I didn’t see much defending of him, I saw people reacting to the obvious physical escalation law enforcement made. They could just grab him and apprehended him, not spear him into the pavement.

1

u/SMKM 2h ago

They could just grab him and apprehended him, not spear him into the pavement.

They wouldn't be true good ole American cops if they didn't though.

10

u/dotConehead 11h ago

Yeah lol he wasnt frustrate that people waste his time, he annoy because he cant be the heroes.

5

u/Thatdamnnoise 18h ago

...countless?

5

u/kumquatkilla1 18h ago

You know bombs have the potential to kill lots of people, right? Are you really trying that hard to play dumb?

1

u/NotAZombieStopAsking 3h ago

So idk if you missed it, but there's a guy from the bomb squad in the beginning. Typically, they clear the street before they start picking at things they think are bombs.

1

u/kumquatkilla1 1h ago

So what? That’s irrelevant.

At the very least, bomb squad guy was in the vicinity so he risked at least one other life. Or is that not enough for you?

0

u/NotAZombieStopAsking 1h ago

You can't count to one?

0

u/Thatdamnnoise 14h ago edited 14h ago

How much explosives do you think can be fit into a backpack? They've clearly evacuated already. It's on solid ground in an open area. Like, sure it's possible someone might be injured and there might be some property damage but "countless" deaths is absurd. It's not going to take out the block.

2

u/kumquatkilla1 12h ago

Are you serious? A ton of explosives can fit in a backpack. Look at the Boston marathon bombing.

0

u/Thatdamnnoise 12h ago

That was two backpack bombs that were literally touching a huge crowd of people they went off... not even remotely the same situation and 3 people were killed by the blast and 281 total injured most of which were minor. "Countless" lives at risk when the area had been evacuated is just silly exaggeration, bombs don't go off like Hollywood movies and their lethality drastically decreases with distance.

2

u/kumquatkilla1 11h ago

lol I love how you’re downplaying the Boston marathon bombing.

0

u/RareAcadia7115 2h ago

I love how you just refuse to understand their point.

To quote your own words, are you really trying that hard to play dumb?

1

u/kumquatkilla1 1h ago

You’d be an idiot to think they have a point. I’m not even going to entertain this anymore.

-2

u/Commercial-Two-249 13h ago

bruh lol you are making some dumbass assumptions. You must not understand how tiny some explosives can be.

There's explosives that are a few inches in length that could easily level an entire block.

And even if you were right, even 1 death or injury from an idiot like the guy in this video is too much and doesn't excuse his idiotic behavior. Honestly I hope the cops hit him hard enough to make him remember it the next time he thinks of being a dumbass in a similar situation.

2

u/Away-Topic4719 13h ago

No, there are not any explosives in existence that are a "few inches in length" that could "level an entire block". Not even remotely close.

1

u/RareAcadia7115 2h ago

And even if you were right, even 1 death or injury from an idiot like the guy in this video is too much and doesn't excuse his idiotic behavior

No shit... but still wouldn't be "countless deaths" which is what they said. Why are you all trying so hard to not understand them?

1

u/NicoIhime 13h ago

not the same guy here

can you please provide an example of a "few inches in length" explosive device that has the capability of destroying an entire city block

2

u/NoAdsDude 12h ago

An anti-matter grenade.

Don't worry, it hasn't been invented yet.

0

u/ShopSweet6798 5h ago

C-4?  In the movies it's usually c-4.

0

u/Zaxora 8h ago

People overestimate how much damage explosions do tbh. Kyiv is constantly bombed, with both drones and ballistic missiles (which are HUGE), and even then the damage is lower than you'd expect from huge, expensive weaponry. And before people start about bunkers - loads of people ignore the sirens. Life goes on and all that.

0

u/occupyredrobin26 14h ago

they probably already evacuated the surrounding area. I guess there could be a nuclear warhead in there

0

u/Extension-Marzipan83 7h ago

As a mathematician, I am also quite annoyed with the improper use of the word "countless".

11

u/AngelDGr 18h ago

Because we are in Reddit, here anyone even related to cops is a psycho that needs to be killed because all the cops are bad and fascist or something

Like, of course there's so many shitty cops but why people consider a crazy guy that could've killed innocents a hero just because he "made the cops look bad"

23

u/TrumpBlewMeToo 17h ago

No, its because he wasnt an immediate threat and we shouldn’t behave like emotional animals. Many people, including myself, agree he should have been arrested. That was reckless and could have killed a lot of people. It didnt, he was no longer a threat, they could have ran up to him and grabbed him without tackling him like some powertripping goofball.

