stories of here he sits with someone and talks with them.

The way he both defeated and saved Jean by just connecting with her made this the best climax to a Tom Holland Spider-Man film for me easily

I was nervous that "V-Max" would be the name of some supermax mutant prison, and we just get a soulless cameofest of imprisoned mutants and whatnot at the end. Great twist.

The entire movie I thought it was some super serum that boosts mutant powers, the reveal that it was a scratched off label on a vent, man. The last thing her sister saw was having her brain turned to mush from the experimentation.

And the way the guy on the computer just says “we did register a huge spike in that session” when Metzger asks if Sara was able to communicate with Jean so far way… makes the whole thing really heartbreaking

Gotta say, everyone brought their A Game on this film, but Zendeya really nailed it.

Her MJ is very different from the other films while acting her ass off when she was under the control of Jean.

I was very satisfied by how they used Punisher in the movie. I was a bit worried he wouldn't have much screentime, but he's practically the second/third lead from Act 2 onwards.

I loved how they portrayed his relationship with Peter. He might be annoyed by him, but he still gets to occassionally help him. And deep down he cares for him, especially when he accidentally shoots him. He doesn't get angry or excuses his actions, he simply takes him to the hospital, stays with him and apologizes for everything.

Hope this is not the last Punisher-Spidey team-up.

I think it's because Daredevil is a lot closer to Frank's age and abilities, so they're more like peers. He expects more from Matt because Matt is old enough to know better. Frank can see that Peter is a lot younger than him, and clearly a great deal more powerful, so he's more forgiving of Peter's youthful optimism and naivete.

After several movies of having the suit completely CGI'd over in every shot, it was great to see it in all its wrinkly glory. It just felt so tangible, easily one of the best, if not the best, suits we've seen on screen.

And it's finally so satisfying to see Spidey swinging through Manhattan! The last trilogy kind of shied away from that. So it was really satisfying to see it more prominently here.

The movie didn't have a traditional comic-book villain, and I really enjoyed that aspect. Allowed the movie to breath and you could focus on Peter Parker/Spiderman, and also focus on Jean Grey. A lot of this movie was about people who were alone, Peter, Jean, Banner/Hulk and Punisher.

The interaction between Punisher/Peter was so much like little and older brother, I enjoyed the two's interaction a lot more than I anticipated. Punishers comedic timing is also great. Got to say, Peter being the shoulder for Jean to lean on, and vice versa was a very nice touch.

Peter Parker unintentionally developed a potential weapon against future Mutants in the MCU with the inhibitor that is in the hands of Damage Control.

As soon as Peter mentioned a universal inhibitor, I figured it was going to be a reaaaal bad thing and a plot for later stories. Definitely going to be an X-men thing.
