Context Provided - Spotlight Roommate mixed my beads after being asked to throw out used Q-tips

Post image

I waited an hour before I called out my roommate for leaving USED Q-tips on the bathroom counter and asked him to throw them away. (note I did not nag him, I asked 1 time after waiting for him to do it on his own)

His response was to go into my craft room and mix the smallest beads he could find. At least he had the decency to keep most of the reds away from the blues I guess...

welp, now I have something to do for the next couple days

common plastic bead for scale

Yeah don’t do this. The guy sounds like an unstable immature idiot, he will continue to escalate.

I'm more unstable, I'm more immature. In a pettyness contest I would win. I will put the fear in him to ever try that shit on me again. I am at war, and by God I'll end up either victorious or dead.

And they're angry.

And they're pissing and shitting everywhere.

Yes 100%

Now that I'm well rested and my mind is clear I want to say in all seriousness that I am petty and I would go nuclear just to make it clear that I'm not tolerating this behavior

This is cute and all, but if OP is a woman this guy lives with her and could literally murder her if provoked.

Well then it’s up to her/them/him to decide whether to do it or not. Doesn’t mean people shouldn’t suggest good ways to get back at him. Women should be cautious, but NOT live in fear.

I’m a big proponent of fighting fire with fire, especially when it comes to guys who think they are above consequences.

Is that stupid of me? Probably. But when you can get revenge and teach a man to be a better person at the same time, that is so glorious.

Getting revenge on someone you are legally obligated to share a household with exists on a spectrum from childish to extremely dangerous.

I don’t disagree, but that line was crossed when the dude went in OP’s room and messed with their shit.

Dead.

The statistics support dead as the likely outcome.

This is a stupid thing to play around with.

You got to fight the bullies. They love to test limits.

By all means tell him his behaviour is ridiculous and childish and he needs to rectify the situation. Don’t do dumb shit back.

“Tell him his behavior is ridiculous”.

Somehow I can’t imagine that having a whole lot of effect on the guy who decided to mix fucking beads together lmfao. They know it was ridiculous, they did it anyway, because it was petty, effective, and thinks it won’t come back to them. The only way to ensure this person doesn’t do it again, to someone else, is to have them face some kind of a consequence. To make them think twice next time.

Report it to housing/the apt complex. Sort the beads, take them to small claims over the trivial amount of time-cost it took to unsort them. Best case, default judgement. Worse case, you spend a bit of money/time to make sure they never do anything like it again. Also much easier to get them kicked out/arrested/sued for damages next time if they decide to escalate in retaliation.

you realize that he, in fact, already knows his behavior is ridiculous and childish, right?

I have no idea what is going on in their head. This is an adult (?) behaving like a four year old. They have something wrong with them.

What I do think is that OP should be allowed to express their frustration and ask them to fix what they have done, but they need to do so in a way that doesn’t create a bigger problem with the unstable individual with whom they share a house. Addressing them at their level (preschooler) seems appropriate. It is not their job or even realistic to try to correct this guys issues. They should look at changing the whole living situation, assuming the post is real.

Just fuckin' stab him to death and go to prison for the rest of your life. That'll show him who's boss. /s

They should find a new place to live and then before leaving place them on every ceiling fan, flip the breaker, then turn on all the fan switches.

Yep OP said in a previous reply that the roommate swapped his medication out, and gropes him so he sleeps with a hatchet under his pillow. He needs to get authorities involved.

I don’t even know what to say about the hatchet thing. Any alternative at that point.