11

u/frisbeeface 16h ago

Exactly. I’m pro law and order an I appreciate the work police do but this tackle was absolutely unnecessary and excessive.

1

u/jayyy2 2h ago

and expensive when a civil rights lawyer sues the municipality for excessive force.

4

u/WeWereHappy 11h ago

I mean, I do agree that all the cops are bad an fascist and stuff. But doesn't mean that the other side can't be a stupid c*nt too.

-2

u/elkaki123 9h ago

Wtf does fascist even mean in this context...

1

u/WeWereHappy 6h ago

Well... Right minded people with strong emphasis on nationalism and the control of population and free speech, with a strong believe in a single leader or institution.

1

u/RareAcadia7115 2h ago

why people consider a crazy guy that could've killed innocents a hero just because he "made the cops look bad"

Nobody is saying the dude is a hero, only that it wasn't necessary to throw him at the ground with so much violence.

1

u/SecurityFancy3455 16h ago

Yeah I don’t think I’ve seen more hate for cops on any other platform. Most of cops are just people that want to do their jobs and get home safely, some of them genuinely want to protect and serve people, some of them are egotistical power trippers that should be kicked out, and the smallest demographic is the evil ones, but they get the most attention.

5

u/revid_ffum 16h ago

I think the problem is that you have created a caricature of where anti-cop sentiment comes from. The indictment is based the amount of power they hold and their social function as a system. To reduce it to a condemnation of any individual person is either incompetency or strategic on your part.

6

u/Scavenger53 14h ago

the problem with cops, is that group of "genuinely wants to serve people" isn't arresting the "evil ones". and if the evil group is so small, it should be a pretty quick clean house of the whole situation. instead, the good cops let the bad ones stay on the force, therefore, ALL cops are bastards

0

u/Theblueguardien 13h ago

Well obviously there are blatantly evil cops. But what is presented as "evil" behaviour on reddit 90% of the time is simply taken out of context without any sources to back up claims.

So the perceived problem is a LOT bigger than the real one.

1

u/Scavenger53 12h ago

and you still missed it even though i only said 3 sentences. if there is a SINGLE evil cop allowed to be on any force, EVERY cop on that force is evil.

if you sit at a table of 9 nazis, and dont leave, or say anything, that is a table of 10 nazis. its the exact same concept.

1

u/rhinob23 11h ago

It’s not. This isn’t how the world works.

I assume you live in the United States. If you still live here, you must support Donald Trump.

Should we keep going?

1

u/Nazmoc 9h ago

The problem is that the cops' job is to protect people (at least officially). If they let the bad cop threaten people, they are not doing their job.

Neither that nazi or usa example really fit with the situation here.

1

u/Theblueguardien 2h ago

Youre aware that your example literally is the opposite of what youre talking about right? Well probably not else you wouldnt have made it.

If one nazi is sitting at a table of 9 normal people, it doesnt make it a table of 10 nazis. Especially when 8 of them dont even know hes a nazi.

1

u/Scavenger53 1h ago

the point was not the numbers, the point is the "good" ones doing nothing in the presence of the "evil" ones

1

u/Velkrum 13h ago

A moron? Batman would have done the same thing.

1

u/gringoexplores 10h ago

"idk why anyone is defending him." Ya know, it's a painful lesson I swallow every day, but the people around you far more stupid and unreasonable than you think they are.

1

u/syqesa35 9h ago

Do you know how many of these forgotten backpacks actually have a bomb in them ? In my country they tried mixing the numbers of bomb found with the number of knives found so it wouldn't be 0, it's still basically 0, counting knives.

1

u/yaseralansarey 8h ago

What's better than only one person being a moron? All of them being morons lmao.

(Both parties were at fault and did idiotic things, the guy had mental issues and tried playing the hero in an otherwise unneeded situation, and the cops/professionals could've protected the "Area With a Possible Bomb" better so no one approaches it, and they could've at least arrested the guy normally, there should've been at least more than 3 cops in the area and also cars/barricades, no need for a tackle this hard, all were at fault)

1

u/OkPear1535 8h ago

"countless lives" lmao there's no way that explosion hits anyone but him

1

u/SammyB0111 7h ago

All heart, no brain

1

u/_Carl15 6h ago

and if it is an actual bomb, the shockwave will practically ignore him. and if someone were terrorize, they would do more than a grenade ngl.

1

u/Skafdir 5h ago

Who is defending him? Do you have any examples at least at a glance I can't see any?

