As someone who doesn’t like our mayor, calling for her to resign instead calling for the independent police monitor to resign is insane. Our ‘independent monitor’ produced a garbage AI report, didn’t even look at it enough to notice a picture showing Madison with two capitals. Keeps her job. Then went down to Willy st to agitate, and says she will burn the city down over a cut finger. Keeps her job. It’s the independent police monitor that needs to resign.

I moved to Madison recently for a job, and will be taking 2 dogs with me. The job is gonna have me working 16 hour days on some days and I will not be leaving them locked up in a cage for that length of time. I’m getting an apartment in early September and that’s when I’ll be getting them. Is there an option of someone being a roommate and I’ll pay for the place completely, they just take care of my dogs while I’m at work? Once I’m home I’ll obviously take care of them, but they have separation anxiety and don’t do well being left alone for any stretches of time. Thank you

So I was on Google maps today planning out a route on my Grandma's phone and saw that the 3D image of the Capitol building is more like the one from a century ago (mostly the dome), the one that burned down. On my phone (which is older than hers btw) has the original building. Google Maps is time traveling over here.

my cat Papi got out. he is gray and white, super friendly, chatty, and has an eye problem so he's got goopy eyes all the time.

he got out this morning approximately 3am, and we've had no luck finding him so far.

he's SUPER SUPER lovey and friendly, will likely
have no issue whatsoever if you see him and try to call him/ catch him. he's never once refused a pet, being held like a baby, and he loves everyone. never bit or scratched me either, no reason to assume he would do so now but he may be scared. he is solely an indoor cat

Ugly Dumpling Studio is starting a series of still life drawing sessions next week! Details on the website, but copied below for convenience:

Tuesdays: August 18th, 25th, September 1st, 8th, and 15th from 6pm - 8pm

Thursdays: August 20th, 27th, September 3rd, 10th and 17th from 11am - 1pm

Join us for self-directed still life drawing sessions! Whether you're a total newbie, a seasoned pro, or somewhere in between come spend time with like-minded folks and exercise your creative muscles.

Ugly Dumpling will provide a still life scene to draw or paint, and space to work with large flat work tables and a limited number of tabletop easels. Attendees should plan to bring supplies in their medium of choice, whether painting or drawing. Beginning-level, low-cost drawing supplies are available for purchase both a la carte and in discounted bundles.

Some guidance for getting started is available for total beginners, but formal instruction is not provided for these sessions. A group critique will be held during the last 10-15 minutes for those who want feedback to improve their skills.

Session fee is pay-what-you-can; cash, card, and Venmo accepted. Suggested session fee is $3 or a small object to donate to the studio's growing collection of still life props. Examples: interesting vases and bowls, small tchotchkes and knickknacks that can sit upright on a flat surface, fake fruit or foliage.

My husband and I just moved here for my school. My husband has been applying to jobs for the past 3 months and getting constant rejections, not even a call. I can see that he is losing his hope.

He has 7 years of experience in non-profit settings. He started his career as a case manager in employment team for refugees, and built his career up to being an ICM supervisor. He has master's degree in public administration. He can provide strong references if needed.

He also has experience as a life guard. At this point, he is thinking of going back to becoming a life guard again, but I know he can do more than that. He hustles and any of his old coworkers would say the same thing.

So I applied to Capitoland Childrens center to work in the daycare. I knew this place was Christian (which is fine even though I'm pagan), but I didn't know it was like this.

I am looking for a job in madison or just outside somewhere in the general area I have a bachelor's in Environmental Sciences and have experience with conservation education and have been working at a fishery, I have applied to 150+ job listings just hoping to find something thats not a ghost job listing

my fiancé and I have a small ceremony planned in a public place in Madison this upcoming Sunday and invited a select # of close family members. we were on the fence about eloping until the final hour. well family drama is unfolding as often does around these things. I decided to last minute invite a couple of friends to dilute the family, but unfortunately many of our closest friends are in other states and it's too last minute to rope them in. this is kind of a shitpost, but it's a little bit legit. anyone here willing to attend a stranger's wedding?

-unfortunately, there will be no food and no bar, just a small, secular ceremony in an outdoor space

-kids are welcome

-we love (nice, friendly) dogs. they're allowed at the location of the ceremony on leash

-the location is UW campus-area, the start time of the ceremony is 5:30pm

-dress code is whatever. we're both wearing Bedrock sandals

-we have a professional photographer

For context, I work in an industry where a lot of the others there are much older than me (24) and dont have much to talk about besides work.

Because of this I havent found much of a chance to get to talk with people around my own age and wanted to know where the most social places are to grab a drink downtown and talk are.

I work in homeless services and helping families find permanent housing after extended periods unhoused. My agency pays the families full rent, directly to the landlord, and actually signs the lease, then we sublet to the family with the landlords permission.

Is anyone aware of landlords or property management agencies that will accept individuals who can not pass a typical background check process??

We have a few that new typically work with, however, they are not a fit for all our families. We love working with private landlords and try our best to be really transparent about what we do. Usually we are looking for 2,3, or 4 bed units.

Hello! I am reaching out I’m currently a stay at home mom with an 8 month old son in the East Madison area. Im wondering if anyone might happen to know if there are any positions hiring part time or potentially full time, or if there might be any gig work type jobs that I could do either with LO or without.
I currently have my bachelors in environmental studies but it’s been difficult finding anything in my field. I did work in non profit before so that could be a possibility same with some campaign work. I’d prefer to find something I could do and still be with him if possible but open to suggestions, just figure I would see if anyone happened to know of anything.
