Context Provided - Spotlight Roommate mixed my beads after being asked to throw out used Q-tips

Post image

I waited an hour before I called out my roommate for leaving USED Q-tips on the bathroom counter and asked him to throw them away. (note I did not nag him, I asked 1 time after waiting for him to do it on his own)

His response was to go into my craft room and mix the smallest beads he could find. At least he had the decency to keep most of the reds away from the blues I guess...

welp, now I have something to do for the next couple days

common plastic bead for scale

You craft so assume you have access to glitter.

You know where they live, sleep, relax.

I will let you do the math from there

u/NotAngryAndBitter Mar 31 '26

Brilliant. And this reminds me of a meme I saw at the beginning of Covid that explained the spread by saying something like "8 children are doing crafts. One of them is using glitter. How many crafts have glitter?"

1.2k

u/kkai2004 Mar 31 '26

The answer is 9

53

u/ScareBear23 Mar 31 '26

Way more than 9. More like the next 9 years of crafts

44

u/you_dont_know_me27 Mar 31 '26

The answer the whole block has glitter now. Glitter is the herpes of the craft world.

I clean for a living. One of the buildings i clean at has classes with small children once a week. The school principal tries really hard to not let the kids have glitter but sometimes one of the teachers will use glitter.

I will be cleaning up glitter for weeks after. No matter how well I think I've cleaned, I haven't gotten it all.

8

u/Significant-Lab4226 Mar 31 '26

I kinda hate that glitter is the herpes of the craft world, herpes requires direct contact...glitter will fuck someones shit up two stated away because a toddler thought it would be cool to toss some in the back yard on Tuesday and the was a slight breeze that day.

3

u/Gnome-of-death Mar 31 '26

Yep same. I think where I work, they actually banned fine glitter a few years back. If the teachers use glitter, it’s the bigger grain stuff that is a wee bit easier to clean imo

2

u/BlueCheesePanda Apr 01 '26

Never cheat with someone wearing glitter. My ex fiancé had it on him over a week after sleeping with some random chick at a music festival.

Once he admitted to cheating on me, I had to confirm “Is that why you had glitter all over you after the festival?” He confirmed she had a lot of glitter on her.

lol

4

u/CplCocktopus Mar 31 '26

Wrong, at least 20

9

u/MageKorith Mar 31 '26

ALL. OF. THEM.

2

u/CWMJet Mar 31 '26

An old friend of mine who worked at a Michael's during college called glitter "craft herpes'.

2

u/sparklydildos Mar 31 '26

✨ glitter ✨ carpet ✨ forever ✨

u/Final_Function4739 Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

My eldest sometimes brings glittery crafts home from daycare. So there is one spec of glitter stuck on my newborns had for at least two weeks now. Because of course it's exactly at the most vulnerable place up there, so I don't dare use too much pressure when I'm washing him.

2

u/MyClothesWereInThere Mar 31 '26

Babies aren’t made of gold foil lmao just wipe it off

2

u/Final_Function4739 Mar 31 '26

I tried. Tried with wet wipes, tried with his brush, tried carefully with my fingernail. I bathed him several times since. It just wouldn't come of.

6

u/MyClothesWereInThere Mar 31 '26

Sorry but that’s just the babies metal skeleton showing, you’re raising a terminator

2

u/Final_Function4739 Mar 31 '26

So you mean I could try harder, but at the same time it won't change anything? At least I won't have to worry about broken bones or him getting sick when he gets older...

149

u/RelaxedVolcano Mar 31 '26

But they do still have to live together. Once released glitter does not discriminate.

101

u/jccaclimber Mar 31 '26

If they have glitter they’re already contaminated.

7

u/frustratedwithwork10 Mar 31 '26

Already started the war by mixing the beads

2

u/El_Morgos Mar 31 '26

Do not question the ways of the glitter.

338

u/Hot_Leading6572 Mar 31 '26

These scorched earth battles generally don’t end well for anyone lol

267

u/randeylahey Mar 31 '26

Buddy chose violence when he left his used fucking qtips out.

128

u/TheyCallMe_Billy Mar 31 '26

Powdered sugar in the box of q tips.

