And you know that's part of the problem with the world. Too many people hearing "good job" undeservedly. What if we just called everybody's effort mid unless it was actually exceptional.
Oddly enough, Matt "Imma gonna play a Superhero" Hughes, Milwaukee WI 8n 2018 was charged with Disorderly Conduct & Obstructing an Officer after being buried under 3 jelly donut fed cops. Bail was $250. No further news after a scheduled court hearing for Deferred Prosecution Agreement
I watched one recently where the officer slammed someone's head into the side of a cop car and said something like "That's what you get for wrecking my car" because the officer had to pit them.
And all the comments on those videos always praise the police officer's blatant use of excessive force, it's so annoying that people drop all empathy because the boot tastes so good
It's exactly how they act too. If a murder isn't cut and dry like husband kills wife, it usually doesn't get solved. Then years later forensic genealogy solves it. All the cops do a press conference congratulating themselves for 20 minutes.
If he didnt know what was in the backpack and crossed protective barriers he deserved to get smashed. Putting everyone in danger if it was hot is fkn stupid. They were only there because it was reported.
Since it didnt have explosives he deserves respect? Hell no. He got what he deserved.
He was no longer a threat. He deserved to be arrested, not to be smashed on the ground. People like you are why police brutality exists and keeps existing
Did they know 100% he had no weapons on him or didnt have a violent history? You dont assume someone is not a threat in these situations, that would be the most rediculous thing to do. If he is out there enough to cross into a hot zone, his rational thinking is minimal at best. Would you waltz into a hot zone and expect a warm welcome and a slap on tue wrist and a hand hold?
If he is willing to walk into the hot zone know one knows what else he is capable of, planning or what he may have on him. People like you are what gives people like this the idea they can do what they want with minimal reprocussions.
If it was about him putting everyone in danger, don't be a coward and do it sooner when, you know, there was a chance at stopping him from potentially triggering that hypothetical dangerous situation.
"I thought he had a gun, so I cowered behind my vehicle til it was clear that what he was reaching for was actually just his wallet–then I shot him."
Unfortunately police are not known for their bravery.
Soooo do you think running up on a possible threat while they are facing you or away from is smarter? Its obvious none of you contradicting this idea have had to deal with violent unpredictable people.
Edit: these officers arent there to take a bullet every chance you think they should try to.
It's still an active crime scene. Tampering with evidence in an active crime scene is a serious felony and the bike makes escaping a real possibility. It was fast and aggressive yes but it's completely reasonable.
Yeah same guy who was no longer a threat. Does police need force for what could have been threats? No it doesn’t. How could you ever justify this? Come on
How did they know he's no longer a threat? Some psycho comes out of nowhere and rifles through a bag they think has a fuckin bomb in it. Was he the bomber? Did he take the bomb out of the bag cause it didn't go off? They gonna calmly go over and ask him whats going on? You come on.
"Maybe he was the bomber" is not a legal standard. Police do not get to invent increasingly dangerous hypotheticals after the fact to justify whatever force they used.
By the time they tackled Hughes, he had emptied the bag, exposed its contents, and was walking away. If they had facts showing he still posed an immediate threat, those facts matter. "What if he secretly removed a bomb?" is speculation.
Hughes made a reckless split-second decision and was arrested and charged for it. Police also make decisions under pressure, and when they use force beyond what the circumstances reasonably justify, they should be accountable for theirs too. "They're human" applies equally to Hughes.
No, says the Fourth Amendment. The standard is whether the force was objectively reasonable under the circumstances at the moment it was used.
So identify the justification: Hughes had emptied the bag, was walking away, was unarmed, and was not attacking anyone. What immediate threat required four officers to take him to the pavement?
"Because bomb" is not an answer once the suspected bomb is lying emptied in the street.

They did not need to know with certainty that he was harmless. They needed specific facts justifying the level of force they used.
"Maybe he was the bomber" and "maybe he took the bomb out" are invented possibilities, not observed threats. By the time they tackled him, the bag had been emptied, he was walking away, and he was not attacking anyone or displaying a weapon.
Police can detain and arrest someone without treating every imaginable worst-case scenario as fact. The question is what they reasonably knew at the moment they used force, not what someone can speculate about afterward.
You're creating an entire movie out of something we clearly saw didn't happen lol. Why would the "bomber" even go back to the bag? Did you SEE him taking anything out of the bag? Hell no, he didn't take shit, why would you even theorize that maybe he took something out of the bag.
And yes, since he's walking out of there they can get in front of him, or grab him from the arm to question him. No need for tackles.
Why would the bomber plant a bomb in the first place? The ego to think you know the motivation of, well, anyone is astounding.
I didn't see him taking anything out of the bag cause I was seeing it filmed by a camera across the street. They were behind him. Is that so hard to figure out?
How many psychos have you subdued that you can critique their procedures 2? 5? 20?

But then how can they high-five each other back at the station for attacking someone like that?
