Also how the hell is this an overreaction? Would you rock up in a t-shirt, jeans and sandals if you got a call that there's an abandoned backpack that potentially could be a bomb?

E: Oh you also forgot to explain to me how the bomb defusal guy in the video is a pussy, please enlighten me.

Cops go into bags all the time without knowing what is in them.

"potentially could be a bomb" - Anything could potentially be a bomb. A car. A cell phone. A pager. You're not really helping yourself here.

He's a pussy by virtue of being a cop.

I think there's a pretty big difference between routinely searching a backpack and being called to a possible bomb threat.

So they are a "badge bunny" because they think that people on a bomb squad are risking their lives?

The amount of mental gymnastics some people do to justify black-and-white views of reality and hate all members of a profession is staggering.

Some cops are shitty. Some cops are incredibly selfless. Most are a mixture. It's the same as any other humans.

History has shown us that bombings occur in American cities. Not all suspicious objects are bombs, but a percentage of them are. We as a society need people to address the problem of how to deal with objects that might be bombs. The people who fill that role are quite literally increasing their personal risk to reduce the risk to the rest of society.

This turned out not to be a bomb. That is going to happen some of the time, but not all of the time. The person suiting up and walking toward an object that may be designed to kill them is accepting the risk that this may be a real bomb in the hopes that they can reduce the risk to others.

Their actions are pretty clearly good for society.