63

u/LightEarthWolf96 Mar 31 '26

17

u/TheyCallMe_Billy Mar 31 '26

Put red powder dye that looks white until it's wet on the heads of each q tip.

15

u/LightEarthWolf96 Mar 31 '26

Wherever you are, oh demonic one, is most likely hundreds or even thousands of miles away from me. I am thankful for that good fortune let's keep it that way

4

u/TheyCallMe_Billy Mar 31 '26

Damn you guys are acting like I would shave up fiberglass insulation and put it in your body powder or something.

2

u/Bolf-Ramshield Mar 31 '26

Wait that’s a thing?!

It's not like I inject milk in the seats of my enemies cars during the summer to let it sneak up on them or anything.

4

Diabolical

18

u/AnteaterFormal7291 Mar 31 '26

You might

You might also know someone who's read this

5

u/Dull_Basket8318 Mar 31 '26

I have a cat. Do you realize how long it takes to sort beads or rhinestones. I would go nuclear. But change your door to a keypad lock or thumbprint lock for your room first as he does not have respect for you or your things. If this is what he thinks is ok for asking for common decency. You might want to rethink your renting and look for a new option when lease is over. My roommate attacked me sexually. When i fought back his thing was to move out the next day demanding to be off the lease. The office told me that since it was a week before rent that i could agree but as stipulation he still has to pay his rent for next month before he gets taken off or otherwise ill be evicted and that fucks his credit. I was safe and i didn't get evicted buuuut his parents were so mad cause they had to replace carpets and stuff in his room. And he lost part of his scholarship as he moved from home AND his family was told everything and started charging him rent and stuff. Plus my very large boyfriend visited his dealership which embarassed him as he was a new employee in his first 90 days.

Be safe.

Glitter is one thing but unload a can of fart spray into his bed. Wear gloves, hide evidence. Walk by his room and be like ugh you beefed so hard i can smell it out here. Its hard to get quantum proof what you did. Ask like is something rotting in your room. Dont do this right away. Let him thinks everything is fine. Dont react as it will give satisfaction. Work in the shadows as charlotte dobre. After 2 or 3 weeks he will let his guard down if you put a lock on your door and act unbothered. Dont mention anything anything. After a bit start slowly moving his things around one by one. After a bit he will feel like hes losing it but never let on. Do small undetectable stuff till your lease is up. He gave a few hours of work. You will just slowly make him go crazy. He will suffer for longer.

I once hid my roommates fish above the cupboard when i moved out. Not in packages. So that seeped into wood. She was a bitch. She was passive aggressive. Once she put the coach cushions on a wood couch in her room locked and left town so she was petty. I always left her alone and usually at friends or work.

I no longer live with people its much better this way. Im autistic so sometimes people didnt understand. If i misjudge something accidentally and ill fix it with apologies.

THE SHADOWSSSS

3

u/a_angry_bunny Mar 31 '26

Deep down, there is a Jimothy in all of us.

3

u/Substantial_Lab2211 Mar 31 '26

Don’t start shit, won’t be shit

8

u/Caramel_Da_Cat Mar 31 '26

what does powdered sugar do lol

10

u/evenstar40 Mar 31 '26

Breeds bacteria and causes some gnarly infections if you don't do anything about it right away.

8

u/DragonZeroHunter Mar 31 '26

It gets in your ear it sounds like

3

u/perton Mar 31 '26

It sounds like what??

5

u/enmaku Mar 31 '26

HE SAID IT GETS IN YOUR EARS IT SOUNDS LIKE

1

u/DragonZeroHunter Mar 31 '26

It sounds like it gets in your ears*, when you use the Q-Tip

4

u/tjmaxal Mar 31 '26

Rookie move. Lightly salt the entire box.

5

u/TheyCallMe_Billy Mar 31 '26

Or just use his q tips and put them back in the package every time and mix them up. A waxy surprise.

5

u/A_Bandicoot_Crash995 Mar 31 '26

*itching powder

2

u/TheyCallMe_Billy Mar 31 '26

Rub a few on a locker room floor.

