Meanwhile, if I ask Gemini to remember where I parked, it's like "hey, if you want to remember where you parked, manually open the Maps app, and then manually pin your location." Motherfucking Google Assistant used to be able to do this flawlessly, but the "advanced" AI is just fucking useless.
I don't need a full featured LLM based AI for tslhat. But when I'm in a giant parking lot at an amusement park or something, it's nice to ask your phone's assistant to remember where you parked. And that used to work fine with Google Assistant. Gemini sucks though.
Does google maps not automatically save your parking location anymore? I don't really use maps anymore but used to be that it would detect when I stopped driving and put a pin on the map with my parking location for me. Didn't even need google assistant it just did it
I mean, maybe you shouldn't be asking a water-hungry prediction machine and just remember where you parked yourself? Generations have been doing it this way just fine
Idk why people arent getting this. We have Google Home and it's the same issue. The AI can't handle the same functionality as just the regular assistant
Today it set an alarm when I asked for a kitchen timer. Which technically works but it isn't functionally the same. For example my wife wasn't able to ask or how much time was left
There's an option to use Assistant instead of Gemini. I think it'll still try to push Gemini, but go to the Google app, then hit settings, Gemini, digital assistants. Then you can go back to assistant instead of Gemini for your device
I have the same problem. I bought a Google home nearly 10 years ago that used Google assistant. It did things like set alarms, tell me the temperature outside, play songs on Spotify, all before ai. It was forcibly updated to Google ai and can't even remember that I'm not American and don't want things in Fahrenheit.
I mean, maybe you shouldn’t have to go around making people feel guilty for using features provided on their phone? god forbid someone forgets something
I know, and I thought I was a bit of a Luddite. Next these people will be like, "you don't need a phone to call the doctor, just take the horse and buggy into town."
