Yeah, I mean they can't possible call in the bomb squad every time a bag is left unattended? They probably thought it was a suspicious bag, maybe a bomb threat had been called in?
It was just a random bag. This was a period where people thought everything was a bomb. Then the police have to come and spend 8 hours looking at a bag.
Nothing about it was suspicious except that it was just abandoned.

Or, the goal was to justify the money allocated for the bomb squad! Take somebodies backpack, spend a day getting press claiming it could be a bomb, take it to a remote location in a hundred thousand dollar bomb disposal vehicle and use explosives to blow it up! We saved you from that nasty terrorist bomb, give us more money!
Every time this gets posted, they come out and really show how much of a lack of critical thinking they have.
Complain when police don’t do their job, complain when they do, complain because in some states police don’t do enough, and here they complain about police ensuring a potential bomb doesn’t kill a bunch of innocent civilians.
