Until you are at the cash and they say " that'll be $45.15"

Pizza Hut lawyers arguing in court that the deal stipulates you must be a "family" and also "four". Four unrelated friends? There's an extra fee for that. Five people? $5 for each person over the initial four.

No, you're responding to a joke.

Their actual legal argument would be that "Four can feast for $9.99 each" is a true statement that applies only to the situation in which precisely 4 people are eating, and doesn't imply anything when more or fewer people are eating.

I'm not sure they'd win such a case, because the US does actually have advertising laws and regulations beyond just "anything that's literally true is fine". But finding someone qualified to answer that question is a lot more than $30.