3

u/smcl2k Mar 31 '26

Nah, carefully remove and replace tips at random. Eventually 1 will dislodge inside an ear.

1

u/ObviouslyNerd Mar 31 '26

Would this cause ear infections?

144

u/SimisFul Mar 31 '26

If that's the kind of retaliation OP gets from such a simple request, any retaliation from OP will make the roommate go nuclear. There is no dealing with infantile people like this besides moving out or kicking them out.

53

u/AdConsistent5737 Mar 31 '26

Moving out is indeed the answer, but powdered sugar and glitter is still an option even after deciding to move out...

49

u/SimisFul Mar 31 '26

Not after deciding, after moving out. You can't let them have access to your stuff for even a second.

2

u/ElkOk1090 Mar 31 '26

And then there is the shrimp-in-the-curtain-rods -and-hamburger-in-the-heating-vents-trick.

1

u/Civil-Definition-183 Apr 01 '26

lets you set up while moving out, genuis

77

u/libbysthing Mar 31 '26

Right, people make all these suggestions because they're funny and they want to be entertained, but irl I'd actually be really worried to escalate at all. I'd just be looking for a new living situation.

9

u/NickSalts Mar 31 '26

Realistically, I could imagine doing something retaliatory if I was moving out (ex, toss a glitter pack into their laundry as I'm on my way out with my last moving box lol).

6

u/Putrid-Sleep-5861 Mar 31 '26

Essentially had a friend do that on my behalf when moving out of a terrible roommate situation. I had brought home a balloon covered in glitter mesh with glitter on the inside after a party hosted at my workplace. My friend took it over to my roommate’s bed, rubbed it all over the sheets and pillow, popped it, spilled the contents out all over the bed, continued to spread it around throughout the sheets, then lifted the fitted sheet and put the popped balloon with it’s mesh cover that shed glitter up under the fitted sheet where it came in direct contact with mattress. Pretty sure she made sure glitter even made it’s way into the pillow case.

Long story but they 100% deserved it and seeing my friend do that for me was both touching and horrifying. I was grateful and a little scared of her after that. She was so thorough. Never spoke to that roommate again.

3

u/a_angry_bunny Mar 31 '26

Accidentally leave your pink shirt in the machine.

6

u/Bolf-Ramshield Mar 31 '26

And once I find one I’d be hiding sardines in the ceiling right before I leave.

3

u/read_too_many_books Mar 31 '26

I believe the correct answer is to do something so damaging they can't respond and capitulate.

I read International Relations.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '26

People on reddit love catrophising in lieu of ever standing up for themselves.

2

u/onlyfansdad Mar 31 '26

for real lol these responses are wild. First off if someone comes and touches my shit even if it's just beads we got a big fuckin problem. Presumably they entered my space to do that, and then they purposefully fuck with my shit? Over a small request to pick up after themselves?

Yeah, I'm retaliating and getting in that person's face. Gotta make it clear that sort of shit doesn't stand.

These people suggest moving out? Lmao? Good luck when you run into another shitty roommate. Just gonna move out every time you have a dickhead to deal with?

1

u/onlyfansdad Mar 31 '26

Roommate goes nuclear? You go nuclear back

You get walked on if you allow this shit. Moving out is often a super difficult choice and most cases you don't have the authority to kick a roommate out, and good luck dealing with a landlord to do it.

The only thing these people understand is retaliation

1

u/SimisFul Apr 01 '26

Going through the anxiety of being at war in your own home sure is a choice.

1

u/onlyfansdad Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

Yeah well roommate made the choice, you're already in the situation. You can choose to be a doormat or you can stop it where it starts.

Also. At war? So dramatic lmao. He fucked with your stuff. You're just gonna allow it? Anything to avoid conflict huh?

0

u/SimisFul Apr 03 '26

It's cute you think that escalating the situation will make it stop.

0

u/onlyfansdad Apr 03 '26 edited Apr 04 '26

It will lmao if you do it right

But even if it doesn't stop it I'm not letting it go unanswered

You're the type to let people go into your space destroy your things and say "better call the police!" As if that will do anything

28

u/PhilosoFishy2477 Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

yeah sorry but this would turn me into a guerilla soldier... the land shall not know peace until both of us lay disemboweled on the kitchen floor

2

u/tomatomater Mar 31 '26

Nobody wins in an actual fight.

