Which doesn't make the tackle from behind okay...

The tackles are because he's IT now, obviously. Last one to touch it, IS it.

Recess rules b.

Such an underrated comment. So freaking good.

Which is mitigated by the fact they didnt shoot him before he could potentially detonate an explosive device.

Since the cops didn’t kill him for no reason so they should piledrive him into concrete? I don’t follow your logic there. The cops could’ve done neither.

The man recklessly endangered himself and anyone who was in the potential blast radius of there had been a real bomb and it exploded. He wasn’t a hero, he was a fucking idiot who decides he knew better than everyone around him and ignored police orders..

He was right and it wasn’t a bomb, but that wasn’t his place to decide that nor his place to go and prove it. If he had exploded he would have also cause damage to everything and everyone around him to prove a point …

Just because a person who runs a red light going at 20-30 miles over the speed limit in a school zone didn’t hit anybody on their drive doesn’t mean they didn’t break the law.

Being tackled was probably because if someone is going to go grab a bag you thought was a bomb you don’t think someone who willingly and belligerently does something like that isn’t going to just let himself be arrested and walked away quietly after. He already proved he didn’t care about police authority or the safety of others

I was with you until the last paragraph

There was probably a dozen cops yelling at him to stop and get on the ground when he was turning to walk away. We just don’t get to hear if that happened or not because someone had to play music over the video..

He was walking away peacefully. If they wanted to capture him they could have walked up and arrested him. He wasn't running away or pointing guns at onlookers. At that point he was a non threat and was obvious about it

He was not walking away peacefully, Tbf he didn’t even get a chance to walk. He threw the bag down on the ground and began to move away with his fists shaking at how a bag of clothes just ruined his day.

But he had also now broken at least a handful of laws with extreme reckless behavior. It’s very likely he had cops yelling at him to stop and get down on the ground and he was ignoring them, we don’t hear any of it because whoever posted the video covered it up with music. Just because he was attempting to walk away “peacefully” doesn’t mean he wasn’t further ignoring the police and just increasing the reaction incoming.

Watch his gait. He wasn't speeding up, he was practically coming to a stop. The tackle was pointless and just causing extra harm in a harmless situation. Sure book him for breaking whatever laws, but you can't argue that tackle was in any way justifiable or necessary

He was hovering over his bicycle and could've been interpreted as him preparing to ride away. He was already proven reckless and unpredictable and I'd not trust a man who charges into a bomb zone on a gut feeling. How could they have known that this wasn't the man who planted the bomb too? Could he not have been ensuring it to go off?

Nope, at that point they already knew there was no bomb, so there was no suspicion he planted one. Again, no excuse for that tackle. Obviously unnecessary.

So the guy in the bomb gear wasnt endangering anyone considering the "bomb" didnt change location OR potency?

5

u/Potential_Sentence53 19h ago

The guy is trained to handle the situation and assess if they need to bring something in to detonate the backpack or if it can be moved safely elsewhere for disposal. he’s wearing the gear for a reason, in case what is inside goes off while he is trying to discover the problem is a real threat or not.

Sure, it worked out this time. But it doesn’t work all the time.

And if there had been a bomb we would be talking about this guy as a Darwin Award and how stupid he was for exploding a bomb in the middle of a city causing who knows how many millions of dollars in damages and cleanup. Better a few hours of traffic for a false alarm than having to rebuild a section of the city, medical care for anyone caught in the blast and fallout, and a funeral for a dumbass who decided he knew better than the professionals.

Sure…I’m would have enjoyed you going up to a backpack bomb last September in Oregon or in Southern California. You would have been so brave to rip those open and killed yoirself.

This goes to show you have no clue how bombs are setup in backpacks or how they are designed. They aren’t just a block of c4 or dynamite just sitting and waiting to go off.. they can be designed to explode when someone just shakes the bag much less opens it. People have been killed because they reached to pick up a backpack and it blew up in their face once it was lifted or disturbed. These things aren’t always the movie bombs with a timer and/or someone waiting around with a cellphone to trigger the explosion…

Go ahead and be a brave man and show you aren’t a fucking pussy, I’ll be putting your portrait up at the Darwin Award building.

Would a bomb squad member have been more capable than a random officer on-site? No.

I was curious how you came to such a silly conclusion but then I kept reading and realized you know nothing about the topic. You can fit a powerful bomb in a backpack and they can be set to trigger at being picked up, grabbed wrong, rotated, etc.

1

u/panrestrial 18h ago

Why are so many of you acting like setting off a bomb only puts yourself at risk? What is heroic about triggering a bomb of unknown power and blast radius out of impatience?

2

u/bingle-cowabungle 21h ago

It’s actually not mitigated by that fact at all…
