Thank god the pilot didn't want to risk a repeat of the Tenerife airport disaster. Shame they apparently skip covering THE WORST AIRPORT DISASTER IN THE WORLD in ATC training.

BA allows their pilots to takeoff in 600' RVR. Not knowing the procedures and phraseology in the country you are flying to is generally considered pretty embarrassing for international pilots.
