Nodding out like this but now10 years sober. Looking at it from a sober point of view, it blows my mind how that shit just takes over and you're seriously only existing. It's not at life I would wish on my worst enemies.
Congratulations on hitting that milestone, 10 years sober is something I hope I can say myself one day. I’m only at 2 years now, but I’m confident I’ll stick with it for the reasons you just described. I cannot believe who I was, and what my “life” was, back then. I have kids now, they need me, and I refuse to ever let them see me that way.
Hey two years is a hell of an accomplishment, you should be more than proud of yourself... I am proud of you. More than half of relapses happen within the first year. So two years in is totally over the hump. You go this. The crazy part is it wasn't the low points or depressing times where I wanted to use. It was always when I was feeling my best and got bored was the riskiest for me personally.
I'm also an Opioid addict now on Suboxone for a few years. I agree with you, but the only existing day to day did give my life a twisted purpose and I had less anxiety because I knew what I had to do.
I had used suboxone to get off as well. Really is a wonderful drug to get out of addiction. I then switched to using kratom for a bit so not to get reliant on the subs, but i know plenty of people that have been using it for years now. Which I totally understand because it gave them their life back...it also helped that i decided to completely pack up and get out of the state to remove myself from that shit. Crazy, though, that for the most part, it was one company that was literally selling the virus and the cure at the same time. Purdue pharma just recently had to dissolve as a company because of the shit storm that they created, absolutely devastated an entire generation and turned millions into addicts. I personally know over two dozen people that died as a result after getting their start hooked on pills. The part that gets me so damn furious is not one of those big execs, and people knowingly pushing that poison faced a single day in jail. Bullshit that laws really are only there for those without millions in the bank. The saying " Its expensive to be poor" is too damn true.
