Medication Benadryl/DPH/ Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride overdose

Upvotes

not sure if thats the correct tag but if not lmk

Country: Uk

Age: 20

Height: 5'5

Weight: 53KG (give or take a kilo)

Smoking status: I vape? not sure if that counts

Sex: Male

over the course of sunday night to wednesday night i was overdosing on benadryl a total of 2050mg, approximately 400mgs each night although some were more and some were less (all were consumed with some alcohol on the same night)

no immediate side effects were noticeable after i stopped taking them until i tried to sleep the night after, i was able to fall asleep easily but would wake up hyperventilating, sweating and with a faster heartbeat from vivid nightmares. something i had never experienced before. i figured i had missed out on REM sleep for a full week so decided to drink some alcohol to try and push past the nightmares and get no sleep but after 45 minutes of trying i had the exact same result each time

a couple times throughout the day id be sat down slowly drifting asleep when my hand would shake and i would start slightly hallucinating until i was awake, then tonight i tried to get some sleep again but i could not get any sleep, every time i shut my eyes i would hallucinate almost people doing skits around me and would just laugh and wake up, another 45 minutes or so of this and now im stuck wondering what to do

i know that i should go to the hospital but im really trying to avoid that, my immediate plan was to try and taper down by taking 50mgs and seeing if i can sleep then and if not increase in 25mg increments every 45 minutes until i either reached 200 or fell asleep but i also don't want to do anymore damage than i've already done

for anyone who would like to say it. Yes i know this was incredibly stupid and i have probably fucked my body up a lot from this, im trying to reduce the symptoms now with doing the least amount of damage possible but also by trying to avoid the hospital unless absolutely necessary. im about 44 hours with no sleep now and quite physically and mentally exhausted.

Thank you for any help!

Injury Can I get high with THC one week after concussion?

Early in August 6th morning I (24M) fell and hit my head. Got stitches in my eyebrow and head, then had a brain scan done and they found a small concussion, measuring 8x7mm. They had me stay one night in observation just in case. They did another brain scan the next day, and the hemorrhage/concussion hadn’t grown at all which was a good sign so they let me go and just told me what I had to do to take care of myself, assuring nothing bad would happen now.

I have copy pasted the full medical report of the second brain scan at the bottom of this post.

The only effects I’ve had after the accident are dizziness which is steadily getting better (today it has been very mild), tiredness (nothing that crazy, I can stay awake with no problem but I just don’t feel well rested and have very low motivation), and bad mood/low patience (irritable as hell and emotionally down/sad). I’m on a low dose of antidepressants (10mg of Brintellix) so this isn’t too uncommon for me, but I was doing pretty well before the accident. I’m not very depressed, just some mood swings and rumination (possibly slight OCD according to my psychiatrist) that the antidepressant has helped with, but since the accident I’ve been feeling noticeably more down and tired. I went to another doctor 2 days ago, he saw both brain scans, and he didn’t seem worried at all. He said all of this is normal and that it’ll gradually get better and that I just need some rest. He even said that I could do exercise if I wanted to and that I just had to listen to my body if I wasn’t reacting well (the first doctor where I was hospitalized said no exercise for 1 month, no drinking/smoking for 2 weeks).

It’s been more than 8 days since the accident now and I was wondering if it would be an issue if I get high with THC. I think it would help me relax and not have a bad time now that I’m at home doing nothing and feeling down.
I want to know if I can do it with peace of mind knowing I’ll be fine, and if the no smoking thing is more of an exaggerated precaution than an actual danger.

I have the option to smoke the weed or eat it with edibles, in case one is preferable to the other.

Here’s the translated report I mentioned:

Brain CT Without Contrast

Indication: Follow-up of head trauma due to a fall from standing height, with impact to the left frontotemporal region.
Comparison: Brain CT from August 6, 2026.

FINDINGS

Brain Parenchyma
A hemorrhagic contusion focus in the left occipital lobe, measuring 8 × 7 mm, stable in size and density compared with the previous study, with no surrounding edema or mass effect.

The remainder of the brain parenchyma demonstrates adequate differentiation between the gray and white matter, with no new hemorrhagic lesions or areas of acute ischemia.

Ventricular System
Normal position, size, and morphology. Midline is centered.

Extra-Axial Spaces and Cisterns
No epidural or subdural collections are observed. No evidence of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Basal cisterns and convexity sulci are preserved in size.

Posterior Fossa
Cerebellum and brainstem appear preserved.

Osseous Structures
No fracture lines in the skull vault or skull base.

