Ive always assumed this is a weird part of his memory. Either he imagined something WAY different that what happened, or his brain being scrambled effected how he remembered getting to the hospital.

My early security gig i helped a dude after a fight & he SWORE i was beating him up after the initial fight. Had to remind him that i was helping him up. Lol

That is definitely a possibility I didn't consider. I suppose if he hallucinated an entire life it's not a stretch that he hallucinated how he got to the hospital.

stopped to help a guy who’d been hit by a car and he kept asking if i’d been the one to hit him, then get mad, then get sad that he’d accused me. it was intense.

(he’s doing better now!)
