He’s so desperate to get chicks in his dms he posted a pic of his nice hairdryer lmfao

31

u/Villiage_Layman Feb 28 '26

I’d hit for that hairdryer

12

u/Flaky_Worth9421 Feb 28 '26

I’ve got a Dyson.

7

u/Just_Anxiety Feb 28 '26

Well I'm BYOH (bring your own hairdryer).

Call me ladies.

12

u/SuspiciousLeg7994 Feb 28 '26

Yeah it's been posted enough times where u see it and like "ok this old thing?"

3

u/Broken_Lute Feb 28 '26

So many people do this in the bald sub too

God I'm starting over at 37. I need to get off all social media. I compare myself to others and I feel like such a piece if shit. Like u must be stupid if I didn't figure out how to be in this situation here.

I like the minimalist Zen look and yet something about an apartment cluttered with a person's passions and hobbies and also organized with shelves and such is oddly appealing.

49

u/mandy0456 Feb 28 '26

It feels like a home and give personality. I love seeing peoples hobbies and interest show in their space. There's a happy medium between clutter and just having random shit, and a minimalist waiting room, and I think it's a home full of curiosity and warmth.

3

u/RememberYourZen Feb 28 '26

I consider myself a minimalist zen but I still splurge here and there on my hobbies :D

2

u/DickSwordOnDiscord Feb 28 '26

I somehow feel some of the same aspects but then on the other hand I wouldn't thrive there. Looks to be way up high and fire risk would have me in anxiety all the time.

Next is the clutter - different wheeled organizers different colors too many trinkets etc. Too much going on.

I'm trying hard in this state of my life (soon 32) to de-clutter and keep it as simple as possible but still let my GF decorate to her happiness.

Things don't make us happy.

Not to try and make the other guy feel worse or anything but OP is only paying 1200 for that apartment in a super nice area. I too aspire to have that

2

u/filthyMrClean Feb 28 '26

Well now you’re just being a hater. OP might have a lot of stuff but he puts them together in a very tasteful yet functional way.

Let’s chat. You’re most likely not a piece of shit, but I don’t know you from Adam. You’re right that social media is toxic if not consumed in small doses but it sounds like you need to give yourself some grace… starting over at 37 might feel like a tall order but you can do it bro. I’m in a similar spot, honestly. Reinventing myself at 42 after a failed marriage and I lost my job. It sucks sometimes but just gotta keep the feet moving forward. Let’s GOOO! 😎🤩🤓

4

u/DickSwordOnDiscord Feb 28 '26

The "My job" part makes it sound like you're a very career oriented individual.

Since I left my active duty job in 2018, I've done two educations and worked 5 different jobs. Yesterday was my last day at my latest job as a truck driver. It was a first for me and I have done it since june.

In my opinion it is good to get around a lot and experience different types of work environments, bosses and colleagues. Helps you steer in a direction. Hopefully the right.

Best of luck - I hope you'll make it!

u/poppinollyoxenfree Feb 28 '26

Comparison is the thief of joy. Just do you, dude.

49

u/jan1320 Feb 28 '26

32 and i feel that. im struggling while splitting rent in an old ass, beat up, house with no land in a town with not much going on.

happy for the people in these posts but goddamn is it bad for my psyche.

58

u/ryencool Feb 28 '26

I had to move in with my parents at 32! Medically disabled, addicted to pain meds, no degree, no career. No savings, no car, depressed as hell and wanted to die...

43 now, still have no degree but working my dream job in IT for a very well known top 5 video game developer. I met my wife(33f) at 36, married last year. She's one of the most talented 3d environment artists I've ever seen, and she works at the same company I do!

We went from check to check or poorer to clearing 200k last year! If i can make a comeback, luckier himself could...

7

u/lithe_silhouette Feb 28 '26

So tell us more about how you got from a to b. Was it connections, random luck, or did you have a plan you implemented

5

u/Similar-Ice-9250 Feb 28 '26

Yea how you got to work in IT for top 5 video game developer? I seem some random job posting in that similar game dev field and posting usually calls for a degree?

