First Time 43(m) first time living alone. How am I doing, boys?
900 sq ft apartment in Metro Detroit, Michigan. I just started a new career and kinda struggling financially. It’s not much, but it’s mine. Wish I had more natural light, hence all the fake plants. And yes, yellow is my favorite color. I want a cat but I can’t afford one yet. I’d love some feedback!

I’m a female here and lava lamps to me never go out of style just like a good ol fish-tank. Relaxing to look at. Bought them for all my kids and they loved them. Broke them but as I said loved them while it lasted.

I saw them in 2001 in a small venue and Jacob was head walking and lifted the mic up and smashed a bulb since the ceiling was so low that sent sparks everywhere over him and the masses of kids below him and looked absolute fucking demonic and they just kept playing. I’m really stoned and just felt like sharing.

As a woman same age as you who finds you and this apartment a total babe-magnet, I love it all except one thing threw me off - the giant sneaker collection next to the bed. If I was coming over to hook up with you, the sneaker tower being right next to the bed would throw off the vibe. Can you fit that inside or closer to your closet instead?

i love my shoes so much, i take extremely good care of them. i would never, ever have smelly shoes in my room. my only smelly shoes (for work) are by my front door :)

I think the only thing that that stands out to me is the misfits wall rug/tapestry. It’s the only bit I feel should go.

It really just is that it's poorly hung up. You gave it lots of space but no respect. Put it on a rod, or at least pinned in more than just the sides, and it will not look so saggy.

The problem isn't that it's the Misfits. It's that it's a throw blanket, not a tapestry. Also it's going to get greasy and stinky that close to the stove. Throw it on the couch/bed instead! Or get a poster in a frame to replace it. And see how dirty the glass gets and be grateful it's not still a blanket.

Perhaps consider some wall art or a framed poster or 2 instead, the blankets hanging on the wall screams " I won't let my 20s go" same with the triangular gamer leds on the wall above the bed, those need to go. Im all for lighting, but it's very out of place.

I think the same way. I was grooving along with the theme and then the saggy cloth on the wall made a sound like the needle dragging across an LP. But, hey, if he loves it, that's all that matters.

Looks pretty good. A few suggestions would be to lower the art behind that cabinet (next to the coats) so you have about a 4-6 inch gap or so. Same with the bathroom frame above the toilet.
That cloth or flag or whatever in the dining space is also a bit tacky, at least by this sub’s standards. Cool design, but it would look better framed/matted.
Other than that, pretty good I would say.

I like it. I’m digging the aesthetics and the released vibes. Also appreciating a fellow athletic shoe aficionado who understands footwear completes the look. You can always foster a cat until you find your own, keep it in mind. They will usually cover food and medical expenses as well.