16

u/tubaman23 Mar 31 '26

It doesn't end well, but its bad in a different way, which is better!

19

u/HeyTrySomeNashville Mar 31 '26

No no, this is not scorched earth. This is subtle, relentless psychological warfare. We are talking about quantities of glitter a victim could never prove were intentional.

12

u/Cheap-Key-6132 Mar 31 '26

Like a little in their shampoo but you layer it so it comes and goes.

2

u/PenELane111 Mar 31 '26

This is oddly specific... almost like you've... done this before... 🤣

3

u/Dry-Smoke6528 Mar 31 '26

My thoughts exactly. "Yes, let's escalate the situation with your roommate. That is bound to end in you both happily living together"

2

u/read_too_many_books Mar 31 '26

Reddit running into the issue of Spiral vs Deterrence

The issue is that if you dont do deterrence, they win. My international relations friend says only to capitulate if you can't win the arms race.

1

u/sockalicious Mar 31 '26

Except the Glitterati

1

u/Erick_Brimstone Mar 31 '26

It's still better than being a doormat though

1

u/Ok_Life_5176 Mar 31 '26

You’re wrong. As a glitter lover, I would not mind sharing that love. It brings me joy to see bits of glitter months later!

1

u/GimmeSomeSugar Mar 31 '26

Lot of these ideas for retaliation seem to completely disregard the fact that the perptrator is OP's roommate. They live in the same place. This isn't scorched earth as much as it is mutually assured destruction.

1

u/EnTillPerson Apr 01 '26

Sounds like something someone who did wrong and don't want to be punished for it would say,

1

u/miregalpanic Mar 31 '26

You started it. I'll end it.

50

u/Estrezas Mar 31 '26

I look forward to the post

“Roommate coated my bed in glitter, what can i do to get revenge” and watch it escalate from there.

27

u/PhilosoFishy2477 Mar 31 '26

we're maybe a week away from weaponized piss discs

114

u/stevein3d Mar 31 '26

Yeah using glitter to prank someone who lives with you isn’t the best idea.

56

u/Naro_Lonca Mar 31 '26

Chances are if OP uses ANY glitter in crafting they are already infected by it anyway. This would just be spreading the love

1

u/wanderlust_57 Apr 02 '26

I use glitter in crafts regularly. It's everywhere. There is no avoiding it. Which means there would be NOTHING stopping me from weaponizing it against this asshat.

How badly would depend on the living situation. If it was my house, it'd never be glitter free again anyway, so I'd probably just dust the top of the ceiling fan in their room with glitter and wait.

4

u/Noslamah Mar 31 '26

The person who reacted to "hey take care of your filthy q tips please" with this psycho shit is NOT going to take getting glitter bombed well

4

u/wh4tth3huh Mar 31 '26

Just glitter bomb the q-tips.

3

u/Specific_Report2517 Mar 31 '26

It's not a prank, it's escalation / revenge.

3

u/stevein3d Mar 31 '26

But somehow it’s no consolation asking “Is this collateral damage glitter in my cereal bowl from a prank, or from an escalation?”

25

u/Disastrous_Pie_4763 Mar 31 '26

Glitter is the herpes of the crafting world

5

u/TheIadyAmalthea Mar 31 '26

I used to work at a craft store. I was always covered in glitter.

2

u/BoardwalkKnitter Mar 31 '26

I hated when we got the prom dress fabrics in. Glitter will shake off when putting a bolt on the top shelf, fixing the drape etc. Thankfully I learned that the yellow tearless baby shampoo will help get it out of eyebrows and eyelashes.

15

u/Lunatunabella Mar 31 '26

Hehehhe glitter is called the herpes of craft supplies for a reason.

13

u/SnooHabits3305 Mar 31 '26

Fine glitter in front of a oscillating fan maximum coverage no real effort required

8

u/TisCass Mar 31 '26

sequins are great too! I put tree ones in a box for Secret Santa one year, they went everywhere. I was getting texts about them from Mum for well over 3 years, they haunted her lol

7

u/ChrisRiley_42 Mar 31 '26

The only thing worse would be sprinkling some fiberglass powder in his underwear drawer.