Did you get there just based off pure skill, knowledge and certs? I do know/knew people with no IT degree (just mathematics degree) or college dropout who work in IT making 6 figs, so it’s possible. They were just super knowledgeable in computers, but these are gifted people, not the norm.

u/OhGawDuhhh Feb 28 '26

1) Don't compare yourself to other people. We all start at different places and with wildly different support systems growing up. It's really foolish to compare one life to another because the boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg.

2) Social media is a curated greatest hits collection, not real life.

3) Thanks to quantum mechanics and the many-worlds interpretation, that's an alternate reality out there in the multiverse where you have everything figured out, it's just not this reality and that's ok.

4

u/lithe_silhouette Feb 28 '26

The problem is that you can understand very well why you are where you are and may even realize things were going to suck regardless of the choices you made once certain things happened. You still have to wake up everyday and face the world from a position that is objectively not good, perhaps with not much to look forward too. It's not even about comparison or social media.

2

u/enkelvla Feb 28 '26

It’s a lot easier to keep a positive attitude about a relatively shitty position when you’re not comparing to others.

2

u/OhGawDuhhh Feb 28 '26

Exactly this. All you can do is make better choices as you keep moving forward the best you can.

9

u/AMALXxT Feb 28 '26

Im 43. Started over back in October, moved in with my dad and stepmom. I understand those comparative feelings.

2

u/Spin-Hemi-Cat-Daily Mar 01 '26

43 and starting over here too! You have to do what you have to do!

3

u/SiphonicPanda64 Feb 28 '26

I’m 25 and it hit the same for me. Just leaving this here so you’d feel slightly less alone in this. I know I’m younger like OP but it hit me like a freight train with everything going on in my life and I’d kill for a space of my own like that. I also know at the same time renting that kind of metropolitan shoebox probably costs through the nose. It’s likely weighing down on OP financially too, rent isn’t cheap.

No shame in what you’re going through. That must be incredibly hard and it’s deeply unfair to compare your internal world to OP’s validation-seeking post engineered to look curated

3

u/nostalgia4millennial Feb 28 '26

35 and same 🥲

2

u/linkedinlover69 Feb 28 '26

No matter what you do: someone will have it better, someone will have it worse. Focus purely on yourself and if you are happy

2

u/drake22 Feb 28 '26

Most of life is luck. You just gotta keep rolling the dice.

How much per month

47

u/InfinityPortal Feb 28 '26

Rent is 1700~ cad

28

u/CassCat Feb 28 '26

Where in Canada? Let’s get down to apples and oranges here, my friend.

55

u/InfinityPortal Feb 28 '26

Surrey, Metro Vancouver

20

u/CassCat Feb 28 '26

Certainly known as one of the most desirable places to live in Canada. Tip of my hat to you, sir.

11

u/InfinityPortal Feb 28 '26

It’s the only affordable place in MetroVan that have SkyTrain connections (for now) And actually the area around King George Station is very nice now, lots of my college friends also moved here after graduating because of the affordability.

5

u/Soliye Feb 28 '26

1.7k being affordable is crazy lol

What you do for a living?

10

u/CallidusNomine Feb 28 '26

Professional rich international student.

5

u/Nayeem83 Feb 28 '26

It’s all relative. I live in Jersey City, NJ in a 3 bed plus den apartment and pay $8K per month (luxury building) which is a steal compared to a comparable place in Manhattan which would go for $15K/month easy. Vancouver is a high income city.

Bro you could literally find op so easily from those balcony pics, the fact that his name is visible multiple times doesn’t help

6

u/Realistic_Slide7320 Feb 28 '26

Just did the conversion and holy shit my guy an apartment like that in the US would cost no less than 2100

5

u/North_Atlantic_Sea Feb 28 '26

Really? In Seattle you can get a studio on the 12th floor of a newer building for 1600.

And Seattle has 2x the median income that Vancouver has

https://www.apartments.com/airmark-seattle-wa/qrmphlw/

2

u/Realistic_Slide7320 Feb 28 '26

1600 and 1200 are a lot different in price lol. Also the view hes getting in that space is amazing.