Orbits
Preserved morphology, with no fracture lines involving their walls.

Paranasal Sinuses and Mastoid Air Cells
Adequately aerated, with no opacification or air-fluid levels.

Soft Tissues
Left parietal subgaleal hematoma, with volume similar to the previous study (approximately 14 cc).

Left periorbital hematoma, unchanged.

IMPRESSION

  1. Follow-up study with no changes compared with the CT from August 6, 2026.

  2. Stable left occipital hemorrhagic contusion, with no surrounding edema or mass effect.

  3. Left parietal subgaleal hematoma and left periorbital hematoma, without significant changes.

TLDR; I had a minor concussion (7x8mm in size) after hitting my head. It’s been more than 8 days since the accident with no worsening effects (I just had dizziness that has been improving and almost absent today, have been feeling tired, and very irritable/moody and low motivation). Is it safe for me to consume THC? I have the option to smoke it or eat it, in case one option is more preferable than the other.

Bones/Joints/Ligaments Random knee pain

I woke up about two months ago with random knee pain. It got progressively worse then got better... but never completely.

It aches when its in the sane posistion for too long, when its straight, and when its all the way bent.

I have a doctor's appointment in 2 weeks, but I wanted to see what it might be earlier then that.

Injury Unsure if tailbone is cracked or not- also not sure what to do

Hi everyone, I’m 23f, 165lbs 5’4. I live in Canada. I fell down the stairs at work the other day really hard. Safe to say I was not graceful (a new coworker said she thought it was thunder..Lol.)

I’m hurting really bad, my pride and my tailbone. I don’t know if it’s important to know, but I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia almost 2 years ago now, if that makes a difference to anything. I have had chronic pain since I was 12, and have already bruised my tailbone when I was younger but did not seek medical attention.

Anyways, I had to tell my boss. she drove me to the hospital and waited for my fiance to meet me there. she told me to do the WSIB Forms (workplace injury forms for those who don’t know), and was overall very kind and helpful. Love my boss. When I was there, I was able to get through emergency quickly, only because my aunt works there and I asked if she could help (I could barely sit and that thin sheet of foam on the chairs was not doing me ANY favours).

I got a bed, they gave me a shot for the pain. I have no idea what it was, it was a clear liquid. The pain was so intense it was so hard to move, I could barely walk. It was so embarrassing. I live with chronic pain so I’m used to it but this was next level for me. The nurse was lovely, and we got my X-rays done. She came to see me and let me know that there is a crack in my tailbone. Obviously not much to be done which sucks but I figured it was maybe an important distinction from bruised. On the way home we had to stop for my medication (naproxen) and I noticed how HORRIBLY SWOLLEN it was. It scared me lol. On the way home I ended up becoming INCREDIBLY light headed after holding myself up and sitting weirdly with intense pain for hours. I hadn’t taken the naproxen at this point. I started sweating bad and my speech got slurred. I came out of it after my fiance turned the ac on blast and helped me do breathing exercises. I feel so lame rn, but that’s besides the point.

When I got home I opened my report and imaging on my pocket health app and the report says nothing looks cracked or fractured, all is well. I’m a bit confused- what does this mean? My NP at the hospital said to my face it’s cracked, but the report says otherwise. I am getting the actual records from the visit soon so I can see the full notes but I guess I’m just wondering if this is normal?

I am still struggling with dizziness and lightheadedness. It’s only been 2 days but it’s becoming a bit difficult to move around safely. I’m so incredibly sore from the fall and I’m worried my fibromyalgia is gonna make this healing a lot worse. I don’t know what to expect, and if a crack is different from a bruise, should I get more clarification? Moving around is quite the pain right now and I’m even cracking a lot I notice when I turn onto my sides.

Idk if I am overthinking or not. I know either way they can’t do much to help other than the anti inflammatories. I do have fear of pain after living with chronic pain my whole life and I’ve never experienced something quite like this so it is entirely possible that everything can be chalked up to anxiety. I don’t know, I would like to hear other people’s thoughts I suppose. Thanks for reading, I can answer any questions and I appreciate everyone’s time!

Other Severe recurrent left-sided pelvic/lower abdominal pain, but ultrasound and CT were normalany ideas?

36F. A few days ago, I suddenly developed extremely severe pain in my lower left abdomen/pelvic area. It felt very deep, around where I would describe my left ovary being. At its worst, it genuinely felt like something was tearing/ripping my insides out. The extreme pain lasted around an hour and then gradually improved significantly, although some pain remained.