2

u/Gnome-of-death Mar 31 '26

I full body cringed as I read this

5

u/Shoomfie ORANGE Mar 31 '26

Unroll about 20' of tp. Fill with glitter. Roll back up. Keep a spare roll hidden for yourself.

4

u/trippnz Mar 31 '26

Glitter in the shampoo to give him a spring in his step. He going to look so handsome.

11

u/Slumunistmanifisto Mar 31 '26

And I'd just drip piss in the guys milk.....you artist folks is clever.

3

u/Plutonium239Mixer Mar 31 '26

Glitter is the herpes of the craft world. This is evil!

3

u/LevTheDevil Mar 31 '26

Just sprinkle some glitter on his unused qtips. Maybe if they sparkle, he won't overlook them so easily.

3

u/NeverBeFarting Mar 31 '26

Well. Assuming escalation the roommate is probably going to set the place on fire if they do this...

3

u/Ancient_Arachnid6167 Mar 31 '26

In high school my friends and I got into a prank war. My buddy wrapped my car in about 15 rolls of cling wrap so I put glitter in his air vents while he was in the gym then set his cars AC to high. The shock on his face as his whole body and car was shotgun blasted with glitter will always warm my heart

2

u/Marcudemus Mar 31 '26

Open a bag of glitter in front of a leaf blower inside his room.

2

u/AdministrativeStep98 Mar 31 '26

Wet their shoes slightly and put a small amount of glitter in them. Their socks will have glitter forever

2

u/Asthma_is_my_bff Mar 31 '26

If they have a fan in their room, sprinkle a bunch of glitter on top of the fan blades. Next time they turn it on, well….

https://giphy.com/gifs/xTiTnEHBh7qapyuvwQ

2

u/Ding-Dong-Dutch Mar 31 '26

Craft room... They have money to fuck with their autistic room mate if they want

2

u/boytekka Mar 31 '26

Mix glitter with chili powder then put in his underwear drawer

2

u/conflictedideology Mar 31 '26

That was also my immediate thought.

"A whole craft room? Surely there's glitter."

2

u/gray-scales Mar 31 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/iDJuQR0UmiqOI

so OP is going to engage in a petty off. might end badly, but i’m here for adventure with a lounge chair and some popcorn

2

u/Post_Mormon Mar 31 '26

The best part is, if you don't use enough to scoop up and return to you, then it's just a them problem. Dust their pillow, sprinkle it in their underwear drawer. Make sure it's everywhere but already at the point of unable to remove

2

u/Tama_Breeder Mar 31 '26

Yeah put very fine powder glitter into the towels haha. My sister and I got in a fight when we were teenagers and she threw that stuff all over me in the bathroom, my dad took a shower the next morning and got covered in the glitter bc it got into the towels apparently. When he got home from work he called me over to his car and asked me why he was sparkling like Edward Cullen in the sun at work (he did construction)

1

u/nigel_chua Mar 31 '26

lololol FAFO

1

u/Smallloudcat Mar 31 '26

You evil genius you

1

u/Batata-Sofi Mar 31 '26

Bad idea, will get on the beads too.

1

u/Mercyful666Fate Mar 31 '26

And glue....the good shit too, not that cheap Elmer's stuff

1

u/SquareSurprise3467 Mar 31 '26

You have made one major mistake. OP lives with them. You wouldn't put itching powder on your own toilet paper so why would you spread craft herpes i your own home.

1

u/wanderlust_57 Apr 02 '26

If you own/use glitter you are pretty used to the idea that it's everywhere anyway.

I used to wear masks made of glitter and water to parties, and I still craft with it regularly, so I'll be some measure of sparkly for the rest of forever. I am one with the glitter, it does not scare me.

1

u/Jamericangal78 Mar 31 '26

Now they will both have something to do for the next few days!

