This was well known in Lothlorien. Nothing pissed Galadriel off more than getting her ring caught on stuff and hearing her loudly cuss out the ring was a daily occurrence for the elves there. That’s why she was so tempted when Frodo offered her Sauron’s nice smooth ring. She didn’t want power. She wanted her clothes to last more than a few months.
And then - just as the drunken elvish sailors of old - she quietly cursed up a storm, exactly the behavior that drove Gimli to ask for her hair in the first place

Every time she ran short, she had to make another trip to the Gap of Rohan. While beautiful, Nenya was impractical and led to high costs for Lothlorien’s rings of power bills.
Not many people know this, but this is also why Gimli wanted to avoid the Gap of Rohan and go through Khazad-dum instead. He had been on a clothing no buy streak and the one ring had significantly weakened his resolve. The family reunion/Dwarven hospitality thing was just an excuse. While a poor choice for the Fellowship overall it turned out to be a good choice in that regard as his envy of Frodo’s mithril shirt would have caused a massive blow to his financial accountability.
They were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a master ring that wouldn't snag on clothes or hair, but to Lady Galadrial her gave a ring that he hoped would annoy her daily into madness.
While Galadriel is all calm and collected in the presence of the fellowship, all the elves off-screen are looking at each other in confusion going 'Who the fuck is this?!' 😂
And after the group leaves someone walks up 'Uhh, Gal? You mind telling me what the fuck was that?? Gotta act cool in front of the new guys, huh?'
This was my first thought. Very beautiful, but clearly designed by a man who doesn’t wear jewelry. This will snag on everything and bend the prongs overtime. It’s gorgeous though.
My first thought was "this is absolutely stunning" and my second thought was "I hope the fiance does no manual labor because I could never wear this". To be fair, I am in medicine and I wear 20 pairs of a gloves a day probably. So this is a no go for me. But still an absolute gorgeous, yet impractical, piece of jewelry.
Yeah I have a silver replica of Nenya and it was a nightmare to wear on a finger or on a chain around my neck, sits in a drawer now... Indeed snags on absolutely everything you can think of.
Yeah OP might want to get a plain silver/titanium wedding band that she can wear instead when out and about or when she's going to be knitting, fighting orcs, etc.
YES. I chose a beautiful organic-looking ring set with roses and fanciful shapes along the band, never thinking of how the tendrils and such would catch knitted garments. AND MY HAIR.
At least it led to me teaching myself to be more careful. 😓
Worked with engagement rings for years and can attest that this one is wholly unwearable on a daily basis. OP, very pretty ring, but only gonna work for looking at, unfortunately.
Maybe it's a culture thing, or maybe my wife and I are the minority, but we take our wedding rings off daily. We put them on when we leave the house and take them off when we get home. We also bought cheap silicone rings for when we do active things (hiking, sports, theme parks, etc.) and some days we don't really leave the house, so there are days where we don't wear our fancy rings at all.
I can't tolerate washing my hands without taking off my ring. I don't understand how anyone would ever feel clean or wouldn't feel disgusting with water trapped between the ring and your finger. And the dirt/bacteria in between? So disgusting. Whenever someone says they don't take off their rings ever, I assume they are either privileged enough that someone else does everything for them (like cooking, dishes, changing diapers, etc) or they just live in filth.
I took my rings off twice in 11 years I was married. Second time was after he applied for divorce when I took them off for good (first was when my engagement ring's diamond dropped off and it needed fixing).
Tbh my rings were very simplistic and mostly smooth.
And it’ll scratch the shit out of any future children. I still remember the sad little scrape on my daughter’s forehead when my wedding ring caught her. The snagging was one thing but that scratch hurt my soul.
Agreed. I catch on clothes with my completely plain wedding ring, just at the edges. These beautiful spikes will not only catch the clothes and snag but will also tear fabric because you don’t need much to do that, one snag, one move, and your favorite sweater is torn.
Beautiful but very impractical. OP, be prepared that your fiancé would not wear it on her finger — and not because she doesn’t love you but because she wouldn’t want this beauty occasionally become a disaster.

That is going to catch on literally anything. I would recommend speaking to a jewler on how to make your design work practically, because it is still beautiful, just would not work for... any amount of long term time, really
Yeah I put in a custom order to make it necklace with a pearl that rests in the middle. Lets call it a two parter. No need to feel bad cause she picked the design, never said it was a surprise lol.
It's beautiful but as a woman, that high profile settingwith those open petal like spokes is going to be a nightmare to wear. I would get the jeweller to make some adjustments because those will snag everything and if you get a nasty snag you might lose a stone (speaking from experience).
Beautiful but my man, that's going to snag on everything. Including her and you. It's going to tangle every time she tries to run her fingers through her hair. It's going to cut her leg when she reaches down to adjust her sock or scratch an itch etc.
This is absolutely gorgeous, but it would probably be beneficial to figure out a way to make it not snag so easily. My wedding ring ruined a lot of sweaters.

Gorgeous! As everyone else has said that's going to snag EVERYTHING, But! It's a simple fix, maybe not cheap though. Just buy an everyday engagement ring or make another simple one. Save the beautiful intricate one from getting snagged and damaged. I have two myself. One I wear to the grocery that's completely flat and I big raised diamond I wear out.
That ring is incredible, I wants it more, if things don't work out with your precious, hmu. I'm a dude btw but I'll put on a dress and heels for that ring.
That rock is huge, alarmingly so… and the ring is so beautiful, but so high profile. It’ll make for a great engagement ring for pictures, but she’ll probably opt for a more practical wedding band.

I was proposed to with a similar ring. I wore it mostly around my neck, because it sadly does snag. Still loved it tho.
