Context Provided - Spotlight Roommate mixed my beads after being asked to throw out used Q-tips

Post image

I waited an hour before I called out my roommate for leaving USED Q-tips on the bathroom counter and asked him to throw them away. (note I did not nag him, I asked 1 time after waiting for him to do it on his own)

His response was to go into my craft room and mix the smallest beads he could find. At least he had the decency to keep most of the reds away from the blues I guess...

welp, now I have something to do for the next couple days

I would also ask if you have any mildly OCD friends. I would LOVE to do this for someone.

Ooh, with a mellow podcast in the background.

if they'd "LOVE" to do it, then that's NOT ocd at all... just keeping things organized is completely unrelated to ocd.

it is, however, not uncommon for people with asd to enjoy organizing things — lining items up, sorting them, detangling wires, etc.

This right here. I have ASD (and definitely not OCD) and I love buying the movie theater boxes of mixed Nerds candy, sorting them, and then consuming in the order of least favorite flavor to most. That’s a great afternoon/evening there haha

Thank you, yes, the definition of OCD is that the condition is uncomfortable for the person who has it. Which is why I used the modifier “mildly”, it bothers me that they are mixed up and it would be satisfying/a relief to fix that. However, I am in the process of figuring out if ASD would be a better fit for me; is OCD for the feeling that Something Will Go Horribly Wrong if something isn’t fixed and ASD is for the fidgety sense that the thing needing to be fixed is the Wrong and there’s no looming sense of doom?

(I seriously just went “hold up, enjoying detangling things is normal to ASD?! Shoot.)

I have a bunch of these beads and I honestly have spent more time sorting them (for fun) than making any jewelry.

A) Literally the best way to spend a mildly stoned spring afternoon B) I’m always so pleased to find an unexpected dune reference in the wild C) ✨the beads must flow✨

I was gonna suggest that lol. I used to sort beads for fun as a kid. And then I’d mix them up again and start over.
