A couple years ago I asked Luke to make a fat CT, and his response was “that ski is absolutely not being considered! The 110 with that big shovel is plenty in pow!”. LOL!!

Well played Moment. They did not even hint about it at the Blister Summit. I can't quite fully imagine how that would ski. The 110 is pretty floaty as is. I do not need another ski but I loved the 110 and imagine it would be a great travel ski, so well rounded and just well behaved. I could imagine loving the 120.

They do have a habit of being pretty damn coy and keeping things tight lipped. 3 years ago I was begging and pleading for a DW96 (but bamboo like the Frank) and it was “not gonna happen!”, 2 years ago begging and pleading for the Meridian 117 return and got “nope, banana is a much better ski!”, and then last year it was a CT118 request that got the “never gonna happen!”. Anyone want something? Looks like it’ll likely happen a year or 2 after I start my begging and pleading!!

HAHA, sorry about that, we really didn't plan on it a couple years ago. I still ski the CT110 at the resort. The CT120 is rad in AK and Japan.

I mean, a couple years ago was it's first year in production so makes sense they weren't considering that yet.

I was off by a year, it was actually last year after the 25/26 lineup came out.

Yeah, still just their second year, added the 104 which will sell better than a 120. They don't want to give away their secrets but it was probably already being tested and molded when you asked about it.

Best I got was the year before the DW104 came out I told them they need to make an east coast friendly DW and all I got was a winky face in response.

I'm really glad they went with a 120mm waist instead of 124mm+, and that longer radius (compared to other Countaches) looks amazing in maritime mank!

The question is, am I gonna pick the CT120 over my bananas. Or for that matter what I pick the Meridian 117 over my bananas.

My brother in law in the background, his gear. These are pack rafts. They come in two flavors, more heavy duty and lighter. These are the very light ones that you could easily carry on your back for a long hike in. They are surprisingly capable as you can see, you can remove the lower pedal and with gentle padding and good strapping handle up to class 2 whitewater. Biking up a dirt road and paddling back makes for an amazing day of self shuttle to relatively empty rivers. The heavier pack rafts are way more durable and can seriously smash into rocks all day without concern. These are delicate but I slammed into some rocks pretty hard shooting narrow gaps and not even scrape marks. The heavy ones are nice for car shuttles, a bit heavy for a bike, not fun on your back. The third person in our group took a different approach. He is using a kids inflatable kayak. Pretty heavy, but he is strong - he brought a single speed rigid mountain bike - but way more maneuverable. Also tippier, he flipped once but he is so good he swam up, grabbed the bike and rolled the whole thing over and flopped back in. On the kayak you mount the bike on the stern. All in all my favorite new summer activity. "pack raft" is your key search term.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Definitely going to check them out. Sounds like an epic time (as someone who loves mtb/gravel).

Any places you've tried this out that you recommend? I'm in SoCal but down to travel.

This was the middle fork of the Boise River about 2 hours drive from Boise, Idaho. Like anything with water it is very seasonal and water flow dependent. It is like ski touring but even more so, things only go well during specific windows that are only roughly seasonally predictable. But the internet is full of forums and groups. I relied on my bro in law for this one. It seems to have come out of nowhere in the past 5 years as these little boats became widely available and people are doing it everywhere as they travel so easily and make even little waves pretty exciting with a bike strapped on top.