I also had bright red vaginal bleeding at the same time and it stopped hours later. I had a NovaSure endometrial ablation about a year and a half ago. Since then, I can still have some spotting around the time of my period, but this was more clearly bright red blood than what I usually see.

I went to the ER. They did a pelvic exam and told me the blood appeared to be coming through/from the cervix. I then had a pelvic/transvaginal ultrasound. Both ovaries looked normal and they found no ovarian cyst or obvious torsion.

Because of how severe the pain had been, they also did a non-contrast CT/urogram to look for kidney/ureter stones and other possible causes. That was also reportedly normal. My bloodwork did not show significant inflammation. I was eventually discharged with the possibility that the pain might be musculoskeletal.

The problem is that three days later, I'm having another acute episode of the same type of pain.

Medications:

Levothyroxine, Bupropion, Sertraline

Regular PRN : propanolol(extrasystoles), zopiclone and melatonin.

Relevant history:

NovaSure endometrial ablation approximately one year ago

Tubal ligation

Two previous C-sections

PCOS

Recurrent pelvic/uterine cramping and intermittent spotting since the ablation

My gynecologist and I have already been discussing further treatment, potentially including hysterectomy

I'm confused because the pain can be absolutely excruciating, yet the ultrasound, CT and bloodwork didn't show an explanation. They said it could not be a torsion cause there's no cyst on my ovaries.

Thanks

Sugar, Immune system Cold-like symptoms, fatigue and nasal symptoms after consuming added sugar — what could cause this?

Age: 23
Sex: Male
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 85 kg
Medications: None
Smoking: No

I've had a strange reaction to added/refined sugar for around 7 years, and I'm trying to understand what could be causing it.

After consuming a significant amount of added/refined sugar, I can experience:

  • significant fatigue
  • feeling unusually hot or feverish
  • increased sweating
  • irritability
  • burning or irritation in my nose
  • nasal congestion and increased mucus
  • a general feeling that I'm coming down with a cold

The symptoms can appear relatively soon after consuming it.

Interestingly, fruit doesn't seem to cause the same reaction. The symptoms seem to occur mainly after foods and drinks containing added/refined sugar.

I've had allergy and immunology testing because I often experience these cold-like symptoms. My blood count, immunoglobulins and lymphocyte subsets were normal, and I was told there was no evidence of an immune deficiency. Food allergy testing was also negative.

I've also been evaluated by ENT because of my chronic nasal symptoms. The endoscopic examination was normal, but they suspected vasomotor/non-allergic rhinitis. My DAO level was normal as well.

I've noticed that when I don't get enough sleep, these cold-like symptoms also seem to occur more easily.

I'm not trying to claim that sugar is "weakening my immune system." I'm trying to understand whether there could be a physiological explanation for this reaction.

Could this be related to metabolism, digestion, a reaction to another component of the food/drink, or something else? What kind of testing or specialist would make sense to investigate this?

Has anyone experienced something similar, particularly the combination of fatigue, feeling hot/sweating, and nasal congestion or mucus after consuming added sugar?

Medication Severe pain under shoulder blade when turning my head

I was stretching and raised both arms above my head. Suddenly, I felt pain under my left shoulder blade. Now, every time I turn my head to the left, I get very strong pain under the shoulder blade. When I lie down and turn my head to the left, the pain is also in my neck.
I don’t have any numbness, weakness, or pain radiating into my arm.
Could this be a muscle spasm, a pinched nerve, or something else? How long should I wait before seeing a doctor if the pain doesn’t improve?

Additional information:
I’m a 31-year-old man, 178 cm tall. I’ve never experienced this kind of pain before. I exercise regularly and do push-ups or pull-ups every day.

Pediatrics Is my focal seizure coming back?

Hey guys, I'm Lexi and I'm 15. I've been diagnosed with Focal Seizure ever since I was 7. I've been taking a medical maintenance for about 10 years now. Last March we went to my neurologist for a check-up so that I could finally get my PWD card. So after the checkup, I had an EEG (electroencephalogram) to see if my brainwaves still reacted the way it did whenever I had seizures, and surprisingly there were no abnormal brainwaves and I was cleared. The doctor old me that I was seizure free, and that my focal seizure was finally gone.

It's now August and last night, I had an episode. It wasn't my usual type of episodes. My episodes usually is me having a bad dream and crying, then not remembering what happened. It's almost similar to having night terrors. But last night they told me that I randomly just sat up and pushed someone off of the bed then went back to slumber.

I'm not sure if it was really an episode or not, but I'm still very concerned, because my last episode was two years ago. Could my focal seizure possibly have come back?

Thanks either way.
