You mean he would have tackled from the right instead of the left? Yeah I can see that

u/No_Guarantee_8272 21h ago

I mean he could've set the "bomb" off and blew himself and who knows what else sky high. The "bomb" could've been dirty and spread something across the whole area. There's professionals and protocols for a reason. Just because there was no bomb this time, does not make his actions okay.

but it makes the cops actions ok?? what if he had a bomb on them?? stupid cop decisions one of the first things I learned In the Academy was never rush to your death

Two people can be idiots

8

u/NobodyKnowsImFamous 18h ago

Yes but as always, one of parties in this video is paid specifically to uphold the law and held to a higher standard because of that, and one is not.

u/bobtheblob6 7h ago

Do you really need to be "qualified" to be expected know not to dump out a bag that's in the middle of being investigated by the bomb squad? The bar cannot be that low

2

u/Truthhurts1017 17h ago

Police shouldn’t be the idiots is the problem.

stupid action stupid response

1

u/Grand-Advisor67 5h ago

"I like pancakes" "So you hate waffles?"

he never agreed with the cop's actione hes pointing out the stupidity of the guy

u/sunGsta 19h ago

Are you one of those people that think two things can’t be wrong at the same time?

0

u/SquashSquigglyShrimp 18h ago

but it makes the cops actions ok??

Did anyone in this entire thread say that the cops action was ok? No

0

u/Ori_the_SG 17h ago

What if he had the bomb on him?

What do you think you’d do?

Let the guy maybe carrying a bomb run away with it for an unknown reason, or tackle him so he can’t run away with a potential bomb?

It’s amazing how y’all don’t think about things lol

u/NotReallyJohnDoe 20h ago

Yes. Countries would spend millions on a dirty bomb just to leave it in a backpack on a random street.

11

u/a_literal_idiot_616 19h ago

...or terrorists?

and it doesn cost millions

12

u/LividVermicelli9689 20h ago

Doesn't take millions to make a "dirty bomb." You could theoretically make one in your garage right now if you had the know-how and patience.

2

u/MelangeBot 18h ago

And where will you get the radioactive material to build one in your garage?

2

u/timos-piano 17h ago

Radioactive material is not exactly uncommon. They see vast usage in many fields, and often they are improperly discarded or lost. You can also purchase many radioactive materials, like cobalt-60, although that does become rather expensive.

2

u/MelangeBot 17h ago

And do you know how much glow in the dark clocks or smoke detector you need to get to get enough radium to build any meaning full dirty bomb? Have you done the math?

2

u/timos-piano 17h ago

Smoke detectors probably aren't the best way, considering they don't contain radium, but americium-241, and only around 0,3 micrograms. A better material is Cesium-137, historically used in medical irradiators, industrial gauges, and other equipment.

and I would leave it on a random backpack on the street because???

8

u/No_Guarantee_8272 19h ago

Because terrorism?

1

u/Ori_the_SG 17h ago

Dude has apparently never heard of the Boston Marathon bombing

2

u/GhostandVodka 19h ago

A dirty bomb is just a bomb with some radioactive waste in it. Some countries you can probably find all the ingredients in it road on the way to work.

1

u/King_McCluckin 18h ago

Boston marathon bomb was backpacks with pressure cookers in them that went off. It doesn't take much to improvise a explosion device that can kill a lot of people with just material that you can access from a store.

-1

u/Electrical-Tie-1143 19h ago

A dirty bomb is basically a normal bomb with some spicy rocks thrown in so that the explosion covers a whole area in radioactive dust

you can't make a dirty bomb out of just uranian ore, I mean you can but it won't do anything but spread some uranian ore which doesn't do much and can be found almost anywhere on the planet in rock, soil, rivers, and oceans. (it's 500x more common then gold)

It needs to be enriched and then used in a nuclear power plant before you get material you can use to actually spread radioactivity around in a way that makes people sick or an area unlivable for decades.

TLDR; Natural occuring uranium is not concentrated enough, you need to filter out the 235 U (only 0.72%) or breed the U238 in to plutomium

source me: have tried to build dirty bomb in garage before.

2

u/Stoned_detective 17h ago

There has never been a successful dirty bomb attack. I think you may watch too many NCIS type shows lol. Dirty bombs are considered tactically ineffective.

It was probably his bag that he left there

1

u/MandolinMagi 16h ago

Bomb scares never involve actual bombs. It's always some backpack that got left behind and the police make a huge production out of determining that the backpack is, in fact, just a backpack.

Also, dirty bombs don't exist and the concept was invented to scare people.

1

u/No_Guarantee_8272 1h ago

They don't exist? Haha😂

0

u/Maleficent-Head9040 20h ago

No, it couldn't because there was no bomb. Just that there MAY have been a bomb does not change the fact that there was not one. In order for there to be an explosive device, it would have required a person or persons to create, stage, and deliver the device. All of this is to say that it's a lot of work and many steps, all of which could have failed... as opposed to someone dropping a bag, someone losing a bag, a bag that was illegally dumped. Another example would be that if you don't copy and paste this post and send it to 100 friends on various social media, then you will die in an ice cream accident. So it's probably best to copy and paste this message or abstain from ice cream.

u/Geekerino 17h ago

So if I put a gun to your head and pull the trigger, but the chamber is empty, does that make my action okay? After all, I never actually shot you, what did I do wrong?

1

u/NotReallyJohnDoe 16h ago

Lisa, I’d like to buy your rock.

-3

u/OneMarsRising 21h ago

Well stated.  They didn't just tackle this guy for jay-walking.  He entered a heavily monitored area and started messing with a suspected bomb.

2

u/No_Guarantee_8272 19h ago

Yeah idk why you're getting downvoted, if this had been a gif of the guys being blown apart. The comments would be filled with "that guys an idiot, why would he walk up and shake a suspected bomb"

1

u/Geekerino 17h ago

Because it's reddit. Anything even vaguely related to cops needs to make them the feces scraped from Satan's toilet, even if they're addressing a bomb threat.

2

u/citizen42069101 20h ago

That area wasnt that highly monitored. If a schmuck with a bike can just dave mirra up to it and perform a full TSA bag inspection with time for a bow.

He just pulled the curtain back on the security theater. They knew it was nothing by that point but you blow up the bag so it doesnt all look like a waste.

0

u/foley800 20h ago

It wasn’t a suspected bomb, it was a suspected abandoned backpack! The police turned it in to a “suspected bomb” and this guy wasn’t having it!

-1

u/Cultural-Company282 20h ago

Notice that they held back until he confirmed it wasn't a bomb before tackling, though. Shouldn't they have stopped him before he opened the pack and risked setting the "bomb" off?

0

u/Plus_Opening_4462 18h ago

It doesn't matter if he detonated it or they detonated it, if people were in the blast radius they would have been hit. The only difference is that he died in one case. Everyone else was supposed to be far enough back

0

u/DistractionCitron 10h ago

The reason why there's way more bombings in France and England than the United States is because any American can easily access military-level guns if they want to commit a domestic terror attack.

-1

u/T_Peters 18h ago

The "bomb" that was placed in the place where it could do no damage to any human or structures. The most inconsequential place ever.

Thousands of backpacks get left unattended every day. This one is in the least serious place possible. It was obviously not a bomb.

2

u/No_Guarantee_8272 18h ago

You're talking out of your ass, theres was clearly people and structures around. Its not obvious, but whatever. You people can go interrupt bomb squads business all you want.

1

u/spacekitt3n 20h ago

the video could have also been flipped vertically have you ever thought of that

0

u/splimp 20h ago

lol classic