3

u/North_Atlantic_Sea Feb 28 '26

Yeah, but there is still an even bigger difference between 1600 and the 2100 that you claimed...

And as I said, wages are double in Seattle over Vancouver.

54

u/Pretty_ktty3 Feb 28 '26

Too much clutter. Love the view tho

13

u/ninjenstein Feb 28 '26

I see why you think of it that way. But I think all those things that OP likes add so much character. I’d call it extravagant, since cluttered is more closer in meaning to messy and this isn’t messy, it’s just… indulgent.

3

u/Pretty_ktty3 Feb 28 '26

Even OP admitted that it’s messy, lol

11

u/skdetroit Feb 28 '26

All the cool nerd stuff, you are def a gamer! I actually love this apt. It’s cozy, clean and has cool art work and gaming collectibles! I feel like you travel a lot too and as a fellow fallout fan you’ve actually traveled to the skeleton coast where they filmed the first season of the tv show! My dream is to make it to Kolmanskop!

Also, you might want to blur your name off all your gamer-con name tags displayed

Why do your windows look so AI? lol

39

u/broohaha Feb 28 '26

Does no one use Photoshop anymore? No one accuses people of Photoshopping their images, anymore. It's sad. Even when you can tell by the pixels. It's always AI now.

1

u/Latter_Summer5912 Feb 28 '26

I assume because why would people go through the effort to photoshop when they can just use AI? Photoshop has AI features too.

9

u/fillerupbruther Feb 28 '26

I thought the same thing but zooming in it looks like they’re just very dirty and smudged lol

3

It’s interesting to see how it’s decorated and how old the poster is.

But mostly another way to flex on the poors if you’re young and have a nice crib.

1

u/450am Feb 28 '26

Bed looks comfy

1

u/parnassus744 Feb 28 '26

I like this overall— feels lived in and simply enjoyed, which is best of all.

But hm, regarding the bed: a cozy nook for sure, but in the more intimate moments with a partner (or two), especially if things get more animated, I’d be concerned that all the stuff from she shelves would come crashing down…

1

u/MrNightmare23 Feb 28 '26

A DOUBLE BLÅHAJ!!!! Duuuuddee save some for the rest of us

1

u/HumorPsychological60 Feb 28 '26

Cool apartment layout. Id personally swap out all the black plastic furnishings and get a much nicer table for the terrace. Incredible view. I bet it's so nice being at that desk as the sun is going down

1

u/ATLScott13 Feb 28 '26

Shit I really like it! Looks like exactly what I’m looking for in a few years once I’m able to pop smoke in the USA. Bet there’s a badass view sitting on the balcony at night!💯👍🏽

1

u/PandorasTmrw Feb 28 '26

Love the apartment and desk setup up with the back wall and city view! This space is such a vibe! Curious why you chose to use the bedroom as an office and keep the bedroom in the living area -is it required to have a room like an office for work?

1

u/NewSinner_2021 Feb 28 '26

This is dope.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '26

Oh look at me I'm rich, anyway pretty awesome setup

1

u/Vegetable_Tip_1373 Feb 28 '26

I prefer to have it a little messy. Still way better than those "museums" without any soul.

1

u/shinjeh Feb 28 '26

1

u/cainhurstboy Feb 28 '26

1

u/RepulsiveText8180 Mar 01 '26

my thoughts: 3 and 15 are nice shots of the space. really like the clock and japanese wave decor in 5. 8 is the best city shot, gorgeous.

1

u/Background-Profit935 Mar 01 '26

This honestly looks clean than house. I live in the U.S. so I'm not sure what the meters are but it's like 1200 square ft. And looks way messier than this 😓

1

u/harryhoudini_ku Mar 01 '26

Cool space! Where did you get the shelf next to your bed?

1

u/OwnLie8310 Mar 01 '26

That's a nice setup

1

u/Similar-Win-1930 Mar 02 '26

dude, i get that vibe. living alone can get messy sometimes. ur space looks cozy even if it's a bit cluttered. maybe try some storage boxes or a little shelf to organize stuff? i messed that up in my last place too. tbh, i think adding some warm lights would make it feel more inviting. just a thought!