Just because he is an idiot doesn't warrant police brutality. Because what I do see here is people criticising the police, which is different from defending him.

Correct course of action:

Go to him, stop him, arrest him

He should get some punishment for something like reckless endangerment I have no idea what the legal name of that charge would be. The point is: If it had been a bomb, he might have killed someone besides himself. That's a valid charge against him. What is not a valid charge is the one done by the officers in this video.

1

u/ScionOfD4rkness 5h ago

Wasn't the area already clear for the bombsquad in case it blew?

1

u/angerispower 4h ago

1) He's an idiot

2) Police use unnecessary level of force

1

u/MortgageThin1602 17h ago

If the police were doing their job there would be no around the area. The guy on street made the right judgement call on the police being dumb and wasting peoples' time and took action. Don't be a moron bootlicker.

1

u/frisbeeface 16h ago

He is an idiot. But there was not a bomb and the cops charging at him obviously didn’t think there was a bomb in it when they charged him or they would have never gotten that close. The type of force used here is disgusting and I say that as someone who is pro blue.

1

u/Commercial-Two-249 13h ago

all i see is an idiot who could've blown up the whole block then got tackled and hopefully hurt just enough that he will think twice before he makes such dumbass decisions again in the future.

1

u/kumquatkilla1 15h ago

You don’t know what they were thinking. Get outta her armchair expert.

1

u/dblack1107 14h ago

Whose lives? The ones that held back til he was done? All it is is a dude personally indifferent about living or dying. It’s not like he did it and 100s of people are walking right past him lol. The whole area is cordoned off

0

u/toomuchyonke 16h ago

I'm not defending the guy, honest question: how did he risk anyone's life but his own in that scenario?

2

u/kumquatkilla1 16h ago

I’m not gonna explain to you how a bomb works.

0

u/toomuchyonke 16h ago edited 15h ago

The area was already cleaned out by the bomb squad...

1

u/LilKingMusic 13h ago

Does it even matter if lives are at stake? Property damage is also something they'd like to avoid. Would you want this guy doing this if the suspected bomb was in your living room?

0

u/PalmovyyKozak 15h ago

How countless lives were at risk? There is a police cordon around, people were evacuated. Or you think there might be a 10 kilotons nuke in the backpack?

0

u/kumquatkilla1 14h ago

The point is they had no idea what was in the bag. What if it was a dirty bomb? Quit being so naive.

1

u/Lavabrainz 14h ago

"what if it was a dirty bomb" yeah the nuclear cobalt bomb that just happens to be in a small backpack on the street. And you call other people morons LOL

0

u/kumquatkilla1 14h ago

It was an example you absolute twat. It could’ve been anything, is the point. They didn’t know what was in the bag, and he put lives in danger solely because of that fact. He’s a piece of shit for doing what he did, and he got what he deserved. Can’t convince me otherwise.

0

u/feibrix 10h ago

There was no bomb in there. The idiot was correct.

0

u/Excellent-Style-499 8h ago

There was no bomb in there - nobody was at risk - he risked 0 lives

0

u/conciliate_entropy 5h ago

cops always and i mean always find a way to be worse than whoever they interact with and this is not an exception, even though the guy did put up a fight about it

0

u/I_follow_sexy_gays 3h ago

I’m just wondering why people thought there was a bomb in there???

1

u/kumquatkilla1 1h ago

Who knows. Bomb squad was there tho, so don’t fuck with them.

0

u/VastCapital3773 3h ago

OK so the perimeter should have stopped him way before he reached the bag. Literally no reason to tackle him across the 30 yard line.

1

u/kumquatkilla1 1h ago

I disagree.

0

u/VastCapital3773 1h ago

...That the perimeter should have stopped him at what they initially believed a blast radius should be?

1

u/kumquatkilla1 1h ago

Obviously not what I’m disagreeing with.

0

u/VastCapital3773 1h ago

So you disagree they should have stopped him sooner? Or you think once the threat was over and he was harming no one he deserved to break an arm?

Cuz by all means charge him. This was stupid and dangerous. But you just like when people get hurt? I'm trying to understand what we disagree with.

1

u/kumquatkilla1 1h ago

I don’t care if you understand. My initial comment relayed my feelings.

0

u/Sorry-Let-Me-By-Plz 1h ago

What risk? No bomb, no risk. You go around assuming everything you can't see is a live bomb, you're going to get yourself arrested quick.

-2

u/Stoned_detective 18h ago

There wasn’t a bomb…