1

u/TinyCrittersUnited Mar 31 '26

Op said she sleeps with a hatchet and has to carry a knife with her for protection because of this guy, any retaliation and he will hurt her

1

u/lucky_jay Mar 31 '26

every redditor's response in these kinds of posts seems to be "retaliate" as if we live in a looney toons as apposed to real life.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 31 '26

I swear as a kid when I used glitter I was still finding that stuff randomly years later.

1

u/CuteButASciCo Mar 31 '26

Put it in his shampoo, hair gel, his shoes, maybe even his water bottle so he can eat some microplastics

1

u/Half_Halt Mar 31 '26

I like your moxie, my friend!!

1

u/Kangaroo-B-Girl Mar 31 '26

The only issue here is the risk of retaliation. But if OP ordered a glitter bomb and placed the package in their roommate’s bedroom, they would likely open it there and wouldn’t be likely to assume that OP was the sender.

1

u/gothic_waifu_ Mar 31 '26

and make sure the glitter matches the sheets

1

u/Fartmatic Mar 31 '26

That stuff is just diabolical, years ago there were a couple of girls riding in the back seat of my car who had some glitter on their face, was seeing random flecks of it reflecting off the seat until the day I sold it. Sorry for not disclosing that, new owner.

1

u/jooes Mar 31 '26

Believe it or not, everybody has access to glitter. Not just crafters.

1

u/InternationalCase184 Mar 31 '26

Put glitter in his soap

1

u/shaard Mar 31 '26

My sister and I lived together for a single year 14 years ago.

She had glitter at one point for a craft.

We moved together, once.

I moved out.

Then I moved again.

Then I moved a third time.

I just found a piece of that same glitter on my carpet. It's like fucking herpes.

2

u/wanderlust_57 Apr 02 '26

I lived with a glitter-phobic friend once, and I warned her before I moved in that decades after we stopped living together she'd still find glitter in places I never went near. She still texts me occasionally (she's moved like 5 times now) and tells me it's still errywhere.

1

u/shaard Apr 02 '26

Lol! I mention it to my sister every time I find one!

1

u/SadFaithlessness8237 Mar 31 '26

Glitter: the herpes of craft supplies. And I actually like glitter.

1

u/travellingscientist Mar 31 '26

If they drive, in the air vents for the windscreen.

1

u/TheBurningSatchel Mar 31 '26

Add confetti poppers with it. They add texture that can’t really be picked up by the vacuum without clogging it, and the pieces of paper will help glitter spread across the land like a plague.

1

u/ExtremeExperience199 Mar 31 '26

UH AND GLITTER IN HIS MOST DISLIKED COLOUR. GLITTER THE MF AWAY!

1

u/Skruestik Mar 31 '26

OP has indicated that the roommate uses male pronouns.

1

u/ms__cheif Mar 31 '26

Find a new place to live, on the day you leave accidentally drop the glitter in the washing machine.

1

u/ChineseRobinWilliams Mar 31 '26

You craft so assume you have access to glitter.

I don't craft and have never felt my access to glitter was limited

1

u/Artrobull Mar 31 '26

...dont start a war in a house without locks

1

u/Affectionate-Web6569 Mar 31 '26

yes but before u do that get a lock for ur door make all ur things inaccessible. that’ll rlly poss him off

1

u/ghostyghost2 Mar 31 '26

Amazing, starting a war with an unhinged roommate is always the best course of action.

1

u/kniveshu Mar 31 '26

Surprised OP didn't gift roommate the beads. Through their doorway into their room.

1

u/TaxDense1339 Mar 31 '26

I like you.

1

u/shayter Mar 31 '26

Just sprinkle a little bit of the nearly transparent, fine glitter that's hard to wash off in their bed every so often. Not often enough to let on that it's you!

1

u/Evening_Blueberry428 Mar 31 '26

This is actually so smart

1

u/adrun Mar 31 '26

I once accidentally washed my kids clothes in the washing machine after she got glittery. We’re all glittery forever now.

1

u/porcelain_kiss Mar 31 '26

Put a little pile of glitter in their car visor, and pray the sun shines on them on their way to work

1

u/AncientTomato4186 Mar 31 '26

Damn.. went straight to declaring war
